- Get ready to travel back to 1987 and relive the beginnings of Full House. Host Dave Coulier is joined this week by a man who needs no introduction. He’s a dear friend and the creator of our favorite TV show, Jeff Franklin!
Dave and Jeff take a deep dive into the early days of the show and talk about Jeff’s original concept for Full House, the audition and casting process, and what it was like unexpectedly reshooting the pilot episode with a brand new Danny Tanner. They also give a look into how the cast was (and still is) truly like a family.
Who was the original Danny Tanner? Why did John Stamos almost quit the show? How many babies originally auditioned for Michelle? Join us to find out!

What’s your favorite Danny Tanner moment? ❤
When it came to keeping things clean and tidy :D
When he welcomes the guys in to help with the girls. It was beautiful!✌️
I'll always love that scene where he sings "My Girl" to DJ...
Every time I hear that song, I always hear Bob singing it instead of the original singer😉
@@domiputsame
When he speaks up for Stephanie after her date stands her up.
Also, watching his relationship with Vicki was so sweet.
As someone who had a broken family growing up this show made me believe good families existed! Thank you for bringing this to life! Fridays just got better! ❤️
That means so much to all of us who got to be a part of Full House. We're keeping the magic of Full House alive every Friday! 🫶

Yes this! Shows like this made me feel like I had a family. I came from a broken family as well.
Same! this show and my parents taught me exactly how i want to be as a parent

I still can’t beIieve Bob is gone out of nowhere a year and a half later.
The most saddest episode for me was when Jesse’s uncle passed Poppli I think his name was spelled. Michelle’s reaction had me crying at like the age of 8. That episode still makes me sad 😢
Papouli was Jesse's grandfather.
Oh thanks! 😅
That hits so much harder when your grandparents actually go, whether it was before or after watching it. Either it retroactively hits you like a truck or it crushes your heart in the moment.
oh my gosh yes
Rest In Peace Bob Saget aka Danny Tanner💜
This is gonna be magical 💜🪄

Bob Saget’s death made me cry literal tears. Full House is everything go me. I was genuinely saddened.
We are SO here for this 🥳
🎉🎉
i'm having my costanza worlds colliding moment
Love and miss you Bob Saget
I just want to thank Jeff Franklin on behalf of all the OG Full house fans and now the new ones. I grew up watching it with my mom and now me and my daughter watch it. It’s such a full Circle moment. ❤🏠
Honestly hearing your Bullwinkle and Scooby-Doo impressions made me tear up. I didn't know I'd be lucky enough to hear that again ❤ Heart warming.
Love you, Dave ❤
❤
I can’t wait to see the rest of this R.I.P. Bob Saget.
Bullwinkle calling was EVERYTHING!! How creative!
Born in 89' never had a father. He passed away from drugs. Danny Tanner was the best thing in my life as a father figure. Other than my Grandpas. Learned alot to try to help people or just simply be there for them.
Sorry for your loss
We're pumped this is finally here 🙌
Woo hoo!
The last part got to me.💔 I started watching Full House when I did not know any English. I’d like to give Full House credit for teaching me. Danny Tanner is and will always be my favorite TV dad.♥️
He'll always be our favorite TV dad too ❤
Not me being more emotional during the Ode to Bob segment than during the scene read with Jeff. Bob was incredible and absolutely left this world far too soon. RIP Bob. ❤️
I grew up watching and now my daughter watches it
❤
Same here!!😮😮👋🏻 SOO COOL !!🎉🎉
First Ned's Pod, and now this?
When it comes to podcasts for 2023 PodCo takes the cake, no question :)
🎉
Not gonna lie I’m at 25:22 into the podcast and I am tearing up I’m emotional full house was more dangerous a sitcom to me. Full house gave me my best friend over 30 years. Is someone who was diagnosed with a developmental disability and other challenges full house, give me a sense of normalcy. To Jeff Franklin thank you so much for creating a show that was safe for people to escape to. Thank you for creating a show that had real life situation and real life solutions.
