  • On today's episode of Setting The Pace, Alex Golden and Mike Facci discuss the pros and cons to signing James Wiseman to be the teams third string center. Wiseman, has spent the last two years in Detroit, and was drafted by the Warriors 2nd overall back in 2020, the same draft class as Tyrese Haliburton, Aaron Nesmith, Obi Toppin and Jalen Smith, who is now with the Bulls. The guys layout what this new environment might mean for him and what he will have to do to grow as a player.
    Then, Bob Kravitz joins the show to discuss Indiana re-signing Siakam and Toppin, giving Wiseman a chance to develop and not making any splashy moves like the rest of the East. He then shares his thoughts on what the Pacers record could be next season and how the other moves that were made impacts Indiana. Lastly. Bob discusses what type of players might make sense to move, with Indiana being just months away from more than likely having to make a consolidation trade to free up playing time and cap room.

    I'm pumped about this one boys. If coach rick can amalgamate JW into the squad...there is an epic amount of potential in Wiseman. Still so young. Could be SIIIICK with Hali and P. Keep it up y'all. Best Pacers content there is.

    Jarace will get some chances. If he can step up, look for Obi trade at the deadline. A pick and expirings would help pay for our looming extensions in the summer.

    He is a great rebounder and a great defender. He is going to love playing with Haliburton. We now have 4 lottery picks from the 2020 draft. The Pacers are a BETTER TEAM now!!!!!

    Such huge potential in Wiseman. I like Jackson but I think Wiseman is better all around player. We shall see how the 2nd string Center battle turns out.

    Hate the idea of losing Nembhard. I'd rather move on from TJ. I know TJ is a baller, but he's at the end of the career and could be sent somewhere that needs that immediate boost. Pacers still supposedly in the middle of a rebuild. Need to prioritize youth. Then stagger Nembhard and Haliburton.

    • @jdek88
      @jdek88 Před 23 dny +1

      Agreed. Need to sell TJ on the high. His value has never been higher. Sadly, we should sell on the high sometime throughout the year IMO. If Nembhard, Tyrese, Ben, and Mathurin can't hold down the guard spot without TJ, we're in trouble regardless

    • @nathandrabing5942
      @nathandrabing5942 Před 21 dnem

      I disagree. TJ might be the oldest but, still the highest energy guy on the team. He really is the glue and when he checks back in the crowd and the team's energy erupts. We will not get another player that can do anything close to what TJ does. He needs to retire a Pacer if we plan on making a run anytime soon.

  • @robertandrews1494

    He gets to play in a system where he can use his athleticism and is not so structured. If he runs the floor the Pacers guards will get him the ball. He'll be posting up guards and catching lobs.

    i think this signing is almost like Jermaine O'neal signing. A guys that's been frustrated in his 1st couple of years and ready to blossom. This guy at the top of his game is a top 10 center in the league easy. He will be the Pacers starting Center for years to come. i think Alex is not giving Wiseman the credit he deserves. Your talking about the guy like he's a role player. Wiseman is a dominant big that has never been in the right system until now.

      This man has been in the league since 2020. He’s had injury problems and has not played well in both places he was at. Sure, Indiana might help revive his career, but your stance is incredibly high for a 3rd string center. As a Pacers fan, I hope you’re right with your prediction on wiseman, but I think it’s more unrealistic to say he’ll be a Top 10 center in the league than to say he’s just an end of roster guy. -Alex

    as a warrior fan i would take him back at the min. he needs time. warriors let him go cus it would cost 12 mil. he can't screen, can't pass, and gets lost on defense. he does have a an off game but he always been a minus in the court. he is just really young that got over drafted .

    • @nathandrabing5942
      @nathandrabing5942 Před 21 dnem

      No, Nembhard has shown to be a great mix besides Hali because he can handle the defense. I don't see them letting Nembhard go anywhere. Nesmith is someone that might lose his spot just because they need more height.

    Losing Obi would be another mistake by the Pacers imo. Giving up every player that helps us play the way we need. All they needed to do was give Obi and Walker a real chance. Had we waited to have made a play on OG. You then have not only another switchable SF than can guard most guards. You get one that can stretch and play the PF too without permanently taking away from Obi and Walker.. It would have allowed Walker to transition and develop in his PF role. While also making it easier to try him more at SF and giving him someone to help develop his D even more. Spreading out the cap to give them back control.. To have been able to make the small important trades we needed with our picks. The chance at signing Hartenstein. Getting the best young draft prospects. Allowing us an easy transition moving away from Turner if we had to do so. Better chance and even more of a reason to make the swing on Caruso. Our transition play becomes a nightmare. On both Offense and Defense. Because all those dudes are solid Defenders and make the most sense.. You have switchable guy's at almost every position.. you also add Shannon Jr. who can score and was making a lot of noise defensively and adds more 🔥 to the transition game... Pacers blew what could have been the most exciting team in basketball history.

      This team is prioritizing offense and looking for guys that don't get hurt. Obi hhasn't been shown to get hurt and is super cheap compared to OG. If we got OG we would lose too much and he might not even play much from injuries...

    OKC out there making all the moves I wanted the Pacers to make. They're going to be an absolute nightmare this year. Had the Pacers waited until the off-season. They could have done the same. Walker would have had his natural role.. It's as if you not only lost getting the SF of need.. But the C of need.. lost 2 solid picks. One that could have been Terrance Shannon Jr. and Yevs Missi. Now wasted your 7th over PF pick. Or could also result in them losing Obi. I would have traded Nembhard for Caruso straight up, but tried squeezing a pick too. They won't be able to pay him what they were talkin.
