- This week in the workshop I completed the making of this gorgeous entrance set!
My clients are having a new door made and commissioned myself to make the stained glass set. I do love any excuse to use my 150+ year old Sharratt and Newth diamond tipped circle cutter.
I've been asked a few times recently to not post any music on these CZcams videos so I'm posting this one without to see what the response is like ✌️
Cheers for watching 🙂

This is beautiful and you make it look so easy, although I know this is years of expertise. ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
I’m new to stained glass and I’m simply amazed at your work! Thank you for posting all of these videos!
Aww thanks for saying 🫶 it makes it worth posting 🍻
Amazing - I love watching your Reels on Facebook, so talented
Glad you like them! 🫶
Wow, you are a true artisan. It's a joy to watch this ambidexterity, how one each hand does the job best fitted for it. And so fast, too! (sorry, dumb joke)
Thanks for the appreciation buddy 💜🧡💜
It's a joy watching you make these.
Cheers 👍
Neat little circle cutter set up
💙💜
Only just discovered your channel and its a real pleasure watching you at work,id love to have a go myself but wouldn't know where to start 😊
Welcome aboard!
That's just ........sick! I think one of my neighbours have a front door made by you(seen ot on your website). I.ll have one myself but I do want to spend at least 1hour in your workshop watching your art :)
Haha cheers, you never know I this point I have quite a few thousand windows out there 😂🫶🫶
Just Beautiful Jan...
Cheers Frank, have a great weekend 🤜💥🤛
Strepitoso come sempre!
🤜💥🤛
Beautiful as always. I do much more copper foil work. Watching your reels keeps reminding me of the lead process. Your designs and colours are wonderful.
Aww thanks for watching, i do only really work with lead came now but
I've had a little dabble at copper foil but that would be 20yrs ago ❤️💚🧡
I liked the video without music. It's nice just to hear the working noises. How long have you been working with glass? Have you always just worked with lead? And how long did it take you to become proficient at it? Thanks! 😊 Nice windows, I liked the designs.
Thanks for the feedback, i've been doing this 26+ years now. Mostly lead came work I've made quite a few thousand over the years so it's been a lot of practice 😂
The perfect job by perfects hands. Pleasure to watch
Aww thanks for the kind words 🫶
I've only recently started following you on IG and really enjoy your work. Getting to see it in a bit longer form here is really a pleasure. I greatly admire people who take such great care in their craft. And it's beautiful work, to boot. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching buddy 👍
Bravo! Wonderful as always❤
Thanks you 🍻
I love your work❤️
You're an inspiration!
Aww thanks for the appreciation buddy 🙂 too kind 💙
Thanks for sharing ❤
Cheers for watching 🙂✌️
Well done, Jan. Beautiful set. Very precise handwork.
Thank you for watching 🫶❤️🧡💙💚
Love them! You will have to start making your own roundels. Keep the craft living 😉
I did think about trying to make them but it would take so much work getting setup for it and I'm always so super busy working on all the orders I have. I really don't know whats going on happened in the future, it's super sad really
Very nicely done.
Thank you buddy 🤜💥🤛
Thanks for sharing, it's really interesting to see how it's made.
Cheers for watching ✌️✌️
❤
Cheers
Thank you for another lovely video. I so appreciate seeing the detailed steps of your work. I strongly prefer videos which have voice overs to be music-free but I have never minded the music on your videos, in fact I liked your choices. That said, I'd love to have more videos with you describing the project.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll be thinking of you next time I'm nattering on 😂😂🍻🍻
What software do you use to create and size your designs. How do you print them out (a plotter)?
I love your talks Jan! I would love to do what you do. So cool to see the process!
Thanks for watching buddy, I try to keep it interesting 🍻😂
Lindo trabalho 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thank you Brazil 💚
Your work is simply amazing! Thank you so much for doing all of these videos. Can I ask how wide is this piece? And how wide is the glass on the skinny rectangular pieces? Your work and color schemes are just gorgeous.
Hi thanks for watching, tbh I've made lots of windows since this project so I can't remember the exact sizes now. But I do vary the border thickness quite a lot depending on the sizes of the panels 👌
I was just thinking about your stained glass windows earlier today. We were watching a British detective show and the front door of a building the detectives went into had a couple long rectangular stained glass panels with rondels and glass having a similar texture as you use. I would have sworn they were made by you.
