    I'll say right now, I've always prefered channels with consistantly high content to channels with a consistantly high ammount of video output. Whilst I'm very happy that we may be getting more better made videos (I feel your content has been particularly well made recently) I'd also really love it if the quality didn't have to be sacrificed for the sake of sheer output.

      Seconded; there are too many TF2 channels that are just rambling over gameplay footage, I will sub to anyone that makes TF2 content but rarely watch their videos if there is no effort. Eg: SpikeyMikey - subbed but never watch. LazyPurple - subbed and will watch each of his videos several times.

      @@burnybob8368 It's just generally the type of videos I prefer to watch. The best channels find a pretty good middleground (eg. ScottTheWoz and Tom Scott) but there's only one or two channels I subscribe to that make content without a script

    I always tell my friends
    "If you do youtube always have a backup"
    Since quitting your job just for CZcams when your not making enough isnt worth it

    • @Casperr
      @Casperr  Před 3 lety

      I think that's wise! Success on CZcams seems to be very hit-or-miss. It's not like a standard career where you follow a well-defined path of training, junior, senior etc and you naturally progressed based on experience and qualifications.
      With YT, you could spend 1,000s of hours releasing incredible high quality videos over 5 years and never make a living off of it, or you could make 5 (comparatively) low-effort videos and blow up within a couple of months.
      I think most people (at least the TF2bers I know of) who have recently quit jobs have done so because they already have semi-successful channels and, whilst they may not make as much money as they would in their former jobs, can see that the money is enough to live off and that's fair enough.

      @@Casperr it sometimes annoys me when i see someones videos get like 6 figure views yet they don't have enough subs to get approved

    Pretty good standpoint, you know what your aduience want. Even though i think your general views are pretty strange to some kind, the one Video about Gaming in general blew up in views and the next one barraliy gets 5k views.

    • @Casperr
      @Casperr  Před 3 lety +1

      How many views a CZcams video gets feels almost random.
      I created the first "Where Are They Now?" video about TF2 inspired games and it blew up and is at 500,000 views despite being really quite a simple video that just lists some releases dates and active player numbers. The second video I did in that series was made focusing on games that the viewers of the first video requested and, whilst it has done well relative to my channel, didn't get half as many views as the first one. The third one I did recently is literally my *highest average watch time video EVER* (a stat which CZcams tells creators is an important one) and it's not even at 3,000 views.
      "Steam Sale Syndrome" was another generic gaming video I did which blew up, so I made "Free Game Fever" trying to emulate the same style of SSS and has comparatively only had 1/5 views. And then on the other side of the coin, I did another fairly quick and nothing-special video recently "Portal Items In TF2" and it did extremely well!
      The problem is as a creator that *I have very little idea why some did well and others didn't*. Is the editing better/worse? The script? The thumbnail or title? As you can see, I have tried to make videos similar to others which have performed well, but it seems the magic formula is a bit deeper than that.
      Or maybe part of being a successful CZcamsr is being able to consistently recognise what makes a video "good".

      Not a decision I made lightly (as I said, I've been trying to make this work for literal years). Combination of being in a decent job with understanding owners and having reduced spending due to lockdown meant now was a good a time as any! Once the world starts picking up again it might not be viable to stay like this, but for now it is certainly a nice bonus to my week

    • @Casperr
      @Casperr  Před 3 lety

      I believe there was a couple of bugs years ago that made certain Black Roses tradeable but those bugs are long fixed. Only those which were made tradeable back then remain so I'm afraid. But that's probably why the prices are so high now!

    • @Casperr
      @Casperr  Před 3 lety

      I did try it before, but it became awkward to maintain because I did upload often and there wasn't that much to talk about, almost every day someone would show up and just say something like "wow it's totally dead in here" and that sort of thing. Maybe if the channel gets bigger or my uploads get more frequent I will think about it again :)