This is absolutely a dream come true podcast! Like many, Full House has meant so much to me. Growing up in an unconventional home (not bad, just missing some core family interactions) .. this show and cast has taught me so much. Peace to Bob, love to the others! Thank you guys for making this podcast. =)
Did you see that Jodi Sweetin and Andrea Barber are doing a rewatch podcast?
I love Full house so much, its has been my comfort show for so Long, but i cant watch anymore, i love you guys
Can't wait for you to see all that's in store.
When I was a kid, my Mom was really sick (and eventually passed away) and this show was SO healing of an escape and very cathartic for emotions I was too little too put words to. It's the reason I love sitcoms. ❤
Wish Bob coukd have seen this show happen , but at least he was around for Fuller House, magic striking twice !
I am so excited for this! I was born in 89, and basically came out of the womb saying ‘ You got it, dude!’ This was my show, from day 1 🩷 And I have enjoyed sharing it, and Fuller House with my niece. 🤗🤗 miss you, Bob
Omg Dave has not aged at all, brings back memories 😊
We missed Bob so much 😥😥🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🥰🥰🥰🫂🫂🫂🫂
My 2 favorite episodes were the Disney World ones. My family and I were on vacation that week, and Bob Saget was in Germany filming the scene with Gail Edwards. Then out of no where, you hear one of the crew yelling, "Where's Bob, Where's Bob?" Then, from the other side of the set you hear, "I gotta go to Spain, I'll be right back!" 😂
Bob Saget was great in Full House.
He will be missed.
Nuff said.
Bob was a father figure for Millions ❤.
I’m 11 years old and I love watching full house
This is awesome! I still wish Bob were here. I got to meet him back in 2015 and he was hilarious and took the time to speak with me. Still can’t believe he’s gone and I’m not seeing his standup ads on Instagram with his rap song in the background on a daily basis. May he rest in peace.
Awesome that you met Bob in 2015. What was he like?
Lucky you, Bob seem like a real cool dude.
Ohmygosh!! I took a class through Mark Ridley's that started my stand-up career!! I was SHOCKED to hear his name during the pod! So cool!!!
Jesse's original name was Adam; the name was changed at John Stamos' request, upon learning about his character's obsession with Elvis and mentioning that Elvis had a stillborn twin brother named Jesse
The diaper changing scene is the best!
I hear that MK+A got the role because they were the only twins who didn't cry at the audition
RIP Bob Saget 🕯️
Yes, whenever I tell people that the character’s name was originally Adam… they start arguing with me saying that his real name was Hermes in reference to that episode where they’re trying to figure our names for the twins. It’s annoying because that’s a completely different premise… his real name being Hermes was just a fictional thing for the show. I’m talking about in real life, Jeff Franklin originally named the character “Adam.” But John Stamos convinced him to change it to Jesse
We all miss you Bob, you made Danny one of the greatest tv dads ever
I only cried twice lol. Upon the reading of the scene and the tribute to Bob. I can’t wait to watch again. Thank you Dave for doing this amazing podcast!
I think my favorite Danny Tanner moment well, of course is the fact that he’s a hugger and that he never ended the day on a bad note. I love how clean he was because I’m the complete opposite. I think my favorite Danny Tanner moment what is the two-part series finale when Michelle entered the horse competition and her in the girl she was competing against road off on their own, and Michelle fell off a horse, not only suffered a severe concussion, but suffered severe amnesia, and I just love how Danny was very attentive and calm and just present with Michelle.
I was born in 86 so i was watching a few years later 😊
I grew up watching Full house. For some reason I didn’t realize how funny Stephanie was until I rewatched the entire series as an adult.
This podcast in a lot of ways has all the charm that 80s/90s kids entertainment had that is truly missing from the world today. The door bell and the visitors, the sound effects, the gags, heck...even the different little segments. You put together something that the original fans of full house (myself included) can really feel connected to and it feels like being home again. Seeing you do Mr. Woodchuck again, and the Comet puppet...could bring a tear to your eye. There is just something magical about this that kids today are missing. Thank you for bringing such a wholesome and fun podcast into a world that seems to have forgotten that those two words can go together. Can't wait to see the rest of the cast join for interviews, and as always RIP Bob Saget - you are truly missed.
