dude, I like your playing a lot! these Streetmasters by Martin are my favorite guitars-- I have a lot of more expensive Martins and Gibsons, but what I like most about the Streetmasters are that they are so lightweight and resonant... Anyway-- Many thanks for your review! PS the guitar is made in Nazareth, PA... it is because the materials-- mahogany is imported from Central America, I believe, that the wording is how it is..
That sounds like acoustic perfection. All of the frequencies you need and none that you don't. The quirk with Martins is that most times when you are playing them they do sound too dark and muffled from a players perspective... but the sound the audience/microphone hears is completely different than what you're hearing. It's woody and perfect.
You are DEAD wrong about this guitar not being made in the USA bro, Martins and taylors are only made In mexico or the USA nowhere else. literally none of the wood on that guitar except maybe the spruce bracing inside is native to the US so it has to be sourced from around the world. Mahogany from centeal america rosewood from india etc.

I bought one today from The Guitar Center and it came with a hard case. My $800 Martin came with the case he showed in the video.
I just bought a new martin D15m and it came with a nice hardcase. I love the D15m it's the best I have ever played and owned .

i had a $1000 guitar center credit and i bought this STREETMASTER model too but in OM version. i tried out this D-15M too but preferred the smaller body OM size. but it was a tough decision to make, both were really good

The thing with the “Made in USA” label is that there are strict requirements on the % of components that have to be from the USA. It’s often impossible to meet those requirements since guitars typically include woods that don’t grow in the USA (e.g. Rosewood comes from India and in the past from Brazil, Ebony from Africa, etc.)
So basically nothing is truly 100% made in 1 single country anymore. Made in USA isn't 100% made in USA. Maybe 70% Made in USA.. lol

I got the GPC version and love it, came with a hard shell case, sounds nice and balanced, nice Woody tone too, I’m not a fan of guitars that all you hear are the metal from the strings. Martin all the way. 🎸👍🏼

I’ll say this about the difference in gloss/ matte. I wasn’t a fan of the matte finish at first, but after owning one it has completely changed my mind! I played a furch blue OM then played a furch blue plus OM, identical to each other other than a gloss top on the plus model. The tone between the two were night & day different, the matte topped blue OM was just sweeter all over the entire spectrum. They really hold up well, I’ve bumped, & scratched both gloss & matte about the same force & could visibly see a scratch on the gloss, but couldn’t find one with a magnifying glass on the matte! Not to mention how the matte catches the stage lights compared to gloss, just completely different. A big fan off the matte finish now, & as far as tone/ playability my gpc streetmaster is priceless in my opinion! Great video, I really enjoyed it!
I have. D15M that came with a hard shell case and I would prefer that case!! The hard shell is HEAVY MAN!!!

These newer martins usa or mexico can last decades to come. The new generation of guitars cant be compared to older guitars. Just much better technology and innovation overall
Lets revisit that in 2038. I have one of these its my favorite accoustic to play. Its fuller sounding than my "richie haven guild" or my taylor 500 series both great guitars. The mahogany is the difference imo...

It’s gonna sound darker. It’s mahogany back, sides and top. Know your woods if your gonna rate a guitar. Blues players will appreciate the tone of a d15. You want brighter and loudness. Invest in a hd35 or a hd28

You got my attention when you said you traded for a Gibson I'm considering the same for the same model.
I've played the guitar...I love the neck. But for 100 bucks less the ooo15 has a gloss mahogany top hard case....but the neck is different..... so I'm wondering how the guitar is doing now...do you have regrets?
1 of the best feeling acoustic necks I’ve played. The satin finish is a unique feel to the hands

I have a cherry blossom burst prs only 300 made and an american strat from 88. I own 6 guitars this one is the cheapest but my favorite to play these days :). To me guitars are like fine art i like to play them and im good but not great. I appreciate the craftsmanship as im a builder.

In the uk the 15m is at least £100 more in the streetmaster version and the straight 15m has a decent hard case. The 15m in the dread or the 000 version is however a great guitar. I have had a 00015m for a few years, bought it used love it
I have a 3000€ 000-28 and there is the same write “crafted in Nazareth....” 😬 so I think it’s made in the US

I really like it, obviously the sound is smoother than a dreadnought, but more focused and for the short scale i like it too because the strings are a little bit softer and I have small hands 😅 so it’s good for me but not a must for all. (I’m sorry for my English)
The Martin D-15 is made in Nazareth,. Mahogany isn't as bright a spruce, but I love the sound of mahogany....and I love
the sound of a Martin.
I had a bigger budget for a Gibson I had my eye on. Walked out with a 000 Streetmaster. Just a guitar I don’t want to put down.

