Did that update apply to the SE? I thought it only went to the ATOM 3-axis. I no longer have the SE to check.

Just to control ground dust and debris from entering the cracks and crevices of the drone is all...

I think on the way in if you ask for a drone to go with the new cell phone just received I think they give you one...

In case you were genuinely asking a question about the situations, all mentioned are part 107. If the answer isn't "flying for fun only" then it is part 107. ALL flights are part 107 unless the flight qualifies for a small _exemption_ which is 100% recreational flight. In order to qualify for the exemption you need to follow 100% of the recreational rules. @@AlienDrones The question was honestly posed (apologies for the irreverence and I appreciate your answer.). The FAA's position is that technically it governs aircraft in the airspace between floors and ceilings. I'm not making the remark to be "cute" just looking at the logic and see this flaw. It would be constructive if drone pilots offered a better operational definition of "vocational" remote piloted flight vs pedestrian use of drones. I'd be excited to participate and constructively contribute to the conversation. Thanks for the response.

Thank you for the kind words! Right now I saw the ATOM with 3 batteries on sale for $349. amzn.to/3KojpqZ The Mini 4k is $449, amzn.to/3Vot2fR so from a price standpoint the ATOM is like 25% cheaper. The ATOM also has active track type visual follow, which the DJI does not have, so if that's important it may help. Also, keep in mind that the DJI Mini 4k is an old drone technology wise (which is now over 4 years old), they just renamed the Mini 2 and they lowered the price and re-released it, that's why it isn't available on DJIs site, it was already obsoleted. It is still a decent drone, don't get me wrong, it still flies really good. It is disappointing that DJI demanded that all the influencers not mention this when they reviewed the product (which they did not, but you can tell in the comments that they were really sketchy when they were asked directly). I think they re-released this to take a bite out of the ATOM sales, which filled a good low cost, decent performing drone market, but that's just IMHO. Honestly there are good reasons to get the DJI too, lots of accessories available and DJI does a good job overall. I think either would treat you well, let me know what you decide! 😎

Keep in mind it's easy for someone on a video to tell others to be cavalier about the rules but when you're in front of the judge and the FAA says you were not following the rules and here's why, the guys in the video won't be there to back you up, just sayin. In your other comment you mentioned you don't have a clue about CBOs. That in itself is against the rules and means the FAA (and the law) will judge your flights against part 107 rules and will add this to what will be a large list of 107 rules not followed, doesn't matter if they can't prove one beyond a reasonable doubt. The FAA isn't out to get people, I've actually found most to be really decent and they love the hobby. If you make some effort to become knowledgeable and follow the rules at all you likely won't have an issue even if something goes wrong.

@@BrianMackey2010 I had a drone like that recently. Almost feels like they use old cable tech or something... In my experience the DJI and the Lark Max sound is pretty comparable so it comes down to the small stuff that feels right or wrong, like a cable not fitting, or the case not holding all the stuff I need and I having to buy a second one... I guess that's a good problem to have when the tech is good!

Sure, ask Mikey from Philly Drone Life. He's not in court because he crashed, it's about a pattern of recklessness and who reports you to the FAA for further investigation. It's fairly remote for the FAA to "catch" you unless something goes wrong and an accident happens or someone reports you to the FAA first. To be fair, the FAA doesn't typically prosecute initially and will try and educate first. regardless.

Over means directly "over" or vertically "above". If every part of the drone is off to the side an inch for the entire flight path, it is not "over". Keep in mind though that the "over" definition is part 107, if you are flying recreationally it depends what CBO you are following, some require a 25' minimum distance to all people. @@robp.1480 Since they are very similar in size and weight and since there are very feature rich modules out there for more money, so not sure of a comparison is warranted. Unless it has an AK feature, if it works at all that's probably all the info needed. We have an ongoing discount code for the Holy Stone on the channel which takes it to $71, so only $11 difference. Hopefully I can get an ongoing discount from Ruko, if it would get below that magic $50 mark it would be the first to break the psychological barrier of $50 that was estimated by the FAA in the NPRM. That would be significant.

Unfortunately, I'm unaware of anything in place that will allow manned aviation to see the broadcast.

It is a Spec war on paper to imply "mine is better." Similar to battery life spec, it is so inflated that it is mostly irrelevant so don't be tricked by this. A lot of times it will show 6 km range and you're lucky if you get 1... There is a possible benefit that if one shows 10 km range that hopefully it might have better signal in a "noisy" area than one that states 1 km, but that's about it.

Compass calibration at least 10 times in multiple locations and 3 different 720R drones... Also calibrated the gyro (down and to the left) multiple times as well, but in my understanding this is for the gimbal gyroscope, not the GPS position.

You can swap the module between aircraft if flying recreationally, if flying 107 then a separate module is needed for each airctaft.