I was born in 2000, but because of my siblings who grew up in the 90s Full House became a big part of my childhood! So I'm looking forward to this😂❤
I met my husband through his sister who is my best friend of 20 ish years. My husband and I got married 6 years ago and have a 5 year old son. My best friend now lives with us and helps us raise our son. I call her his second mom. AND my son has started watching Full House with me and it feels so full circle because I watched it as a kid. And I always joke that we are living our own version of Full House. Mom, Dad, NicNic and all our animals.
Dave has a great voice for a podcast!!
Agree
II live in Brazil and its because of Full House that my dream is go to San Francisco since I was a little kid. I’m 33 and still don’t get it, one day certainly I will. Its the dream of my life.
Thank u so much Dave for bringing this to us. My heart is completely full ❤ I can thank u enough
Bob Saget 😇❤
Danny Tanner was the patriarch of the 90s. There are way too many favorite moments of mine to count. However, the episode where Danny wears that leather outfit and earring was incredibly funny. Wonder how Bob Saget managed to wear the suit?
Bob Saget was legendary both as Danny Tanner and as a stand-up comedian. May he rest in peace.
A true legend ❤
Growing up I didn’t care for full house much but my sister did and watched it alot ..she past away a about 5 years ago and seeing stuff like this makes me think of the good time’s watching full house with her …thank you for this podcast
Thank you for everything Dave ♥️ I love that I get to share a name with your iconic character
Cant wait for more episodes. Maybe getting Tahj Mowry(Teddy) or Jurnee Diana Smollett-Bell (Denise) on the pod
Uh...Smollett?
I love this Full House is still one of the best shows ever made.
Such a great episode, Rest In Peace Bob Saget 🙏🏻
Full house was my first favorite show. So grateful for this ❤
How am I just now finding this??? Grew up on FH as many millions did…one of our fave childhood shows. My siblings and I lived for TGIF nights when new episodes would be released. Miss all the old good shows like FH, Family Matters, Step by Step etc.
Man I really feel old now. I lived my childhood with Full House. It was the best show. There were moments where I wanted to live in that house. I was very disappointed when I found out it wasn’t real.
I had the honor of seeing 3 tapings of Full House. The 100th episode was by far my favorite. I thought Bob was so funny when Becky was in labor.
For some reason i get emotional everytime i think of this show.by far my fav growing up
I’m only 24, but even when me and my sisters were kids, we watched through the whole series multiple times. It taught me so much about life and family, before I was even old enough to realize that it did!
Excitedly waiting for the next podcast! And R.I.P. Bob 😢
still an inspiration every day
Omg I needed this 😭💙 FH is such a lifelong comfort. Born in 98. Feels like a big Hug. Loved this and cant wait for more Dave 🥺❤️
my favorite Danny Tanner moment is cause he was a person that loved to keep the house clean
My entire childhood in a rewatch podcast…dream come true!
I am SO SO SO excited for this! I grew up watching Full House and even now as a 42 year old woman I still watch it!!! ❤
Don't mind me just crying about my Full House hug here at work...

Danny Tanner was always my favorite character even as a child I could tell there was something special about Bob ❤
You know I actually have the Full House series on DVD and now every time Friday comes around, I watch an episode or two every time. I just LOVE Full House and Btw I love you too Dave ❤💜❤💜
Just listened to this 1st episode. Made me tear up at the end. Bob Saget definitely is missed😪
I have the Full House complete series on DVD and I enjoyed every single episode. 8 seasons, 192 episodes, every moment spent filled with heartwarming tenderness, topped with good laughs
Aw.. One of many "Full House Fan" here in This House From Ontario, Canada😁
Luv ya all FULL HOUSE Cast and Crew 🤓✌💙
I liked All The Best Family Values, Lessons in Each and Every Episode
We Loved TGIF 😊😁 We All couldn't wait for Friday's to Roll around lol 😁😊😎
As odd as it is Dave Coulier being serious (✂️ it out) is kinda cool. Love you Dave and loved full house. My only request would be to continue fuller house.
