Homeowner DESERTED By Her Old Lawn Guy Calls Me For HELP

- A few days ago, I had a homeowner (now customer) reach out to me in need of some serious lawn help. She told me that she hadn't had her lawn mowed for over a month now due to being deserted by her old lawn guy. The guy promised her many times that he would show up and never did, causing her grass to grow over 2 feet long in her backyard. The front yard wasn't too bad. She said she was doubting that I would want to take on the backyard (not sure why). I said I had to check it out and glad I did, because it was definitely video worthy for you guys.
I didn't ask about the front but I believe either her or her neighbors had been helping her mow the front yard. The backyard definitely put the STARIS to the test... and it passed! Enjoy :)

One thing you do that most of your YT competitors don't do, that I think is admirable, is that you pick up the cuttings. You bag all the grass cuttings, and that puts a professional touch on your work.
You are right about that, but not bagging your stuff can be good. When a lawn is overgrown, if you cut it down it gets all patchy. Grass cutting are a good fertilizer so though yes you are so right about that, it is also decently good to leave the clippings
And I love how he edges all sidewalks!!!!
@@jaxsonr8256 Also makes good top soil layer. That’s where all the beautiful black topsoil comes from in the forest. Plus these very generous kind hearted gentleman have given their time to mow these elderly handicapped people’s yards. I applaud them. God Will really bless them.

I know I hate to go down the road and have to drive thru where someone has mowed and thrown the grass clippings out in the road! You never know when there could be nails or glass that would cut your tires ! Plus it’s very inconsiderate of people that do that!!
You can tell this homeowner takes pride in her home. Very well payed out. Dog run and boxed planter beds and stone flower beds. Really lovely.

You are the only guy I've seen pick up clippings. Other lawn videos I've watched are very good but they mulch every time and cut with large riders and go over it numerous times to blend it in. You do excellent work ,top notch for sure.

I have never seen a fence configuration like that before. I guess that keeps your lawn nice and can still provide the security of a perimeter fence occupied by guard dog(s).
That's a really neat dog "run" they have there, I like that. Great job my friend.
Here in the UK we have a cartoon about Fred Basset hound and his owner. Started in 1963, he is still going strong today. Thanks for your great transformations .....great to watch. I wish someone would come and do my tiny garden.

I love all your videos but my favorite parts are when you edge a paved section and shovel off the overgrowth- it’s so satisfying to see a walkway or curb or whatever open up like that.

Great job on both front & back yards. Grass looked really thick and wet but you got it all mowed down. I enjoyed watching both dogs go back and forth through out your time there. They are so cute.
The dogs both looked like very good dogs. Many dogs would have been barking their head off the whole time. Those two just paced back and forth looking.

Would love to see a follow-up video after a few months of being regularly maintained, that backyard looks like it will fill back in nicely.
Turned out wonderful, makes you wonder why the previous guy gave up on it, really didn't look like a particularly tedious layout, especially if you can trim up a few of the lower branches of the trees. His loss, your gain!

Robert S. I can tell you why it's the DOGS! I noticed during the ENTIRE video that the dogs where running back & forth in their dog run. Although the guy from Fill's Lawn Care didn't seem the least bit nervous working around them (as the dogs ran back & forth & barked ) 'm sure that the previous lawn guy must of had some issues with that.
My family owns two miniature poodles and it's extremely important to keep them OUT of the yard when our lawn fertilizer & bug guy maintenance companies are working IN our backyard. Plus, when we do our own mowing & weed whacking our rule is NO DOGS IN fenced in BACKYARD. If they need to go to do their "bathroom business" we take them out on long leashes in our non fenced in front yard. Our property is on a corner cul-da-sac and it's a 1/2 acre property. Our backyard is the biggest part of our property.
My thoughts as well.
The other could have had health issues, I used to mow a neighbors lawn and I had to quit because it was getting too hard for me.

I Keep Telling My Husband We Need To Get An Edger For Along The Sidewalks, As We Have ALOT Of Crab Grass That Grows Out Onto The Walk😝I Always Go Out & Pull It All Up, But That Gets To Be Old As it Grows So Fast, Looks Like This Lady Doesn't Have Too Much Of That Tho🙂You Do GREAT Work🤩 I Hope She Hires Someone to Keep Up With The Yard Especially If It Rains Alot, Or Her Grass Will Be Back To Where It Was Before You Helped Her, You Def Are An Angel, God Bless You In Your Work♥

The basset hound looks like he could have some beagle thrown in. For the other I was leaning toward golden lab/pit bull. Beautiful animals. Beautiful dog run.

The owner was very thougtful, and constructed their very own personal yard. Very pretty, too!
Pretty much everything looked perfect except along the bottoms of the white fencing. I think just a second swipe of the edge trimmer would have made that look awesome. I am glad to hear she is a new customer and you did a lot of work there for sure. God bless.

I love jobs like that on nice sunny days, I really like that side chucker stand on mower you've got with the detachable box, that would be awesome on some of the communal/commercial jobs we get with housing associations and whatnot where things tend to get neglected.

When I saw that side gate I thought, will Fill make it through there this week !! 11:30 amazing effect. With this kind of yard you really do have to tackle it twice, once to get it to a manageable state to work on, then again for the mowing/edging. Great job as usual Fill. God bless brother.

I was thinking the same thing! The RR are not real common but, they are very fast & athletic dogs & the BH… just the opposite = quite a pair!

One dog is a Basset and I’m guessing the other is maybe in the Cur family? I’m so glad you were able to come to the owner’s rescue. You can tell that she wants her home to look nice and that’s exactly what you did! Great job and I love that you bagged the clippings and did the edging last. Oh and I also want to compliment you on the fancy video shots you gave us.
Super fantastic job on this lawn! You are always meticulous with your work! I know the homeowner must have been very happy. As for the dogs, one is definitely a Basset Hound and the other I think is a pit mix. Their little area was so cute!

Hi Fill, what I like most about your videos is the fact you can help someone that needs it. What I enjoy most is when you use the mowers , an especially the zero turn mowers. Growing up my folks had a huge property which I had to maintain with push mowers . Wore out four of them in the process. Good exercise I guess but a lawn tractor or a zero turn mower would have made my life a lot easier !

Very nice job, Fill! The backyard was well designed, and the tall grass and weeds were well organized. LOL They were a forest to the little garden creatures. The mowing produced a lot of green waste. I loved the personal yard for the dogs. Owner was very thoughtful with the design. It seemed to be well maintained, btw. Just the odd weed growing here or there, that the dogs might water. Homeowner could trim the bush at the side of the house, since it is near the entrance to the back yard.

Simular thing happened to me. My AC broke on a Saturday. Called the only local Hvac repairman as I live out in the boonies. He came, said I needed a new switch, and showed us what to do to over-ride the system if it shuts off again, which it did multiple times. I offered to pay him but he told me to wait tell the switch comes in and left. Never heard from him again. I called repeatedly but he ignored all my calls. I finally found someone else that helped get the AC part. A friend ran into this guy months later and asked why he ghosted me. Guy claimed he couldn't get the part, which was a lie as this was a universal part that works in all AC's and sold everywhere. He never did get paid for the trip to my house, which is out of town. I've heard since he does the same thing to businesses and others all the time. Everyone uses companies now that charge $100 travel fee just to get to your house due to the distance. But least these companies show up. I just don't get this behavior. If that gardener no longer wanted to do this lady's yard, just tell her.
