    The steerable headlights are actually useful on trails at night, the B&O sound system is pretty darn good, and the auto dimming rear view mirrors are really good for older eyes at night, and on a very hot day in FL the cooled seats are awesome. SO I had to go with the 402A.

    401A package is an off-road optioned out XLT, the 402A is an off-road configured 502A Lariat. Living in the snowy northland, I'd select the 402A for the 4A 4-wheel drive option for driving on snow compacted roads in the winter. I actually selected a 502A Lariat FX4 in the PowerBoost configuration which puts it in the same price range as the 402A Tremor. My 5% off-road driving is not aggressive off-road so I didn't need a Tremor. The number of ways an F-150 can be configured is truly impressive.

    "Entry" vs. "Loaded" differences:
    Projector headlamps
    Painted side mirror caps
    LED tail lamps
    Perforated leather seats with Tremor logo & stitching
    Heated rear seats
    3-position memory driver seat
    B&O sound system
    Power steering wheel adjustment
    Full digital dash display
    Ventilated front seats
    4-wheel Auto drive mode
    Heated steering wheel
    Storage cover for forward center console area
    Folding center workbench
    Panoramic sunroof
    I'd probably go with the 402A because I'd miss those ventilated seats & sunroof in the summer and heated steering wheel & 4-Auto in the winter.

      In Canada, the Moonroof is $1750 & Interior Work Surface is $400. I think having the 4A is the most important feature in the 402A Package but it is a whopping $16, 176 Canadian. That's a hell of a lot of $$$ over the base truck!

    To be honest, the cheaper 401A is more worth it then just the expensive package. Engine and towing capacity are like super important to trucks and they both are really similar in Engines but the cheaper tremor has more towing capacity. The only thing that’s different from the 2 trucks are the interiors, like the seats are good and the 12 inch screen is good too. Just some small changes on the 402A package. But I think the cheaper 401A is a better value to get. I agree with you Ben!

    Taking delivery of my 402A and then some Velocity Blue in about 2 weeks. The added luxury was key for me. I am at the stage in my life both in mindset and financially that I like to treat myself to the nicer things. Coming from a 2018 4Runner TRD OR (which I absolutely LOVE and will miss) I am looking forward to all of the bells and whistles. Living in AZ those ventilated seats are going to get used a LOT from May to October. The heated front and rear seats will see a lot of use during our winter months after spending a day in the mountains in the snow or running creeks and rivers in my WW kayak and that may make me the designated post-run shuttle driver for my group. Having a wife who is 10" shorter than I am those memory seats are going to save me having knee replacement for all the times she forgets to move the seat back after she uses my vehicle. The plan for me is that this will be a 10-12 year vehicle and my dealer was willing to honor X Plan pricing so I was willing to drop the extra $$.

    How well does Torsen diff work on a Tremor?

    I think he was probably comparing 2021 models here, but my 2022 401A does have the work surface, and I know the B&O option was also available for $600 if you had to have it. 401A has the heated, but no ventilated seats. Honestly, that was the only option that I miss, but it certainly wasn't worth the price difference to me. I actually prefer the leather/cloth sport seats on the 401A... I'm not a fan of leather seating in the middle summer OR winter. The cloth centers look great and are way more comfortable in my opinion. I really couldn't justify the added cost for the higher package.

      I wouldn't want the 4wd auto feature, depending on what transfer case they use it could mean that it just uses clutch plates and that would mean even in 4 hi and 4 low it's never truly locked in. With that said for most people and most situations it ain't a big deal, but for my intended uses, I wouldn't want it

    • @martinpilat1
      @martinpilat1 Před 2 lety +3

      I could be wrong, but I don’t think you’re losing anything with the more sophisticated transfer case. All higher trim level 4wd f150s and Broncos have 4A including Raptor. It’s basically a pseudo-AWD setup that many ppl including me find very useful in inclement weather. Many don’t know this, but you can’t drive in 4 hi unless you’re off road. Right now it the weather is bad I just put truck in 4A and you get great traction for most daily needs, for example if it’s wet.

    Thumbs Down dude! You mentioned some of the costliest upgrades on the higher end one like they weren't a big deal then go and say the other one is a better value. If those features, like the sound system, way better seats, heated rear seats, etc. really are something people want, then the extra cost is very much justified. Me personally? If I'm going to drop close to $70k on a truck, I'm getting all the bells and whistles.
    The 402A also gives you many upgrades that aren't specifically listed when you click on the two different options. The upgrades with the High package include: Tow Technology Package, Ford Co-Pilot Assist 2.0, BoxLink, Power Sliding Rear Window, 360 degree cameras, Active Park Assist, Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Wireless Charging Pad, LED Projector with light bending headlamps, LED tail lamps, unique leather trimmed seats, and the 12" productivity screen. Many of the things on this list are extremely useful and were an easy justification for the increased cost.

    @SignalCorps1 Před 2 lety +1

    Folks don’t be misled. The 402A package is a better deal. The biggest thing missed in the review is that the 402A has the Raptor transfer case, whereas the 401A does not. This is why the 402A has an AWD and the 401A does not. This is a huge difference for ON-ROAD driving as the Raptor transfer case uses a Torque on Demand (TOD) system when in 4A and a Hi-Lock mechanics instead of a clutch when in 4H and 4L. The TOD 4A system is much much better in rain, mud, and snow on the pavement than the standard system in the 400A and 401A package. I don’t know how much this costs but I’ll bet the price difference is largely based on this. Ben love your reviews, but if you catch this comment, keep it mind going forward. It’s a big deal.

      The projector lights in the 402A are LED projectors, and they turn when the truck turns. I had that on a Lincoln suv but did not expect it on my tremor. I have the 402A and could not love it any more, it is perfect.

    some of these options arent distinctive of the higher trim, they are just addons that they chose to not put on the 401a, but anyone else could if they ordered one. example, the interior work surface

      True . However, have you seen the dynamic projector headlights from the 21 raptor at night? They are insanely bright and awesome. In fact, those lights won a reward for the 21 F150 from NHTSA.
      I switch my 22 f150 tremor order from 401a to 402a. A skipped in the sunroof though. Too easy for leaks, takes away from roof structure, and adds weight

    You did not mention some of the available tech that comes with the truck that makes it worth it. Does the 1A or 2A have adaptive cruise control? That is a $500-800 option that is ABSOLUTLY essential. Things like that add up. I once drove from Midland Texas to El Paso Texas and only touched my brakes 3 times because of the adaptive cruise control.
