    When Jake started responding I was like "Wow!".
    We have to learn never to give for granted what words like "God" meant to the early Christians. It's a big mistake to presume that they thought of the concept of God like Christians do today.

      I've previously asked hie some straight forward questions and he instantly goes quiet. Same thing when I explain why he's wrong.
      Examples of his videos:
      1) His "cherry picking" video is perhaps the most ironic as he has repeatedly shown that he does exactly the same things as he accuses other people of doing.
      2) On his "conversation" with Linguas Amo about Amenhotep II not being the Pharaoh of the exodus (in which they both appear childish), I have left some questions for him. His silence has been deafening.
      3) "Ask them to provide evidence" - guess what happened? I provided evidence to support my statement and both he and the other person suddenly went silent.
      4) Indoctrination - no explanation received on why he uses the arguments he does.

    I am a subdeacon in Byzantine Catholic Church and I agree with Jake Brancatella that St Justin Martyr didn't teach post Nicene Trinitarianism. I can go with the details but I will cut the chase and refer people to read from the editor of New Advent who summarized that St Justin Martyr didn't teach post Nicene Trinitarianism. This is similar with St Theophilus of Antioch who originated the word Trinity. St Theophilus distinguished impersonal Logos innate in God's mind as endiathetos versus personal Logos caused by God to create the world as prophorikos before time began. What I would recommend to Jake is to avoid calling the Logos as created. While I understand why but this word would make him ignored by Christians. Instead I recommend use patristic word namely caused. Both the Logos and the Holy Spirit are caused and have their beginning in God who alone the one true God or the sole divine monarchy and origin. Arianism spread fast not because Arians converting people. These people already subordinationists before Protopresbyter Arius. I recommend Anatolios Khalid Way to Nicaea. He wrote a dissertation on subordinationism in pre Nicene Christians. Even St Athanasius still call the man assumed by the Logos as a creature. I hope we can have in depth discussion on pre Nicene Christianity and why subordinationism predated Arianism. Do you plan to review your debate with Jay Dyer? Can I request you debating Ubi Petrus or Erick Ybarra?

    • @theactualuser
      @theactualuser Před 3 měsíci

      Hey,
      Is the Logos of God, God himself? Because this video shows a quote from John behr which discusses that the tradition was that the word was an intermediary for God because God was too transcendent to the created reality. Wouldn't that mean that the word ISN'T God but God's supernatural-divine intermediary (a super messenger of God) since the word can go into the creation but as he states that God can't go in his creation as he is too transcendent? If the word was God in the very same sense as the God that John behr talks about, then the word wouldn't have been able to enter the created reality too, right? I wanna know your position on this. When the tradition clearly implies that the word was NOT God in the same sense as THE GOD OF ISRAEL but an intermediary which enters creation on his behalf. Wouldn't that just make Jesus a super-divine agent of God rather than THE God himself?

      @@theactualuser I recommend you to Luther's anathema against Calvin on the original Formula of Concord. Melanchton later removed the anathema but Luther condemned Calvin for polytheism. I'm a subdeacon in Byzantine Catholic Church. Both Catholic and Orthodox deny the Aseity of the Son. The Son is God by participation not by identity. If by identity then Trinity would be tritheism. Exactly Jake Brancatella argument. That's why Lutherans, Catholics, and Eastern Orthodox condemned Extracalvinisticum heresy. I do hope Jake Brancatella would be open to have zoom call with me. I believe I can help him nailing Trinity better. God the Father is inaccessible. No one has seen the Father except the Son. The Son here is analogical. Similar to how human mind conceived and begat idea. Just as idea can be metaphorically said begotten similarly the Word was begotten by God and not God by Himself. I hope this help. I can help Jake Brancatella with more references on subordinationism in the early Church. Protestantism deny any form of subordinationism. Catholic and Orthodox profess subordinationism.