@@everysingleguitars I had two. Gibson L-00 and a Gibson J45. I just liked this simple Martin. I just don't seem to care about bling. It's just so lightweight and easy to play. Plus, I don't feel like I need to treat the guitar like a case-queen. Love your reviews man.

Hah, good honest review! Everybody has a fave Santa Cruz, 50’s gibsons RI made Guilds but all things considered You play Maton you play a Martin. If you play it in your lap for more than 3 hours and you ignore your hot girlfriend for that time? It’s a good pick!

Onest review of how you feel about this guitar and great playing. Rarely I see anyone picking using just thumb nd first finger (if I saw it correctly...) Especially impressive thumb work there.
What it comes to Martin Streetmaster it sounds like you were dissapointed about it. Just wonderring why did you take it in a first place? Most of the factors you didn't like can be noticed immediatelly when you pick up the guitar and give it some sound. Think it's always a relative question how much to pay for a any guitar. Ofcourse used are cheaper - if you just can find one. And I quess you always have to pay little bit extra if you wanna get a guitar which is well known of its tradition, guality and name like Martin. Anyway I like Streetmaster very much. Think the sound is very natural and clear also when finger picking and it looks unike. Beautifull nice guitar and yes, the kick back is very handy a good quality. Very interesting review anyway, have to check some other videos you have made!

Dude! Even if the technology is just as good in other countries it is very disappointing that Martin takes jobs
away from American workers to exploit cheap labor in Mexico.
The Martin "X" series guitars and other models are made in their Mexico facility.
However the guitar you are showing was made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
Martin is still a business at the end of the day ... if they could get similar quality labor for cheaper... it would be the unwise biz decision to not take that offer .... but I get what u mean
It wasn't really Martin's decision to start producing in Mexico, they had to just to compete.. and Martin didn't want to lay off any employees, and they didn't.. they cross trained their employees so they were able to start producing in Mexico without laying off anyone.
Lol yeah def not the traditional feel. But I hear this bear finish can allow more sound to come through. It does sound great.

This is a DSS-15M I believe.
The SS stands for sloped shoulder. Notice the way the shoulders are sloped in and not parallel with the rest of the body.
Crafted in USA is the same as made in USA dude. Also the light satin finish is intentional as it promotes good resonance as compared to a thicker finish... in addition, D-15m’s now come with a hard shell case.
dunno if this guitar is 100% purely made in USA tho...

Its a solid mahogany guitar, i have one of these i paid 1100 brand new from guitar center. Its one of the few martins you can kick, drop, leave in a trunk in florida for two days and wont be ruined. Hence the "streetmaster" lol. Its made to be abused as much as a martin can be....

Dude it means they sourced the wood. Absolutely made in USA. Gibson and everyone company in the United States sources wood from around the world. The reason for that is because of types of wood and availability. And it’s mahogany. If you want a brighter sound go spruce top
Crafted in PA is the same as made in PA so yes it was made in the US. All 15 level and higher are US made. Martin has always used the word "crafted" instead of "Made" because it's more artisan sounding. Obviously the wood is not grown in the US as mahogany doesn't grow here, so the woods are imported (probably the cheaper African mahogany or similar, same as your Gibson.)
It probably hasn’t that Made in USA because rules and laws are very restrictive. The wood comes from Honduras, India and many places.

Just so you know all the Martin 15 style guitars are made in the custom shop in Nazareth, PA.
I own this guitar and it’s a beast to play. The action can only be lowered so much as is with Martin guitars and it’s just not enough for me. I’m use to Alvarez guitars and so this Martin definitely has higher action. Its a good guitar but it’s just made for a specific player I think….It’s definitely a finger pick work guitar, not so much for a pick strummer. It’s just too dark of a sound which is because of the full body of Mahogany wood. It’s like $1,400.00 on line but I got mine for $1,100.00….But an Alvarez MD60 for $800.00 could be a better deal as I kinda wish I would have just bought another one of those at this point as the action on this Martin is too high for me and it just has too dark a sound. . My older Alvarez, the MD60CE, I could play that guitar for hours and be just fine. But that had the cedar wood top, I want the spruce top actually, if I can get one because that way I can get that a nice bright sound, but I’ll stick with the dreadnought body style that way I’ll get that deeper body lower tones along with the brighter spruce sound. Other body styles are good too I just love the Dreadnought.

