When the video goes straight into the review without reading the reviews all I kept thinking was, how bad is this place that he can't even read yelp, I got to watch this and see how bad is this going to be. I was also thinking maybe it's so bad that he just said no way and tried a second bad place (not including the place that was closed from the last video). I'm glad I watch the entire video to find out the reason, there were NO reviews, I hope Dayms ONLY review gets seen by the guys so they can make some improvements.
I had this place myself, and there weren’t many reviews even in 2023. I did leave my own review on Yelp after my second go with the place. It seems like it’s more about what you order from them because I had a completely different order than he did and I gave it a 4.
My order when I left the review was as follows: burnt ends, Caesar’s Salad, cornbread, and a slice of key lime pie
I would like to try a home made version of sweet potatoes and apple slices. It might be very good, if the ingredients are good from the start.
It's a pretty phenomenal combination, so long as the brown sugar and cinnamon get in there. It's a staple holiday dish in our family-- slices of sweet potato and Granny Smith apple, dotted with butter, sprinkled with brown sugar, cinnamon, and a few dried cranberries. It is pretty bangin'. I hated to see how sad the version this place served was.

Gas Station food IS NO BUENO!
those cups have been setting with that food in them probably since yesterday, same for the ribs. They got microwaved. No full restaurant should have a menu that big, much less a gas station sized one. That would be impossible with just 2 cooks
No doubt. A big menu like that is a bad sign, especially when it's a bunch of different items like that. I was thinking those ribs probably sat under a heat lamp, got sauce poured on them, and tossed in a microwave to warm it up.
So crispy water is a no-go, but soggy water is? Lol, love the content.
As always, that was a funny review but honest.🤣
What's up Daym, try to do a Korea Bbq restaurant for best or worst for your boy, always checking out the channel and I am usually quiet but I thought I should a suggestion for you. Keep it up. 👍👍👍

You should smell smoke the minute you pulled up. My guess is the ribs are boiled off-site and oven basted in the gas station hence the water sauce.

iv'e seen those ribs before in the supermarket, they come in boxed packaging already cooked and ready to go with all the sauce, all you need to do is reheat them for 10 mins.

Daym. You seriously need to get up to Ellington and give Backroads Smokin BBQ a review. Their brisket is on point, and their sweet tender pork loin sandwich special is a can’t miss. Anna’s Mac and Cheese is second only to my wife’s family recipe. Baked beans are sweet and have a great fresh jalapeño flavor.

Being from the south, I always try collard greens first. If they can’t do that right, there is no reason to try anything else. It’s a huge staple , more so than mac, so it needs to be done properly. Most places just do it with vinegar and sugar and think that it’s fine, which tells me there is no way they do ribs correctly.

daym, let me tell you something big bro. I would have advised you to not even go there. There used to be an uncle willies in west haven ct and to no surprise they closed down after only being open for maybe 2 years. The ribs are always lack luster and a lot of their sides don’t hit. Not even their fries are good. The only good thing I had from my few visits to the west haven location was the Burnt ends and sometimes the brisket. Thanks for only confirming that this place isn’t hitting still.
P.S. a friend of mine used to be an exterminator for orkin and let’s just say he had a few service calls at the west haven location of uncle willies. As always thank you for a great video daym , can’t wait for the next one. Stay blessed and stay happy big bro ❤️💪🏼

I first tried uncle Willies bbq in Waterbury ct in 1998. They had the BIGGEST burgers I’ve ever seen! Tried the west haven location 15 years later and was disappointed.

They used to have a main store location in Seymour and I believe one other town, but the Seymour location was solid but it closed down due to not getting any business.

Believe me, Daym; I'd be really upset too if half the food I ordered was half this and half that, I expect that everything is to taste as good as I'd imagine it. Well, I thank you for your input on the restaurant; it saves me the trouble of doing research and then going a long way for nothing.

I beg to differ. There's a gas station near me called GT's. It's a single family owned location and the food is amazing! They do catering and have an extensive menu. Just look up GT's Cascade Md

Big Unc Drops, the best BBQ I had in an unusual location is at HEB supermarket in Texas, called True Texas BBQ. It's an easy 4/5 everyday!

theres a mini mart in washington state located right by the ilani casino, it has some of the best food ive ever had, the macaroni, their wings there onion rings are great!!
