Rosie has been for treatments with me for years and really enjoys her full body massages. Rosie is a stunningly beautiful lady who looks after her body with long country walks with her little jack russel puppy 🐶 Today Rosie is after an aromatherapy massage concentrating on the back, neck and shoulders but she particularly enjoys the neck release and scalp techniques at the end. We listened to the bell ringers practicing their wedding bells for an upcoming celebration while I gently explained what techniques I was employing and why.

Hi Victoria. A question. I recently had a very disappointing massage here in the Netherlands. It was very painful, and the massage therapist told me to lean into the pain (he was using his elbows and this hurt a lot). I left feeling even more sore. Is massage supposed to hurt like that to work better?

There are so many different approaches. I prefer a technique where the therapist ‘listens’ and adapts their treatment to the person on the couch. This needs to include the person’s expectations, what their body presents, medical history, how the person feels that day/that hour, the energy of the room ie between therapist and client. So many variables need to be taken into account. I’m so sorry you were sore. Find a new giver before you get put off completely.
