- There is no denying the English language is quirky (especially when it comes to grammar rules). Teaching grammar doesn't have to be painful though! Today I'm sharing how we have continued to do solid grammar review and teaching using Fix It Grammar from IEW.

Same! I love your attitude towards things.
Thank you! Exactly what I needed! 😊
I just found your channel and I’m learning so much, thank you!
I hope this isn’t too personal, but my child has Duane’s syndrome. I noticed you possibly might have it as well?! I had to mention it because it is so rare. I hope I’m not over stepping and I in no way mean to point something out. It is so subtle. If that is what you have, seeing your is very encouraging to me.
I’ve order so many books for our first Guest Hollow unit! We also will be using Fox It! Grammar next too!
Good catch! I do have Duane’s syndrome in one eye. Diagnosed as a kid and was told as long as it didn’t affect reading I could just leave it be. And I’m a huge reader! Now I just tell people I can do a cool trick with making my eyes go two different directions 😆
@@mypracticallyimperfectlife Oh this is so encouraging to me. Thank you! ❤️🙏
Hello, I found your channel recently as well. I have learned quite a bit from you and I am on my 10th year of homeschooling! I had a question about IEW. Did you have to do the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style seminar when you started to teach your children this grammar program? Thank you for taking the time to make these home school videos!
No, you should be fine with Fix It Grammar without needing the writing seminar. It’s pretty much an open and go grammar curriculum.
My child will be in 9th grade, but has never done Fix-It grammar. How do I know which book level should I buy for her?
IEW recommends you check out the student samples for the various book levels (found on their website) and consider your students current strength in grammar concepts. Officially, they recommend students who have struggled in grammar to start with book one. I would say at the high school level you could probably look at start with either book 3 or four, again just considering how much grammar instruction they’ve had during middle school, and how comfortable they feel with the different concepts thus far.
They do also offer a free four week trial of their grammar books online. So that might be a way for you to check out what they have and how well a particular one works for your student
