Today is Eid ul Adha celebration for all Muslims. Many devout muslims are practising the sacrifice of animals while the pilgrims complete the rituals in Mecca. But you should be able to find many non Muslim eateries serving as usual.

13:04 is part of the reason why all Muslim shops and eateries are closed today, Monday 17/06/2024.
Muslims all over the world have two main holidays, the Eid-ul-fitr where we celebrate after one month fasting, and Eid-ul-adha where we sacrifice cows and goats to be distributed among the less fortunate...

Do not eat it places that do not have a lot of customers.... Here is a little no one trick do you find a great place to eat at a great price... You will find some restaurants have no customers... Except for a ton of grab drivers you'll see a ton of mopeds coming and going with bags of food they might have one or two tables if you're lucky... Those places are great the food is great too because it is bad they will be out of business very quickly because they are depending on grab drivers... And their rent is really cheap... But you kind of have to look to where you see a bunch of grab drivers sitting around waiting for their orders.. I was eating with a couple in Malaysia... Great prices great food... Wrong timing..some ppl or states celebrate eid adha more than eid fitri..esp if they do qurban or ceremonial slaughter of animals to be donated to ppl

You came into Malaysia at the *worst* time possible, during the "Eid Adha" Muslim "Feast of Sacrifice" day, the day when Muslim population are doing sacrificial by slaughtering cow, goat, etc. to give towards the needy and poor lol.
Nasi Kandar joints are usually operated by Muslim-Indian population, which explains why you wouldn't see any of them open in this specific day.

Today is Eid al-Adha. There are two Eid holidays celebrated by Muslims, namely 1. Idul Fitril, which is the day after fasting for a month in the month of Ramadan according to the Islamic calendar and second, Idul Adha, which is the day when Muslims in Mecca successfully perform the Hajj in Mecca. And on this day, Muslims perform sacrifices by slaughtering cows and goats to give alms to neighbors and the poor. Usually, all Malay restaurants and Muslim Mamak will have a day off, but restaurants of other races such as Chinese and Indian remain open. So many fast food restaurants such as Mc D, Kfc, Stabuk and others remain open.

Thanks! That probably explains the folks washing the cow outside, surely they were preparing it for slaughter 🤔

Correction, the hajj is still ongoing. The hajj is not complete yet. There is still a few more days to go. Now the pilgrims are in an place called Mina as a part of the Hajj ritual.