@@cooloutac I actually settled on a Taylor 114ce-sb…I’m quite satisfied and now I’m liking my Martin more and more as well, but I’m realizing the Martin D15m is more designed for a folk style of music. So I’ve been messing around with that and it sounds good for that. So idk now. Lol

Just traded in my myrtle wood Breedlove today and got this in the GPC version. It’s perfection if your looking for a more natural earthy tone. With tax I payed $1695 and absolutely happy with it. Went in to buy a Taylor and this felt so much better to me and I like the tone overall better too but still love the Taylor tone. Mine came with hard shell case.
That guitar is made in the USA. The wood is from other countries. Like the fingerboard is mexican royal mahogany or Katalox

So if all of a guitar parts is made in China but shipped to USA and assembled in USA.. then it’s considered “Made in USA?”
Then I would say no. Sublime guitars craft their guitars that way and then label it on the headstock "Globally Crafted." But because this is Martin I'm assuming that planks of wood from wherever come to their factory and are cut, carved, shaped and crafted in Nazereth, PA. In the listing the only wood that is called anything other than Mahogany is the fretboard. I may be wrong, but all their other guitars made in Mexico state they are made in Mexico.
@@everysingleguitars the the raw materials are sourced from all over the world. But in Nazareth they are molded and assembled in the US. The neck isnt made in China, body in Mexico and slapped together. The materials are just that materials. And they are crafted in the US
Great playing but maybe use a tuner before recording. That E string is driving me nuts..LOL
Next time you trade a guitar you should check up on it-the guitar sells all over the place for $1399-you can pick it up cheaper-it is also common now for companies to provide gig bags at this price point-if you are going to do these reviews get abetter handle on the market.

Your playing style is more suited to a D18.
You’ll get that familiar loud Taylor brightness but it comes with a huge bottom end boom; the trademark Martin “growl”.

Kind of weird. I bought a regular D-15M new last weekend and it comes with a hardshell case.
Street master always comes with that gig bag. The vintage technique cost is the hard case cost.

Do some research on tone woods and body shapes and how they affect the tone , Taylor workshop videos have great info on what wood combinations and body shapes tend to lean certain ways sonically .

The thing is probably any plastics, metals, and possibly the wood itself is sourced from somewhere else.

First of all, the 15m series are made in the USA. Crafted is a more sophisticated way of saying made.
2nd of all, That guitar is supposed to come w/ a hard shell case. Look at the website. I think the guy who traded kept the case for another guitar and just bought a gig bag to save some extra money

Off point but US made products do not have to be marked. Products made outside US do. The marking indicates it was made in US and wood and hardware are imported but does not change origin. I am an expert in intl trade.

Acccctually it really doesn’t have as much to or anything to do with the ability of another country to make a certain quality. It’s actually multi-faceted, but most notably it’s bc manufacturing jobs for a country of over 300 million ppl are very important for lower to middle class; and if American’s are buying things, buying them from their own country is a good way to ensure lower skilled workers can still work. If American’s only buy foreign goods bc the labor’s cheaper you’ll end up with everything being made somewhere else, ergo no one to buy those goods bc they don’t have jobs? So to justify the expense of the labor in the U.S. companies have to make better quality products. As the price goes up there’s a diminishing increase in quality so again, to justify the labor expense the American made guitars and many other goods, yes, they will have to take advantage of the better margins off of that price to quality graph.
It's the mahogany that doesn't give the bright sound. I don't really like that bright sound. Too ringy. I hate even putting new strings on.

Well, it’s not really about the country a guitar is built in, for me. It’s usually about factory (or the amount of computerized technology used) vs. hand-built. I tend to turn my nose up to anything produced from a factory. Give me an older Martin or a Collings, Preston Thompson, Hooper, or Boucher (a Canadian luthier).
