- Eurovision Hosts trying to handle the crowd as they chant Cha Cha Cha while the results are being read out. I have gathered together various clips from during the one hour results show, and written reactions on screen - I have found and put together one whole minute of the crowd chanting Cha Cha Cha.

Millions of people choose the winner. But the juries, who are a minority, decide otherwise...it's sad.
Indeed. Not only Finland, but I think at least France, Portugal, Armenia and Norway would like a word with them. I mean seriously, wtf was that with La Zarra?! Her voice is EASILY as good as Loreen's and so was her performance.
We know very little about these juries and I'm wondering, why the hell we do not get a say about choosing them! Also, someone made a good comment on another clip about Swedish music business connections and, well, would be interesting to see where they lead and who stands to gain for railroading all jury votes to her.

Seriously don't know how the voting works, but it isn't straight!! The audience members at the event on the night, witnessing the live acts, should each have a single vote at least, after all, they have paid a lot of money to be there! that would probably have secured the win for Finland!
They print results this is politic. This show you that people have nothing to say. They earned millions but the result is as they wished.
He looked so defeated when he realised that Loreen got the points she needed to win. I felt so bad for him, even more after he apologised for not winning. He stole the show, ate all the crumbs and he is *everywhere* on social media today! I hope he's proud of his performance. I'm not Finnish, but I'm proud of him! He came, he saw and he conquered 💪He will be remembered!!

You're not wrong, but don't forget the public also robbed other entries of their victory last year. Ukraine 'won' because of public sympathy not music.

We pay for votes. We vote Finland. We gave Finland most of public vote. Hes our winner!
Yeah I’m in the US and got to vote for the first time and was shocked when I learned it cost money to vote. Made me realize why the level of anger and disappointment is at such high levels after Eurovision, especially when it’s the jury’s winner (like this year) or a compromise winner between the jury and televote (like 2019). It’s also kind of expensive (at least it was for me, and I posted in a fan group where a few others said it was expensive where they live, too)! Like I get the anger now, especially at juries. In the US our tv shows with audience participation don’t charge you to vote…but that’s probably more because of the dark history in the US with poll taxes which when combined with Jim Crow laws were used to disenfranchise lots of people (people of color after they got the right to vote, Catholics, Jews, anyone not Protestant Christians, women after they got the vote, etc). It was so bad that poll taxes are constitutionally banned by the 24th amendment. Quite the shock to me this year and looking back at past results since I’ve been a fan since 2016 and remembering people being really upset like in 2019 and it makes so much more sense. Before now I just thought “Wow! I know the fans are passionate, but it’s just a tv competition. Why are they so upset?” You spent money on it. As an American, I get it. I don’t like to see my money just disappear. At least when I donate to a charity or political campaign I get a bumper sticker, small book, little tote bag, water bottle, or something for my donation and I spent a lot more on votes than I have ever had to to get such a thing from a charity or political campaign (and you can decline the “gift” when donating, too….I’ve done that many times, especially when it’s a charity I give to regularly anyways and am surprised that they still offer me a gift even though they know I’ll likely donate anyways).
You didn't pay enough I guess 🤷🏻♂️
И это не даёт вам права вести себя как неуправляемое стадо.
P.S Я тоже голосовала за Финляндию, если что.

I'm sorry, but THIS is what we want. A genuine connection to an artist and their song. Someone who actually fires passion and love in people and not just an "eh, will do" attitude about their art. additionally, when the audience sees what's coming and what's gonna happen i kind of can't blame them for being mad and supportive lol
@Kuzma Minin nevertheless, it IS a connection lol
also Käärijä didn't really enter as a "singer", but much more as a performance and recording artist
who do u mean by an "eh will do" attitude? i hope not loreen as she puts everything in her art aswell. like it or not.
i understand it if people want to get behind their favourite act but it's a bit disrespectful to the other artists (and presenters) tbh
I absolutely love it when the entre audience cheers for an artist. You could hear people cheering for Finland in 2021 semi finals, people singing along to Fai rumore so loudly you couldn't even hear Diodato at the beginning of the song last year & individual shouts of "Slovenia!" during this year's 2nd semi final. But this. This was literally the entire arena chanting Cha cha cha. It is said you can never make everyone like you, but Käärijä won over the entire live audience with his performance
The audience also sang along to my country with ŠČ (although I knew we never had a chance to win anyway) but it still was nice, especially since our entries dont get that most of the time.

