Do you have a loom kit potholder in your kitchen drawer?
I made a stack of these and gave them for showers, Christmas presents. Everyone loved them. Thanks for this idea.
Thanks they will make wonderful gifts 😊
I do have 2 of the loom kit potholders that my 7 year old granddaughter made and gave me last year. She was so proud of those, and I love them. And because they were a gift from her-they are something I really don’t want to use. Now, these are absolutely my thing. You did an awesome job -love everything about these! Gonna make some. Great directions!!!
Gosh! I subscribed mostly for your fantastic personality. Plus, the potholder - of course. You're right, people love, love, love simple, handmade stuff as gifts. Good for you to find treasure under your feet and turning $0.25 jeans into such a wonderful idea. I upcycle sew and find so many wonderful things to re-create.
Thanks Anna!
I made some of those loom potholders when I was a child. My parents still have them! Great memories. Your potholders are awesome!
Omg i love those ty 4 sharing
So cute and useful! Looks easy to make!
LOVE THESE!!! you can't get GOOD pot holders that won't let the heat through!!! and the decorations are GREAT!!!
Thanks Susie! :)
Love theses Make for Christmas presents every year. Thank you. 😅
Lovely!!!
This was awesome
So cute!! I just love your videos!! They are so informative!!
Thanks, Helen! Potholders for EVERYONE! haha!
😍😍Those stencils! I’m thinking I need a sewing machine for Valentines Day...
Think of all the cute puppy clothes you could make! The sewing machine I'm using here was about $80 at Walmart. It's a beast!
So stinking cute!!!
Thanks Jackie! :) They're so fun to make.
I'm still using a potholder my mom made back in the 60's from old towel scraps between fabric from thick dress material! Your instructions are so clear
& easy!
What a wonderful memory! It's strange how sentimental potholders can be. My kids made some when they were little and I will never get rid of them. :)
This is the cutest video I’ve ever seen!
Awwe.
Very pretty. 🙏👍 TFS
Thanks Alice!
Your video was DIFFERENT BUT IN A GOOD WAY.
Heppi Nio Yuar!
I remember those loom potholders. Made a few myself, but I really think your denim potholders are the bees knees! So cute. I just purchased a Dollar Tree chicken stencil that would be perfect for one!
That's awesome! I love a good stencil deal.
@@bethanyatbarnstar I just made a SPOT (acronym) out of holey blue jean legs that my son gave me and uploaded the video. I ought to make some potholders like yours with the rest of the material and my chicken stencil. 😃
Absolutely love these. You were lucky to get jeans for 25cents.
no longer i am afraid. I love these and off to buy the paint and hit the goodwill store. Thanks for great idea
When i make potholders, I put the silver heat resistant batting in so that they impede the heat. These are good for extemely hot sheet pans etc. i wonder about the fleece being strong enough for big heat
@@bethanyatbarnstar potholders must be made of 100% cotton
Exactly what materials can i used in between those fabrics to resistance heat?
Everything in a potholder should be cotton…fabric, thread, batting. Fleece is polyester and can ignite if exposed to heat or flames.
Love your video ❤️ how do I buy the stencils?
Thanks Enola! You can get the stencils here: www.amazon.com/dp/B084MNH735?ref=myi_title_dp
Wouldn’t the fleece blanket “batting” melt? Or the denim impedes the heat getting through? Hmmmm
In 2 decades I’ve never had them melt.
I dropped one in the oven once…it burned a big hole right through the entire potholder but it didn’t start on fire. Lol
Use whatever batting you’d feel safe with. This is just how I do it. 😊
That’s excellent that the fleece doesn’t melt. 🙏🥰💗
Did you know that clothes come in and you cannot put them for sale so they have to throw away. Ask for those so that people who need clothes can get them too. Thanks for posting and great video and yes I have the loom from when I was a kid and I am also almost 60 a d I have taught granddaughter to do them. They last forever. Does the paint stand up to the heat and Washing lol
You're right Kathyjo. :)
Those loom kits are so fun even if the potholders are mostly decorative. Yes, the paint does last through washes. I now recommend just purchasing fabric paint tho. It doesn't cost much more than regular paint. :)
How do you clean the stencils? Thank you
Put some dish soap and cold water in a cookie sheet and let them soak for a few hours. Rinse and most of the paint should slide right off. Dry flat. :)
Does the paint stay thru wash n dry?
Yes, the paint does stay. I've started using fabric paint which is a better choice for longevity tho. :)
You hate cooking???
That's a bold statement!
Haha! It’s true tho! Maybe I should say I truly hate cleaning AFTER the cooking. I’d rather craft. 🤣
@@bethanyatbarnstar I am very fond of cooking and I hate the cleaning after cooking too!
@@shilpagopinath6513 I am a fan of eating! 🤣
What kind of paint to use please? The video is so fast
I mixed Apple Barrel White Acrylic with Delta Ceramcoat Textile Medium. The textile medium helps the paint stay soft and not crack on fabric.
Do you still sell stencils?
I do! :) You can find me on Etsy at www.etsy.com/shop/barnstarstencils
Since I watch when kids are sleeping how about writing out the directions or cc.
I'm the same way...I often watch youtube at night with only the subtitles on.
Maybe I should write out the directions. :)
Tried this and bought her stencils not very good directions and this is harder to do than it looks
Hey Pam! :) Thanks for purchasing the stencils! I'd like to help. What problems are you having?
@@bethanyatbarnstar No directions on what kind of paint to buy or how to stencil....this video is good but so fast, it was really hard for me to stencil with no directions because I have never stenciled before
@@pamhussey7688 I'm so proud of you for jumping right in and trying! The video is fast so I apologize.
Here's a tips and tricks video that might help a little with stenciling techniques: czcams.com/video/wM2YxaAI3aY/video.html
If you're painting fabric I now suggest using fabric paint like this: www.amazon.com/Tulip-Soft-Fabric-Paint-Kits/dp/B00DV930EA/ref=sr_1_13?crid=30R4L4C6OZUK&keywords=fabric+paint+kit&qid=1648163652&sprefix=fabric+paint+kit%2Caps%2C125&sr=8-13
Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
" 20 years ago....We were poor!"
Girl, behave yourself! You were filthy rich and didn't even know it. 🤣
Count you blessings if you never ended up insane or homeless or with 1 meal.
You're right. When I've been surrounded by people that love me I couldn't be poor. Many times we didn't even have $1 extra...but I always had more than I needed.
@bethanyatbarnstar You're most welcome. ❤️
I'm experiencing the same thing at the moment, but I know that tough times are only for a season.
But I'm still feel so blessed.
OMG I've been looking and I find ypur video, I love it!! Ill try to make it.
I'm sure your potholders will turn out beautifully. :)
