Great match! I do like that sort of clutch play that most other RTSs don't have. Just because you're far ahead doesn't mean you can neglect a balance defence in the rear.

That was an amazing ending!!
Plenty of his old matches have similar "last moment" rush of similar tactics (strat+ahwassa combo). Check out his older videos with 4-5 ahwassa rush, strat+start missile rush and so on. You have to browse through his massive replays though. Go back few years back...

He was just spamming basic land units, which indicated to me that he couldn't really deal with everything at once. Even if he's 1800 clearly this was not his strong side, so I expected this ending from the moment he was alone on his side.

Around 19:00 I think GIB80 meant to do an attack move, and just did a move, instead, and totally forgot they existed while working on macroing and getting tac missile on the Com or something. Regardless, totally wasting the units...

There was a reason one guy sacced his ASF control to kill the first X bomber. Those things are gods at sniping, specially when they have help of SB. That bad air engage is what cost him the game.

How do you have 40 air factories and 3x mass gain of your opponent lose the air fight
Because you are just sending them in with no scouting or micro. This is the main difference between higher and lower level players. Lower levels relies on simple spam + attack move while higher levels scouts to know everything and build what is needed and attack when they have an advantage.
Your self-effacement makes me feel like a spring chicken at 27! But I know one day soon I too will be casting some no-name game pushing 50.

I think left to right has priority over top to bottom. Ie left team is team 1 even if they are more towards the bottom. I have had that instinct as well in some older casts and got mixed up when you labelled them differently.
Those Januses probably weren't set to "fire at will" and got a regular move command...lately, my ASFs also leave the factory completely harmless by standard and attack settings need to be changed.
Return Fire, Ground Fire, Hold Fire.

Heads up, global ratings are pretty overinflated atm. Blue is about a 1.5-1.7k at most not a 2k. (source I know him)
edit: Ladder matches are a less skewed way of telling someone's rating.
It just depends what skill level games you play in. But yeah blue is for sure not 2k
@@andrewmay4740 ye, as a rule of thumb I add 50% to people's ladder score and that will safely give you an idea of how well they should play, but thats also a bit of work and most people don't play ladder anyway.

@@andrewmay4740 if you play with a competent team that could be possible, the higher your rating is in ladder the less efficient that increase becomes. (I've noticed the difference in skill isn't linear its kinda exponential between the different "tiers" of players)

I think the Janis were on patrol, and it's more of a game problem that t2 fighter-bombers on patrol only care about their fighter part, and don't bomb anything.

I felt like i was waiting for that bomber snipe at the end for like 10-15 mins lol like when is Blue gonna do this? Why is he not making strats? but I guess his mass/energy was limited and he didn't have confidence in his air strength.
FYI end mass production was like 1.6k to >100 lol
"Alpha strike" doesn't mean "a big gun".
Air to ground units are notoriously glitchy.
I remember in Total Annihilation (my old jam) a bomber strike was a classic hail Mary if you were on the ropes. You could almost see it coming when he clinched air superiority for a few crucial minutes.
I wish I had time to play this game. I just can't justify something so unproductive. I wonder if I could get paid enough to youtube or twitch it or something...

Say what you want about Average Joe's but there was some silly mistakes in this game for sure, still entertaining and well played towards the mid-end though
I used to think 40 was old, for a long time that's older than my Dad was... Then I fell asleep, blinked, 2023 came, and I'll be 40 before summer. What's even more freaky is I have classmate who's a grandma, and a neighbour my age who has grand kids come visit. I must sound like a right boring old fart, and I know I do coz I remember old people talking endlessly about getting old, and here we are.
I wish the devs would come back to this game and give it a tons of manufacturing units added with more defencive building options to help out base defence. This game has been going strong for many years but seeing call of duty getting a refresh and relaunch before this is kinda a smack in gamers faces.
Well they tried to make a sequel that was not so well recieved don't think the company exists anymore either.
Look into Sanctuary: Shattered Sun, probably the next step in grand RTS games.

I looked up online everywhere to find info on setting up a custom with my friend. I understand that you need a player to host a match, send IP address, and send port code. We tried it and it wouldn’t work. Could you please help me with tips? I looked for a video everywhere and can’t find a tutorial to help me. Why do these guys go first 2 pgens after fact if they're going land first? You start with 4k e and you can get 2 mex easy before the pgens with no worries.
its the most efficient build for no hydro strart
general open - fac -> 2pgen -> 2mex -> 1pgen -> 2 mex
for 2nd land -> 2pgen -> fac
2nd air -> 5pgen -> fac
...expand with engies and micro early raid whilst com does this building, after com has finished 2nd fac begin to designate more engies to assist him with more pgens and 3rd fac, then walk com to front after 3rd is finished
This is a fine example of why fullshare sucks so much. MakSunn got such an enormous boon because of his teammate's bad play. I hate games that reward bad play

Been putting a load of hours into a map i've been making for the last few months, very detailed(over 1000 decals and lots of texture effects) 10x10 called Scarred Paradise, would love feedback from the community. its in the vault now

eek, blue is a prime example as to why so many players stay away from the community, its unbelievably toxic and unwelcoming
18:00 that is a real problem in this game. The units are dumb as a bag of hammers, this game requires way way too much micro, and I'm positive that's why rts is such an unpopular genre. The only RTS I ever played with a half decent unit AI system was totally buried. Warlords Battlecry 3. It was actively difficult to get units to stand like a moron or fail to take best practice opportunity. Each unit and factory had a whole menu of behavior sets to choose from. Including my favorite: Seek and destroy. Planetary annihilation had a great partial solution to this, any orders could be given to a factory and built units would attempt to execute them. It's a real shame that the faf community has decided actively to not really evolve this game. Get off my lawn.
