- Hi everyone! Here's the making of this stained glass entrance set and some great photos after fitting. I must admit I super enjoyed this project as it features the flower symbol of my home county of Lancashire. The door panel and matching transom window are now fitted in their new 'forever' home up in Lancaster. Huge thanks to my clients for send over the photos after fitting so I could show you guys
It was also the last project to be made in my old workshop before the relocation. A keen eye might be able to see the workshop being taken apart in the background whilst filming.
Cheers for watching 🍻

Thank you 🧡💛💜
Stunning…beautiful work. The side mirror in the hall picks up the door glass perfectly. Owners must stand and admire…I would
Thank you buddy it's a wonderful result ❤️🤍🩷
Another beautiful duo!! The door looks so much better, especially after being painted white. 🙂
It's actually a very pale shade of pink but it looks fabulous and thank you for watching 🩷🫶🫶
@@LightLeadedDesigns I did the trim in my bedroom a pale, pale pink as well. From a distance it could look white. I'm sure the pale pink is nicer looking, up close. 😊
Stunning. 😍
This is definitely one of my favourites ❤️🧡💛
This one's huuuuge!
I've made bigger but it's definitely a large door!
Oh Jan!! This is stunning!! Love it!!
Thanks for the appreciation buddy 🧡🩵🩷
WOW ! your work is just amazing
Aww thank you 💙❤️🧡
Wonderful ❤
Thanks for watching buddy 💜🧡
It looks sober, very nice project
Love the result on this one 💜🧡🖤
Bom dia grande amigo, como é lindo seu trabalho, parabéns
Aww thanks for watching buddy 🍻
nice
Cheers 💙💜💚
Just fascinating! This looks like an enjoyable line of work. After a few years, I am sure the polish needs to be reapplied. Is that something the homeowners can do themselves, or does it need to be sent back in for that? How often does that need to be redone?
The lead work will always naturally oxidise and darken over time. These proper leaded light window are best just left alone after fitting, possibly a little dusting, maybe a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment. When left alone they'll last hundreds of years 🧡💜🩷
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
🧡💛💜
I love that you don’t waste glass when cutting out your pieces like I’ve seen many others do.
Glass is so expensive! I like the challenge of trying to be as accurate as possible with the minimum waste 🧡💛🤍
Jan, do you ever get commissions for painted pieces? You know, with firing it in a kiln and stuff.
I do get asked but I just don't have the time anymore to take on painted work. I still have all the equipment including kilns but it's not been used properly for a good few years now 🤜💥🤛
Wonderfull work. Could you please share the properties of the metal profile you use?
It's all traditional lead came 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Mate, you are just exceptional to watch. How much would you charge for something like that? Given the amount of time to actually complete it, I'd say it would be worth every cent.
Cheers buddy, there was alot of behind the scenes work on this one, I think I charged £1400.00 for the set 💜💙
@@LightLeadedDesignsWhoa!! That's quite the price, but for what it is, that's very reasonable. ❤❤
Is there any other use for U shape came other than using it for the outer edge? Is it normally used for rounded outter edges?
Nah U came would only ever be used on an outer edge 👍
How many years experience do you have ? You make it look so easy
Just turned 27 years now! Quite a few thousand projects 💜🤍❤️ cheers 🍻
Simple and soo beautiful!! As I was watching, I wondered about the paper templates. (right word?) you use to follow the design. They are quite big and I guess you have a special printer, but mostly I wondered how craftsmen from the past made the templates... do you know?
They just drew them. Some still do.
For the first 15 years I hand drew all my templates, must of made thousands of them! I'd rather embrace a little technology these days 🫶🧡🫶
@@LightLeadedDesigns As we'd say in Spanish... Fá!
AAAA MMAAA ZZIING
@LightLeadedDesigns ... yet,, not surprising as one sees how you bend the lead in perfect circles and other curves instinctively...
@@selenegriego6156 Yes, I'm always impressed by Jan's precision in forming and cutting glass and lead.
Maybe I missed it, but what are the little pieces of copper for. BTW beautiful work.
2:07 “Yeah, these little copper ties, I’ll be soldering these on, across here on the joints (motions to corners), and across here (motions to intersections), and then those are twisted around the bar, and tightened-up, and folded under; and this is the traditional method of adding strength and stiffness to a window”
The window's too big to be help together by lead alone.
Cheers for the comment 🧡💛
@@LightLeadedDesigns thank you. I really enjoy your work. You inspired me to start buying up tools to try my hand at imitating you.
Tyrell houses
Yeah it is abit. Maybe one day someone will want a tyrell window 😂💛
Very beautiful work.
Can you please let me know the material used for, since I would like to try myself by seeing the wonderful job you're performing.
It's traditional lead came used to make the windows
Please tell me all materials name
hello, can you tell me the manufacturer of the grout or do you make it yourself?
I mix my own but it's a very similar recipe to the ones you can find with a Google search for leaded light window cement recipe 🍻
@@LightLeadedDesigns Please write down the recipe. I will be very grateful to you. thanks
@ipravoqator He does this as a business. It's his business recipe. It's a bit rude that you ask him to give you that. Google a recipe like he told you to. 🤷🏻♀️
I asked the author. Why be responsible for him? I don't see anything terrible in the question for him. I'm not a competitor for him, because I don't want to use it for commerce, and I'm also in another part of the world. That's why I asked you to show me the recipe. and I will be very grateful to him.
