If the drain plug is left out while filling it won’t bubble up and make a mess. You can also see when it starts to get full and drain out. I have done many this way. No problems. Let me make a correction. Not the drain plug. The fill level plug in the front side of the transmission.
does the car have to be idling when checking it? can 3.5 quarts be poured in and then idle to see if it leaks out from that drain plug?
About to give it a shot tomorrow! Wish me luck!
Thank you have a 2015 with 195,000 miles, starting to have some slippage. going to try this before I replace transmission
Hi Carl, did changing oil helped?
Thank you. Much appreciated.
someone invent a fkn dip stick please
Very helpful!!
Great work
Amazing video
Good video, thank you.
Thank you so much
Good video..i didn't take out the battery though..i did take the exhaust hose out and used a long big screw driver to remove the plug on top..
Hey thanks for the video. Very helpful. The only questions I had pertained to the torque specification for the drain bolt and how long it should take to get the temperature where it should be. I ended up buying an infrared temperature tool and completed the final step after pan temp reached 111 degrees like yours did. Thanks again.
transmission drain plug, torque 24.6 - 31.8 lb-ft
Wish someone made a aftermarket dip stick to screw in the top to check the level easy .
Do exactly how he did that is how u do it every veh without stick 👍
@@1989purry yea but a stick to check it any time you want would be nice no matter what .
Cool video thank you
Good video
Thanks a lot and I have a question, why did you opens the side button while the engine on ?!
I just got done changing my daughter's 2014 Kia Soul. This is a good video except you don't need to remove all the parts on the top of the engine. I only removed the air filter cover with the throttle body tube. Then I used an 3/8" extension to reach the transmission oil fill plug. It was easy. Then I removed the transmission fluid level plug to allow new fluid to pour easily without gurgling. After driving the car for 15 minutes I drained the transmission fluid again because you will have about 4 quarts of dirty fluid up in the torque converter. Then I replaced again with new transmission fluid. That way you get about a 70% -80% new fluid change. I used Valvoline Max Multi-Vehicle Full Synthetic transmission oil. Works with Kia and Hyundai. $18.00 a gallon jug at Walmart.
So I have a question for you do you need to replace the trans filter at the time of the drain and fill? That's what I'm used to seeing over the years but I been noticing that the newer cars ar just a dra9n and fill
@@alexanderjoly2191 I did not change the filter this time around. I will the next time if my daughter keeps her Kia Soul. To change it you will need to remove the transmission pan. The transmission plug has a magnet on it so all fine metal shavings stick to it. Just wipe it clean.
One other question for you my reverse lights dosnt work I checked my bulbs and they look good to me were can i find the fuse for it so that way i can check and see
@@alexanderjoly2191 Type in the type of car in Google or CZcams and type in the problem you are having. Electrical is not my expertise but you should be able to figure it out by doing this.
@@rtwilliams1961 thank you so much you been a big help
Can you do a drain and fill without doing the last part of the transmission temperature I don’t have a scan tool for this.
On the fill plug there are 2 holes. Either of the holes has to line up with the hose attached to the hole the plug screws into. Mark your plug with a line so you know where the holes are and align accordingly when screwing in the fill plug.
If you happen to crack the plastic fill plug/bolt, go to Oreillys and have them make you a temp one from metal from a BMW Wheel lug bolt. I forgot what year/model it is from. Have them match the thread with the length of the bolt and put an O ring on it. It will work! And if you want OEM, go to KIA to get the proper one.
I would remove the fluid level check cap then pour the fluid until it over flows. The air has to escape some where. It is hard for air to escape to the fill plug hole.
Did you not see him do that with the car running?
Anybody have a part # for that gasket on the automatic transmission's Eyebolt/injection port?

hot do change the transmission fluid filter?
10:38 Dude great quality video and a great job. Appreciate. If I do not want to remove the Air Filter seat, can I fill the ATF for Transmission by the Level plug? Thank you.
3,5 quarts, how much this gearbox holds total in the box and TC?
Just disconnect ATF cooler line temporarily while filling to allow air escape - then filling will be fast and easy.
I believe this has box has TC, so this is obviously not a full flush? I did full flush on my mercedes, by pumping all the old oil via cooling line it was maybe about 12 quarts.
At 7:50 in your video, can ask why you did what you did?
Do they not have a transmission filter
Does the transmission filter has has to be changed?
Great Info Sir! Were I can find the Manual Transmision fluid for my Kia Soul 2013 1.6l or the correct fluid number? Thank You!
Ebay or amazon just use the recommend from the dealer
Go to Kia's Parts department and they will give to you, go to a reputable store and they will suggest what type of transmission fluid your vehicle takes., But if I were you I would use synthetic transmission fluid why cut corners?(My suggestion though )
I tried everything but the oil dont wanna go downs. Its spilling it thru the top where u put the oil..why
?? When changing the fluid is there a trans filter you can change or not.
No filter.
All oil are 4 lit relly you ?
If this was an older car the video would be 5 mins long
Was the car running while you had drain plug out?
He said no . But the guy at the dealer told me yes at idle.
You have to have the car running in park to check the fluid level as he was doing, and per the KIA service manual.
Yes can be running
Called the dealership and you check the Transmission fluid with the engine running
I really dont get the thinking of kia with not having a dipstick for transmission fluid its just stupid
Yep. I was noticing some possible slippage so I pulled into a parking lot and, stupid me, I went looking for the dipstick. I thought I had lost my mind when I couldn't find it. Then discovered that 2014 was when they first started making Souls without a dipstick.
The stealership does NOT want you doing your own repairs so they and others are starting to tell people Its a never need changing trans. They dont care if it blows up and they dont care about you. Smh
@@andrewjetmitchell7203 absolutely, its business and to be frank doing maintainance at a shop its not a terrible deal, they gave me free coffee twice with a desert, very comfortable launge etc. One job they evaluated for ¬700 euro, so I did it myself, it was hell, but I did it, maybe took 7-8 hours with bolts holding ball joints being stuck/rusted... but bill for parts and alignment after ¬200 euro (used good parts), so I made 500 euro in 7-8 hours, but it was hell, good news is if I do this job again I could probably do in 4-5 hours. Now I do not regret doing it myself as savings were good and experience that I got was also good, my mom has Sportage so will do this job for her :)
These new car engines designers are morons!!!!!!!
Bad you have just killed my transmission module
No, YOU have just killed your transmission module. Dumbass.
You sound sick and should be home.
