- Just finished up the making of this cute little flowery number. It's a rather traditional type of Art Nouveau stained glass design and I think it looks rather gourgous in this smaller window 😁

Hope everyone's had a fantastic week

Thanks for showing your process leading this one. NOT BORING AT ALL!
Hahah thank you 🤜💥🤛🤗
Just knowing that I'm watching you create a window that will be around hundreds of years after I'm gone is mind blowing 🤯 thanks for another calming video 😁
Gets me everytime ❤️💜💙
These are the most beautiful and wonderful works of art I have ever seen. I want to learn too❤
Cheers for watching 🍻
Soothing and beautiful to view. A beautiful profession. You must be very proud of the result. Greetings from The Netherlands
Thank you 🇳🇱💛
That’s gorgeous! I do love the design, especially the green ribbon, well done! Definitely fiddley! (🐘saw it)😂 Thanks for sharing your inspiring art work! Hugz, Tree
Ding ding 🐘❤️, cheers for watching 🤜💙🤛
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing
Cheers for watching 🍻
Wow, amazing work! It must be so cool for your client to see their window being made.
It's a lot of effort to film but it's worth it 🍻
I love seeing you do all the fiddly bits. Especially in real time. 😅
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoy the struggle 😂🍻
Beautiful work! Greetings from Buenos Aires
Cheers for watching 🍻
This is fun to watch, and the result is always lovely. Thanks for sharing!
🍾🍾🍾 Cheers
Great job! Thanks for the video. I was inspired by your work last year and started doing it too. I also thought that I would cut the lead profile as easily as yours. But in fact, we sell a very hard lead profile and I use a hammer to help the knife cut it))) Greetings from Kaliningrad!
Yes the lead came does look softer in the videos than it is in real life! With the videos being spend up people do think it's as soft as butter 😂. Super happy to hear you're enjoying the craft 💜🧡
I was wondering … I wonder what size came he uses … and your caption popped up that said “For the lead work I used …” 😂 I didn’t have to wonder long! Love watching your work and appreciate the details and that you can read our minds … ha
Thank you Shelley 🤜🔥🤛
So pretty. Can you do an art deco decoration please? Also are the ingredients still the same for the cement or have they been modernised?
Thanks for showing your designs. So lovely to see traditional crafts still active and in use 👏
Hi Louise, I'll be filming the next interesting Art Deco project that comes along for sure 👍. All the videos I post up are just jobs that come through the door. I don't ever seem to have the time to make anything for myself 😂🫶
Very nice! Boy, this one had a few small pieces that looked fun to fit with the lead. You don't grind much, is it because of the transparent glass breaking so easily? And, I liked the owl in the background. 🙂
Tbh it really doesn't make a difference if it's opaque or transparent glass it mostly cuts the same 🍻🍻🍻
@@LightLeadedDesigns I usually have a harder time with multi colored and layered glass.
Another great piece!
Question: When doing the cement process, do you do one side and then wait for it to dry, or do both sides right after the other?
Just wondering if doing the other side right after would make some cement oozes out on the opposite side?
Nah I cement both at the same time, I want the cement to ooze through as it shows I've not missed any bits 💜
Hello from México
👋👋👋 🍻
very clean and fresh looking work! Beautiful! Where do you get the patterns for your designs?
Thank you, pretty much all of my projects are commissions so I draw up the designs to meet the requirements of the clients 🫶
What size of lead do you use? You make it look so easy. Beautiful work
On this on its all 1/4" round lead came then the usual 1/2" round the edge 🫶
Amazing work . What software do you use for designing ?
Cheers I spent a small fortune making my own design program made a few years ago 🩷🧡💛🩵
You make it look super easy! I see you are using paste/liquid flux to solder? Is there a reason why you don't use tallow? (I suspect cleaning the mess might be a factor :)), but I wondered how do you clean the paste/liquid flux off the lead after soldering?
I use a standard plumbing flux paste as I like using a brush to apply it. It really does save from all the mess 💛❤️🩷
@@LightLeadedDesigns thank you! May I ask how do you clean the flux off the lead came afterwards? Do you use any soap and water or even a flux remover? Do you just wipe the joints or soak the piece completely to wash and rinse it off? That would add extra time to the process I guess in terms of drying..
Boa tarde mestre

Question: Do you Soldier and Cement both sides?
Always everytime!
these pieces made for doors don't need any reinforcement?
It all depends on the application and size, there are a few ways to add extra support from secondary glazing adding external reinforcement bars 🧡
Podrías decirme los ingredientes para hacer la masilla o cemento., gracias.
I use a very similar recipe to the ones you can find with a Google search for 'leaded light window cement recipe' 🧡💛💙
Tu has construido tu propio soldador????? Gracias .
It's a traditional propane gas soldering iron here in the UK, i've been using one for 25+ years 🔥🔥
Quick question. I’ve seen some videos where people use whiting to both help polish the glass and harden the cement. Do you ever use that? I tried it and it was the messiest part of the whole process. lol
I still have a big bag of whiting at the workshop but I prefer not to use it as it is super messy!!
Cual es la diterencia entre el soldador de propano y el electrico. Gracias
I find it more comfortable to hold for extended periods of time 🔥🔥
You would be very wise to wear rubber gloves working with lead came.
I gave that same advice to a husband/wife/daughter stained glass artisans some 30 years ago who all got lead poisoning.
I have regular blood tests at the doctors to make sure my blood levels are very normal. Been doing it for 26 years now ❤️
@@LightLeadedDesigns then you need to compare the cost of rubber gloves to the cost of dying a terrible death. If you think your hands are somehow different than everyone else then you are a fool.
There is absolutely no medically known way that you have been handling lead came for 26 years and not absorbed the lead, I would question the testing.
Care to guess how many people have said "I should have listened when I was younger" ?
My mentors who have been doing SG for 30+ years tested every 6 months. Never had a high lead level result. I would venture to say Jan is cautious and certainly knows the risks involved. No need to be rude.
