I´ve got an ABM Evo III 500 (and ABM 210 cab) a it´s really nice amp, but in this video doesn´t sound as good as if you hear it in person (although Guy is great bass player). That´s why I don´t judge bass gear by the YT vids. There are only a few recorded well that I´ve seen. Anyway, I don´t regret getting Ashdown, it sounds good, looks even better. And it´s not too expensive. I always prefer playing my Ash at the gigs, even I´ve had oportunities to play alltube Oranges, Hiwatts, etc.
I don't see why everyone hates him. I think he's quite funny, comes off as a really nice guy, and (obviously) he's a fantastic bassist! Guy Pratt > Roger Waters
Bought this amp, and just thought I'd inform you all that the great tone you hear is from a severe mid-scoop which leaves you lost in the mix and compensating with tons of mid-range to be heard, thus killing the beautiful tone. DI was really noisy and it was really heavy for the amount of power it produced. When I emailed Ashdown about it they didn't seem to care too much, so I returned it.
Trust me, I'm not an idiot. I have used many amps before, most of them costing 1/3 as much as this one did and I never had a problem with any of them. I was really shocked at the low overall quality of this amp, and I really wanted to like it.
I've moved from GK 700RB II (great workhorse amp) to and older Ashdown ABM 900 EVO II (England made) and I had no problems so far. I much prefer the vintage warmer tone of Ashdown to GK's aggressive bright dry tone. As far as the build quality, I have to say GK did have a bit more robust construction (mostly in terms of pots which were less loose). Maybe the older MIE amps were better built.
There seems to be a weird distortion coming from the low end from @2:18-2:30 when he is apparently playing the head flat. It sounds like something is clipping slightly and being compressed, just curious if the tube drive was in at the time, or what up with that?

Sounds like me...I still have my MG800 but purchased a ABM 900 amp and its kills!!
