GSW getting Markkanen depends greatly on whether we want to give him a max extension. We'll see if the Jazz want Wiggins, Moody and Podz, AND whether GSW wants to part ways with Moody and Podz. If we can't get the trade done, I think Kuminga and Moody will be better than last season and impact games even more. Podz and TJD are gonna be solid again. Good luck to Klay, he's gonna be great on the next part of his journey.
I would only part ways with TJD and Wiggins contracts plus those two 1st rounders we got.
Legs, it’s not that the Mavs didn’t take the start of the regular season, it’s that most their entire team expect for Luka was out. Kyrie, Lively (before they even had a backup), Kleber, Josh Green, Exum missed like 25-35 games each. Luka had to carry for 2 months averaging 37/10/11. I don’t know why folks forget to mention this. Meanwhile OKC barely suffered any injuries. That was a big reason why the seeding was what it was.
Yea it’s very annoying people don’t acknowledge that. It’s a huge reason I believe Luka was the true MVP last year. Carrying the team through those injuries is much more impressive than anything Jokic did.

The only reason Dallas wasn't top 3 last regular season was bc of all the injuries, particularly the month plus without Kyrie. It wasn't about not taking it seriously.
The Luka criticism has also gone too far beyond the mark from everyone.

A contract year Jimmy might be a superstar in the regular season. They finally might avoid the play-in once Jimmy cared in the regular season.

Herro might be back as a 6th man with his natural role (or be traded for depth). Burks of the bench for some easy buckets.

The west is so stacked. I think the top 4 are locked OKC DAL DEN MIN idk what order. I got MEM as 5th. 6th I’d go suns and after that it’s a crapshoot

The Mavs are built for regular season wins: rim protection and high power offense. 2nd behind OKC is a safe bet with Luka MVP. OKC vs Mavs is going to fun to watch.

KDs teams have underachieved? He carried the nets a toe length away from the finals, carried young Thunder to the chip agains prime bron superteam while Westbrook put together the worst finals star performance of maybe all time, SHOULDVE won 3 chips if not for injury in GS. Suns first year was awful all around but not at the fault of his own (ironmanned it) while the roster construction was horrendous.

Yes they under achieved! His team just went out in the first round, getting swept by a young Timberwolves team. The Nets never made it past the conference finals, and only had 1 decent playoff run. Teams with KD should expect to make finals if not win the whole thing . That is the definition of under achievement

The ONLY reason that the Mavs may not have the best record in the West is because they have a lot of new wings (Klay, Grimes, Marshall) AND have existing players that need playing time to show what they can do (Hardy, O-Max, Exum). Kidd is going to want to try out different rotations to see what is going to fit best for the playoffs. The starting five (Luka, Irving, Lively, Klay, PJ) are going to average 100-105 pts a game. You have 7 potential guys off the bench every night that need to give you another 20 pts or so. Scary!
Nah! I’m a MFFL but I agree with Legs and Adam, OKC has a younger, more complete team overall. They’ll probably win more regular season games but I’m still taking Mavs over them in the playoff
And Luka has to do something with the conditioning, right? As much ball as he plays in the off-season, and with as young as he started carrying heavy loads on professional teams, he's going to break unless he works on his body.

Okc will finish behind Dallas this year. Dallas will win 60+ games. Remember Dallas is young other than Kyrie and Klay. If healthy Dallas will be number 1 seed.

Would we see a rematch in the Celtics & Mavericks for #NBA Finals again?! Celtics bringing back the core of their roster not sure if they are looking for a big name FA unlike the Nuggets! Mavericks got a pretty good offensive player but not sure he is half the defensive player he was in prime while OKC looking to steal the West's Thunder pun intended! Sixers fans are already claiming they have the best Trio in the league to beat the Celtics! However, they said that when they had Jimmy & Ben, then Harden now PG & Oubre added to Embiid and Maxey! The pressure is on the Sixers can they finally be the best in the East with Celtics waiting on KP to recover to win it all?!

@@DileminaDenver role players are similar to heat role players. They produce more cause they play in a system with Jokic. New role players do better than expected. Old players play worse when the leave and the teams that get them end up over paying

I think my Raptors going to surprise a lot of people. I can see them being 7 /8 seed. Scottie Barnes, RJ, IQ, Yak, Gradey only played 10 gms together. I like the trade for Davion & Sasha Veskov. Olynk & Bruce Brown with those guys off the bench along with a couple of rookies they drafted is decent team. Scottie especially will shut up a lot of haters.
What if CLE traded J Allen to NOR for Ingram and picks and sent them all to UTA for Markonnen?
It would ease some of the spacing and scoring pressure on Mobley without reducing any of their height

You can't judge the Giannis and dame experiment they didn't even get a chance to play together in the playoffs when lebron and wade played together the first year they didn't gel right away they were still trying to figure out who's batman and who's Rodman kyrie and luka didn't gel together right away either it takes time especially when you have two dominant super stars who demand the ball but once they figure it out it could be poetry hopefully giannis and the bucks make people like legler and other analysts look like fools by the end of the season

The Toronto Raptors are my dark horse for the Eastern Conference. Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley are going to be a great trio that fit amazingly well. I expect the remaining pieces to fall into place and, barring health, should be able to keep pace with the playoff competition in the East.

Luka is going to burn himself out if he doesn't learn how/when to rest in the offseason. I really hope he listens to the crybaby criticism, because it's bad for him and his team. My question for Dallas next year will be how they defend with Luka, Kyrie, and Klay on the floor.
Kidd has a system in place -- funnel that player to the big man.
The one who goes to the bench first is match-up dependent. If it's against waterbugs (Ja, Ant, Fox), Kyrie sits down first, Grimes goes in.
Against bigger teams with bigger wings (Giannis, Durant, LeBron, Shai, Tatum), Klay sits down first, Naji Marshall goes in.
That's about it. As long as Luka/Kyrie/Klay can put an effort in the defensive-end, they can make it through. Now, not every team has Boston's line-up. The question is, how will they stop Luka/Kyrie/Klay on the other end in the first 10 minutes of the game.
It's not like they'll play 12 whole minutes per quarter.

Best analysis I've seen. I agree with most, but HARD disagree on DAL. Everyone is now on the DAL wagon because their recent run, and because they added an aged HOFer. DAL might be like ATL where they made that run to the east finals, and went back to a play in team. I see Klay as a lateral move - flipping offense for defense, but being about the same team overall. They still are a team of 3 OR D guys, not 3 AND D (offense or defense). They were a 5 seed in the west where several teams underachieved, but got better, so I don't see DAL as a top 4 seed in the west. And, I don't think they have a chance to repeat their trip to the finals. Nice year, but they need more moves to actually be that good.
They made the WCF two years ago, and the Finals last years, and only upgraded their roster, this is a bad take.

Mavs flipped THJ into Klay. THJ averaged 4pts in the playoffs. Naji is bigger and may be better defender, shooter, ball handler and passer than DJJ. And Grimes can be equal to or better than Josh Green. Mavs didn’t lose anything!
