Mr. Pigden was a pilot in WW2 and even got the honour to do a flyover the Buckingham Palace. Yet he said that it wasn't his biggest achievement, he was more proud when Ian became a great, successful player. Such a heart of gold, makes me tear up when I think of it 😢

However he has helped me with far more than just my writing and the list could literally go on forever. I always tell him how grateful I am and he just says it's what he signed up for as a teacher but due to just being ignored and laughed at by teachers in my primary school for writing he means far much more to me than he knows no matter how many times I tell him how grateful I truly am.

I had a bad teacher when I was about 10 years old and had her for two years. She damaged me so much by bullying me that even the good teachers couldn’t turn it around. I’m 47 now, and I still pass her when she is out for a walk or out and about and I’m always civil to her as she is old now, but I always wonder what I could have done if i hadn’t had her as a teacher. I left school at 15, with no education but I did get a trade and I have worked all my life, but I never got to fulfill my true potential. A good teacher is so important, especially to someone like me who was nervous and quiet. One of my ex classmates who is now a teacher, told me at our 40th class reunion that she uses that teacher as an example of how not to teach and she acknowledged infront of everyone how badly I was picked on by that teacher, which, after all that time, gave me almost a sense of relief, as I’d never actually heard anyone say it to me. I had so many great teachers who I remained friends with over the years, but this particular teachers sticks out. I’m so happy to see your comment, because you do a great and under appreciated job.

@@KyloNight thank you for sharing your story. You are absolutely right in that it only takes one to make you feel like you can’t fulfill the dreams and goals you have. I’m so sorry to hear that. There are people who chose to be the best they can be in a profession and others who choose the other path. I’m trying my best to be the former. Sometimes we are all many children have because once they go home there is no love. I will continue to try being the best I can for as long as I am in this profession, which as you mention, is so underpaid, under appreciated, and disrespected. But it keeps me going knowing that I can make a difference in my students’ lives. Cheers and I hope you have found closure after all this time.

I had a teacher like this in primary, her name was Gerda. She was the only one that treated me as a normal kid, i was troubled, got abused and neglected at home and didn't know how to socialize with other kids when all i wanted was to just fit in and be liked, i just didnt understand how. She always encouraged me, never made me feel like a lesser. When i went to High School, i kept visiting her until she retired. I don't know where she is now but i want to get back in contact with her, she has no idea how much it meant to me.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Its so nice to actually have a teacher who supports you like this. I have a teacher who also means the world to me and made the teachers from my primary who laughed at me and called me weird and just ignored the things that I truly loved and wanted to make my career be truly long gone as now I have someone who truly supports me. I want to try and do everything in my power to make sure that I stay in touch with him after I leave secondary school (I'm in year 8 atm) as I can't bare the thought of having no contact with him especially if my writing career turns out as he's the one who truly supported me through this.

As a fully grown man , an a "geezer" the respect of the hat been taken off to show his respect , the heart felt joy of seen Mr Pigden again and the humbleness brought me to tears , im 36 and i look at how society is today and we have lost all of that , showing respect was because you were raised well enough to have respect for your elders , not because you are weak or the silly saying respect is earned and not given etc we have lost that path and washed it out with nonsense , bring back the days of old and hopefully I can ingrain and teach my children this is the way to live your life.