Funny you mention that... It can't possibly be the same program but I have made windows that were on a TV detective show a year or so ago... I think it was called 'the bay' or something like that 🤣
@@LightLeadedDesignsThose windows must have been your design...it was definitely the style you use on sets of door panels! It was a past season of the show. We skip around between different detective series and one of them sounds like the one you mentioned. They looked so beautiful with the sunlight shining through.
@@shortliner68 Let me tell you something interesting. I'm a steel, brass, and Corten windows and doors fabricator. So I'm always pay attention to beautiful windows and doors in movies and TV sets. To my surprise, they always choose locations that have artistic or high end windows. I learned to appreciate that the people that go around looking for locations very often look for how the windows and the light goes through them. Add that there are video photographers, they have good taste and appreciation for beauty. Sometimes I pause the videos just to snap a picture of the design and built.
What triggered my response is that you mentioned how the light went through the stained glass. You know they paid great attention to how the doors will look like on the screen.
The little things most people don't pay attention to. 🙄
Have a wonderful day. ☺️
@@danl.4743 Appreciated your comment. Since getting interested in stained glass art I've paid more attention to windows and doors on these TV shows, both exterior and interior. Some designs are simple and some are very ornate, but they're all beautiful with light shining through.
Your work is great! You make it look so easy. I am just beginning down my journey on leading vice tiffany (copper foil) method. I was curious on your cementing table, do you have a coating on the table or is it just blackened over time from cementing? it looked smooth somewhat and wasn't sure if it was just plywood or a different type of material. Thanks.
I think it's chipboard underneath many years of cement leftovers 😂 cheers for watching
I love the traditional designs you do. What is the cement mixture you use? I've found different cement "recipes" used by different artists that they prefer. Some take hours to set others take days. I have yet to find one that is less toxic to breath and sets nicely. Would you be willing to share?
I keep the exact recipe a secret but It's a very similar recipe to the ones you can find with a Google search for leaded light window cement recipe 🫶
Of course..... Google it! 🙄
Excellent video. What is your formula for cement? Thanks.
Cheers, it's my mums secret recipe but it's very similar to the standard recipes you can find with a Google search for 'leaded light cement recipe'
Hola, estoy suscrito a su canal, me encanta sus trabajos, es usted un crack, tengo una pregunta, el color final del plomo es negro, es debido al cemento o le añade una patina negra, gracias, saludos desde Málaga (España)
It's a mix of both the black cement and the black grate polish but the lead came will oxidise and darken naturally over time without this process 👍
@@LightLeadedDesigns thank you very much
Good work, my friend. The only thing that prevents me from doing this work is the lack of lead pieces that are used in my country. Of course, this is unfortunate
I was offered a machine to make my own lead came a few years back. I wish I'd of bought it now!!
Jan, what kind of cement, is it only for windows and do you use shoe polishing brushes or are they specific?
It's a home made recipe but it's very similar to the standard recipes you can find with a Google search for 'leaded light windows cement recipe'... And yes I have many many shoe polish brushes in the workshop 🤣🫶
Who makes the open flame torch soldering iron you use? I’ve never seen one of those in the US.
There pretty much made by one bloke here in the UK, I'm 99.9% sure he doesn't ship internationally but do search facebook.com/EpartridgeandSons if you like
Hello, I am sending you a message from Iran. Can you tell me the method of making cement?
Mine is home made mix of my mums secret recipe but it's very similar to the standard recipes you can find with a Google search for 'leaded light cement recipe'
Can I ask you what software program do you use?
I actually invested in having my own design program made a few years back 🤜💥🤛
Como chama esse matal que você coloca pra segurar o vidro?
I think you probably mean the lead came 👌
You look like you are not putting much pressure on your lead knife and you get quick, clean cuts. I always have to put a lot of pressure and it damages the lead cut. Yours must be really sharp or I’m definitely doing something wrong
Stupidly sharp! Lots of wiggling side to side and pressure ❤️💛🧡
I notice you dont use whiting after cementing is there a reason for this?
I just don't find the need for it 🙂
Are you willing to share what the liquid is in the tin lid that you use with the zip grate polish? And also what flux do you use?….i find that tallow leaves a lot of residue on the lead@@LightLeadedDesigns
❤ don't you need an apprentice?:)
Haha cheers for asking but I'm sorry I don't have the time right now 🍻🍻
