You are absolutely right. I have been doing Press Photography 46 years and the more professional you look, the less you need to prove yourself. And you need to "own it! like you have been there before!
That's a great way to put it, "own it"... Like dogs and bears, Karens can sense fear and can become more aggressive

@@p.d8423 Visual line of site is in effect today, so no differences coming up. Possibly there will be some Beyond visual line of site flights allowed in the future so it will be useful then. Also, I've found that it's not really about the absolute distance but also about the stability while it is within line of site with other interference, the farther the distance is specified, hopefully the more stable the signal in our usable distance too...
Great review on the Skydio 2+!!...... I got the Sports kit when I got this drone back in the summer, sometimes I wish I would have gotten the Cinema 🎥 kit to have the remote control to do Key Frames which is necessary that's one thing I'm missing out on.

Kind of spendy, but you don't get impressive on the cheep. The keyframe function is definitely pretty awesome. And I was a little worried when I saw you launch it and land it in your hand. But with the function of landing on the case that eliminated all that worries. I also liked the fact that you can control it in so many different ways plus the sound recording function.
Indeed a video showing all the following / cinematic functions would be cool. Excellent video like always Keith. I always know that your videos will be top notch. Thank you sir and have a great Thanksgiving.
Oh, and one more thing, you noted that you cannot fly it at night. Why would that be?
Thanks for the kind words! It is versatile and the obstacle avoidance combined with the following strength makes this incredibly powerful. Not the cheapest, but better than those for less too. The sensors it uses are vision sensors, not IR from what I can tell and if the light is too low the vision sensors likely will give false readings to the obstacle avoidance and cause the drone to go out of control. Since you can't turn off the OA, they don't allow it to take off if the light is too low.

It's a pity I didn't know about Skydio when I bought my Autel Lite. This was a very informative review for me. The jerkiness on the app and not being able to fly at night might have steered me away. All the other features make it worth considering. No mention was made of remote id.
Indeed, the Skydio is a nice product. They have since updated to std remote ID via firmware so it is RID complaint...

It is a really unique and powerful drone for sure! The VLOS (Visual Line of Site) rule is in effect already. I find that the time when the distance comes into play is that if the manufacturer states a few miles it tells me that in an area with interference you will likely still get good signal for the entire distance of VLOS without issues. If the manufacturer states 800 feet of control distance, my experience is that I might get 150 feet, which isn't that useful most of the time... Also, the FAA is considering BVLOS with the introduction of remote ID, so maybe we can be out a couple of miles in the future! 🤷♂️
Can a drone track you down if you're in another state and the drone can find anywhere you are at, the drone will definitely find you? If the drone does that's cool.
This is actually manufactured in the USA unlike Dji and that alone makes it worth the price tag.
Can't argue that, and it's a good flyer to boot.
Hey, I enjoy your videos. I fly an EXO Blackhawk 2 Pro, but I am especially interested in the Skydio 2+, since it is Made in USA. A couple question and comments. What keeps it from flying at night, a light sensor? How do you think video quality compares to video from EXO BH2P or a comparable DJI? In your video it looked like it had some blurry or non-processed spots, but that could have been my viewing screen. ?? Please keep us informed about the Made In USA feature. I believe we need some good USA consumer quality drones, but if they switch to Chinese manufacturing, they will probably end up with some of the issues EXO is facing. Thanks for your good work!
Hello! Thank you for the kind words! It can't fly at night as the way it process obstacle avoidance is by actually creating a 3D image of the area so it can navigate around things. It is not simply sending out a beam and watching for a real time reflection. While this makes the SK2+ much more accurate, there are actually 6 cameras that build this 3d image, and no light=no image, so it won't fly since you can't turn the obstacle avoidance off. The camera is decent on the Sk2+ (1/2.3 12MP) and works well in good light, but not as large of a sensor as the BH2P (1/1.3 48 MP). Depending on what model of DJI will depend on the sensor, many of the pro models use a similar or same Sony sensor size as the BH2, but the non-pros are closer to the SK2+ MP. Skydio does keep innovating and it flies excellent, so I expect they will keep getting better and better too. Good Flying! 🤙🤙

Can the camera for Skydio zoom into things. I have heard that there is a fee you can pay annually to enable additional features such as adjusting obstacle avoidance a video on those cost and the features would be nice. Thanks for your content.
Thanks! Not sure about the zoom, not that I've seen on this model. I believe the subscription model is on the enterprise versions with some advanced 360 vision features. 🤙
I liked that you said you could use sound recorded from the app in the video. How do you do that?
In the app you can configure whether sound is recorded when the drone video is recorded. So when the drone records video the app takes control of your device microphone and records the sound. Then when you stop recording video and before you power off the drone, you have to choose "sync audio" on in the app for the video you just recorded, then it will transfer it to the drone and sync it with the video. If you do not sync the video before you power off the drone it loses the audio and you can't recover it. It does work and takes a bit to sync depending on the size of the video, but a unique and useful feature...

Software updates for the 2/2+ are free. Pretty easy to update, connect, let it update. Don't have info on the enterprise version.

You say it’s not like waypoints, then immediately after you go ahead and give all the features that waypoints have on DJI drones such as the Mavic 3 Pro, the Air 3, and the Mini 4 Pro.
Fully automated, Repeatable, Cinematic, Omnidirectional Obstacle Avoidance.
So please, tell us again how it is NOT like Waypoints? When in fact, it is just a basic version of the much more feature packed Waypoints that DJI offers.
You do realize that the Mavic 3 pro, the air 3 and the Mini 4 Pro came out after this video was published and this drone had already stopped being offered by Skydio giving preference to their even more advanced commercial models? I'm not sure if the DJI models now allow the user to set up creative, cinematic camera moves between waypoints or not, I'll have to check that out, if they do, then they finally caught up to Skydio 2 years later. Good for them! Have to give credit where credit is due, DJI is an innovator in the space but also not afraid to copy the competitor if it suits them.