Loreen's win was the most anticlimactic moment in recent ESC history. Loved how the british commentator was audibly bummed out. Even the press conference was the most sleep inducing stuff out there...
I disagree, the most anticlimactic and disappointing moment in recent esc history in my opinion was the Ukraine win last year. Good song, but not even close to a winner for me, which is not the case with Sweden this year. Yes it was obvious it was going to win but the song and the performance were stellar, so I think it's very well deserved.
@@pierfrancesc0 yea but it was missing the x factor, it was alright, a friggin ballad, but finland, man, thats an anthem

Just wanna say that from like 1994 till 2008 juries didnt vote at all and we can notice how the 2000s had the most diverse winners with a lot of contries having their first victory just from televotes. Real shame what happend last night
Y del año pasado con España 🤔
I think it's definitely political, I don't think eurovision is truly about celebration of diversity and bringing all of europe together.
It very much seems like some countries didn't like the chances of eastern european countries winning, because lets not pretend, eastern europe faces a lot of prejudice and in many ways the "eliteness" shows through in eurovision. The LGBTQ support (which in of it self isn't bad) is definitely part of the image of a "civiliced" europe and not genuine (it's also why Israel has tried to play the image of a very queer country to make them seem like the civiliced force against Palestine).
The time they decided to bring back the juries for "fairness" seems to correlate well with eastern europe coming to eurovision and starting to take the wins, and some people not being happy with that.
I'm rambling a bit, but I hope something was coherent lol
@@ellem8990 i absolutely agree💀💀 wanna talk how slavic nations have 4 wins altogether? 3 from ukraine, 1 from russia and serbia. We slavs dont stand a chance in eurovision because the juries said so. You can just sit back and watch how sweden gets pumped by the juries whilst other contries rot in the footer of the left side of the scoreboard.

@@ellem8990na Eurovision in Eastern Europe was more lgbt than western back in the 2000s, Russia had a lesbian couple on Eurovision, and there’s more examples etc. there’s a video that explains it very well, called the queer politics of Eurovision, it’s quite long though. But yea, they even added top 5 system right after Germany didn’t qualify in 2006 I believe too. It’s very anti Eastern Europe historically.
Käärijä just arrived in Helsinki and hes just walking in a HUGE crowd and hugging and talking to RANDOM people. 🤣🤣
This years Eurovision taught me two things:
1. Käärijä is an amazin artist and he was basically the most beloved man of the evening and should have won.
2. Even after all my years of watching Eurovision I still underestimated how corrupt and lost these damn Juries are. There were discrepancies in years before but this year felt like something you see in dystopian movies where the government forces their will on everyone else. The way the whole Stadium almost defyingly Chanted Cha Cha Cha when they slowly realized how heavily the Juries favored Sweden really kind of gives me goosebumps of a kind I thought I could never get from Eurovision
Sweeden was voted by both, jury and televote in the same way, and Finland wasn't forgotten by the jury, non at all. However Italy was totally overrated by the jury.
@@enriquef9395 no they weren’t. Sweden didn’t get a single 12 points from any of the countries in televotes. The only reason she won was because the juries had voted enough for her to gain the lead despite less televotes. Otherwise she would have lost & frankly she did lose to a majority of us
@@enriquef9395 I have to agree.
This year feels slightly wrong in some way, especially seeing so many meh songs rank so high like my own country's (Italy) and Poland (still feel fishy about what happened in the regional finals)
like... How are we 4th?????
And then we have great songs like Slovenia (absolutely didn't deserve to be so low) and (my personal favorite) Austria not even getting in the top 10... And it's not just them, many great songs were done dirty both by televoters and the jury. Listing them all would require me an entire A4 sized paper.
I can understand that televoters have different tastes and that most people tend to like more pop songs like Sweden's and poland's but.... It still feels wrong. Especially knowing how biased the jury is.
The fact that none of the juries voted for Norway, yet she got over 200 from the fans says everything.
Well said. This was creepy. It is like EBU has decided beforehand that Käärijä kind of a singer can't win because it's too much "circus", which it is even not. The song is catchy and VERY well produced song. Carnevalic but still uncompromising artistically.
I would understand the dislike, if it was Verka Serduchka kind of "tra la la la" melodie. Which Cha cha cha had been compared to. But Cha cha cha is much more diverse and good of a Song. Where Lasha tumbai was more of a protest song, and week as a song in the end.
If you know what I try to say!
Lasha Tumbai came as second for a good reason.
But Cha cha cha is not circus, it is Not a joke. It was well made and there was professional dancers as cha-cha dancers. There is ironic/satirical meaning behind it, at the same time with the couragement of being yourself freely.

Of course, just ignore the millions of people who watch this show every year and spend money on voting so that they can make profit. Embarrassing

I really liked that host until that point (and when she said 'he's talking for gods sakes). I think maybe their directors were telling them to move on due to time pressure but she came across as rude (and also rude when talking to the Icelandic representative when he gave the vote result). If I want to be told off by a stern woman for no reason, then I will go and annoy my mother 🤣
@@macalauresmuse Yeah i can see how it can be interpreted that way. But honestly, that's just a light and playful chiding of the audience by the presenter. It happens in UK live tv all the time and it's absolutely not meant to be serious. Hell, she's then dancing along to it 5 minutes later.
Graham Norton is a UK tv legend who's constantly having fun with the audience in his show as well, but this absolutely feels like the show producers had to move quick to keep the timing right.