Once this ends we need fuller rewind
Man I can’t believe it. Long live BIg Daddy Danny T!
Thank you Dave! This was amazing huge throw back to my childhood nanny tanny. The nanny from the original Muppet babies.
I was in San Francisco in Oct we made it a goal to drive by the full house house... my life is complete now .. love you Dave!!!
Alright then, itits time for new episodes please!!!!!
This was such a great idea. About a month ago, I just finished binge watching every Full House and every Fuller House and needed something else. Looking forward to Fullest House already. One idea I heard was you guys should do a “Pre” Full House with everyone and ending with Danny’s wife dying. Obviously all characters would have to be played by other actors but might be fun.
dude. i live in san francisco and i walk by that house all the time - i was wondering who bought it recently because the previous owners seemed quite antisocial and like they really hated tourists or anyone wanting to take a photo, etc. it's really cool to know about the back yard, and that someone who actually cares about the show owns the place now!
Thank you for this. My son left to go visit his mom tonight for a week and I was really down and missing him. This brought a smile to my face. I didn't think I would be able to do that tonight.
full house ended before my life began but we had the full DVD set of the entire series and I could not tell you how many times I watched that show growing up
So incredibly happy for this! Full House was a every night ritual for me growing up. RIP Bob Saget ❤
I don't think I've ever been so excited to see Mr. Woodchuck in YEARS. I'm going bananas over him like he's a Marvel post-credits scene!
Full House is still my absolute favorite show from being a child to now. It’s my go to show that I watch when I want to feel nostalgic or I’m having a rough day and I need something familiar. It’s my comfort show. Thank you.
Thank you for this podcast. I have been rewatching Full House every day for the past two weeks. My favorite Danny Tanner memory is whenever he was cleaning the house. 😊 And had a vacuum cleaner for his vacuum cleaner. 😂
"You have no life dave" got me dying for no reason
The full house will always have a place in my heart❤
I love you Dave ❤️💋🩷💘💜👼🏿👼🏻🌹🎵🌈🦋💙🫶🏻
WOW I totally forgot this was on CZcams because of the Writer's Strike break!
THANK YOU DAVE for creating a CLEAN and funny show! As someone who dislikes how frequently swearing and inappropriate comments are made during interviews, I really appreciated the PG-rated show! KEEP IT UP!!
(Also, I was born a month before the pilot aired so Full House literally has been around my entire life! Thank you for being a huge part of my childhood!)
I'm a big Scooby Doo fan Dave my favorite Danny Tanner moment is he is fun lovely tv dad and a hugger Mr clean man and of course Bob is too I miss him so much.
Bob Saget was a good man and Jeff made a corny but funny show lol. 😂❤
Amazing first episode! I'm a part of that second generation of kids who grew up loving Full House after being introduced to it by my mom. Now I'm 21 and get to experience new firsts of Full House with this podcast. I can't wait to see what else is in store. Now...time to rewatch all 8 seasons. ❤️
I also began rewatching full house series again
Allways had a crush on candace aka DJ when i watched full house as a kid, early teen. And jessy's version of "forever" is one of the best live songs of all time.
Dave is already a great host!
This is really amazing to know he fought for who we know today as Danny Tanner and had that gut instinct. Crazy how much it cost to reshoot it and that the other people agreed!!
I just love that Jeff said that one of his favourite episodes was the Hole in the Wall Gang. It’s mine too! It’s just the most perfect episode. Nothing outstanding but just classic, quintessential, family sitcom at its best.
I was so exited for this i screamd so hard my mom tought i fell of the stairs. Im super exited for all episode’s!
Jeff Franklin you are the best show creator ever.
Wow that scene they re-enacted had me in tears.
Full house will always be my favorite show. I owned every season on DVD and they all got scratched because I watched them so much. The show will always have a place in my heart ❤
This makes me so happy! 🥹
