    Don't know how I lived without this for so long! I make dog food for 2 of our dogs czcams.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg (we have 5!) and it is so much quicker in this. Love having the inner pot stainless so I can use my immersion blender right in it without worrying about scratching. It makes potatoes great and fast! Still working on the vegetables, first time came out great, second time I did different ones and they were a little too mushy. Just need to adjust the time. I highly recommend this pot!!!

      Paula Deen suggests cooking the macaroni longer than other pasta because the extra water absorbed will keep it from soaking the moisture up out of the cheese when you bake it. Of course, when I fell asleep once and a cup macaroni absorbed a whole gallon of water, I don’t think that’s what she meant. But it was an interesting example that the macaroni will continue to absorb as much water as you want to give it for as long as you want to cook it.

      Yes. If you have raw green beans, the pressure cooker will cook them up in a jiffy. Then just pour the mushroom soup in over top of them. I would use the slow cooker function on high for a few minutes to get the whole thing nice and hot through the center. Then toss the French fried onions on top and brown it for five minutes with the Pressure Crisp for 5 minutes just like she did with her Mac and cheese here. Topping the Mac and cheese with French fried onions is also very good.

    I enjoyed your video and I will be making this tonight with a chicken recipe I found on CZcams. I see that some people were asking about scaling down or up your recipe. Since you used 1pound or 16 oz of pasta and 4 cups of water can I assume a basic ratio for cooking pasta in the Foodi would be every 4 oz of pasta to 1 cup of water?? What are your thoughts ???

    • @pressurecrisp
      @pressurecrisp  Před 5 lety +2

      I tried the one cup of water the pasta does not cook correctly. Some of the pasta was hard and very under done. Even when I’m making 4 oz of pasta I use 2 cups of water to make sure pasta cooks correctly.

      @@pressurecrisp thank you for your quick response. I just bought my foodi last week and I make several dishes with pasta. So I was just trying to find that basic cooking ratio just like when you cook rice on the stove which was 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water. So while I am on the subject what is the ratio to cook rice in the ninja food?

    • @pressurecrisp
      @pressurecrisp  Před 5 lety +3

      I usually cook it pot in pot. And I like mine sticky. My ratio is 1 cup rice to 1 1/4-1/2 water I cook HI Pressure for 6 minutes and a 10 minute NR but I usually have chicken cooking at the same time with it.

    If I were doing 8 oz of macaroni, would I halve the water amount to 2 cups? One more question--I noticed when I was using the saute function that when I shut the lid, it said "LID". Does it continue to keep it at the same temp, or does it stop cooking at that point and just keep warm?

    • @pressurecrisp
      @pressurecrisp  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes use 2 cups of water-even if you do a quarter recipe use 2 cups of water.-the pasta wont cook correctly with anything less-i tried it. The saute function will stop cooking. @pressurecrisp  Před 5 lety +2

      You can decrease the recipe with no issues but when cooking the pasta have 2 cups of water- it may seem like a lot but in order for the pasta to cook correctly it is needed. I have tried using less water but the pasta does not cook correctly. Some of the pasta will be very underdone. You can do 6-8 oz. of pasta but it will would serve more than 2 people. I haven't done 4 oz of pasta for Mac n cheese but it can be done. Think I will try this this week 4 oz pasta Mac n cheese.

    • @pressurecrisp
      @pressurecrisp  Před 4 lety +2

      Thats a good question, I almost jumped off. the couch and went out to kitchen to try this-lol. As long as the 2 pounds of pasta fit and all the water. This brings another question how much water-1 pound of pasta is 4 cups of water-I would assume you would use 8 cups of water.
      But when you go to do a quick release it will most likely spark a lot of starch in this case you could place a kitchen towel over the steam vent to catch most of the spray.
      Thanks for the question I still may have to try cooking 2 pounds of pasta .. thanks Elaine Bukowsky!