The juries got it very very wrong. I don't mean offence to Sweden/Loreen but it was not a standout song and I don't think she performed to her best. If the juries are 'industry experts' then I think they don't know their jobs very well.
That must be one of the dumbest comment in this hysteria.

I could only watch the final this year, but I was rooting for Finland so bad. Käärijä's song hooked me from the first time I heard it, and the same goes for everyone I watched the final with! Did you notice how, after Loreen won, the music in the hall was turned up to be EXTREMELY loud. People were still chanting cha cha cha and they had to drown it out by force to not show how the crowd was not excited for her at all. Big L for the ESC.
This isn't new at all. Any year Russia had an entry in the last 10 years they try to completely drown out the crowd if the crowd response is considered "not in spirit with the contest"- I'm sure it's happened with other entries slightly less deserving of the boos too. I think the year that one guy for Portugal who didn't even like Eurovision won there was a lot of boo muting for being a lame winner
I believe it's happened in other cases as well.
This is nonsense. Whoever wins, people should respect the performer and the country. Nothing will change when people sabotage the song. It's the same when speakers announce the votes. They interrupt the announcement.

I mean to me it looks so obvious that the whole Eurovision institution decided probably a long time ago that Sweden has to win in 2023 so that they can host the 50th anniversary of ABBA's Eurovision win. It's so obvious. So they crafted a typical Eurovision winner song, very much a copy of Euphoria which makes it even more boring, to make sure it can be justified that she won again. What's most insulting though is that they decided that it doesn't matter about all the other contestants this year, because they've already decided they're gonna send in Loreen to win and that's it. It's really appalling!

Sweden won because they received the highest number of points. That's totally in accordance with the rules of the competition as they are today. But perhaps the rules should be changed?
If Eurovision wants a 50 year jubilee they can do that anywhere.
The juries favor other things than audiences do.
They're also there to reduce the risk of start order or buddy-voting determining the outcome. Neither of those were really a factor this year, though.
Imagine the cringe next year when the host Sweden will inevitably bring up ABBA's 50-year-old legacy in their show and everyone just rolls their eyes whenever they do that. The same awkward energy of someone demanding you sing them "happy birthday" instead of saying it.

Eurovision should be about the people of europe uniting to enjoy music together. The people! Not some "professional" jury (even Finland benefited from this stupidity of neighbour countries voting each other out of solidarity). It should just be the peoples vote and that's that! Käärijä won my cynical heart over with his wonderful performance which brought joy to all europe in these troubling times. Käärijä, the peoples champion always!
The Jury provides balance though. Removing them would return the contest to the 2000s, which could end up destroying the whole thing
@@Taevas___ It's the juries that are now destroying the whole thing! All televote would be so much better.
I think they should lower the amount of how much the jury votes count. For example 15-20% jury and rest of it televotes or something. Almost every single country with great performances got f*ucked up by the jury so there was no chance for anyone else to win except loreen which clearly wasn't televote winner aka peoples choice.

This is really the public vs Eurovision
The public rigged Eurovision in 2022 when Ukraine won 😂
And that's why I usually don't watch the ESC (anymore). The public pays money to vote for their favourite artist. Finland won by far and still it doesn't matter because the jury is just too powerful. Feels like a waste of money + effort and also leaves a bad feeling for the "official" winner (in this case Sweden). Imagine you win officially but the majority didn't actually vote for you and people shout another artists name....
TBH ESC made a mistake all those years ago giving not necessarily adding jury votes, but simply giving them too much power compared to audience votes....yes technically its 50-50 but when you compare millions of votes behind that 50% televotes vs few people behind jury votes, its not the right way to do it.
At very least for next year they should listen to the feedback and change it to 60% audience votes from total score and 40% jury votes or make the difference even bigger (in Finland's UMK its only 25% jury votes and 75% public votes).
Anyhow the unfortunate side effect of all this is that now some Käärijä fans are stupidly enough directing all this negative feedback to Loreen's social media accounts and she doesnt deserve that at all, while Käärijä also then has had to tell his fans to calm down and chill out and that its not Loreen's fault.
Anyhow I hope everyone understands to send their feedback to ESC instead of harrassing Loreen, who only did what any artist would do, which was to do her best and give the best performance possible which juries loved so much that the ending result was already clear after the jury votes. But by no means Loreen deserves to receive comments like "you didnt deserve to win" or "your song was copied from another song" or whatever.
To Loreen and all her fans I just want to say that she deserves all the love and respect and hopefully we shall see more music from her soon and maybe even see her and Käärijä perform together which would be fun way to leave all this negativity behind.
No puede seguir así Eurovisión. Cha cha cha es una canción ganadora más que la de Loreen. Gracias al público que demostró LA VERDAD.
