  • When the weather grows cold, what better comforting dish is there besides Beef Stew?
    Ninja Foodi Beef Stew
    Ingredients
    2 Tbsp olive oil
    ½ cup flour
    1½ tsp sea salt
    1 tsp thyme dried leaves
    1 tsp pepper
    2 pounds chuck roast
2 onions large, divided or 3 smaller sweet onions
    1 cup red wine dry
    2½ cups beef stock divided
    2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    6 cloves garlic smashed
    1 lb carrots
    1 lb potatoes Yukon gold
    6 ounces mushrooms
    Instructions
    1. Combine the flour, salt, thyme, and pepper into a medium size container or bag. Cut up the beef into 1-1½" cubes and toss the beef cubes in the flour mixture. Reserve the remaining flour.
    2. Add the olive oil to the inner pot of the Ninja Foodi and turn the sear/saute on high. When the oil is very hot, add the beef cubes and brown them on all sides.
    3. Mince the garlic and cut one onion into large chunks and add them to the pot.
    4. Deglaze the pot with the wine and scrape the bottom with a non-stick-safe utensil to remove the browned bits (fond) from the bottom of the pot.
    5. Add in 2 cups of the beef broth (reserve ½ cup for later) to the inner pot. Stir well. Put the pressure lid on and turn the black valve to seal. Pressure cook on high for 10 minutes. When the time is up, immediately release the pressure.
    6. While the beef is pressure cooking, cut up the carrots into ½" slices, quarter the mushrooms, and cut the potatoes and onions into 1" pieces.
    7. When the pressure has been released, add in the Worcestershire sauce and the vegetables. Place the pressure lid on and turn the valve to seal. Pressure cook on high for 3 minutes. When done, immediately release the pressure.
    8. Remove about 1 -1½ cups of the broth from the pot and place in canning jar or other container. Add remaining ½ beef broth (that is cold or room temp) and then add the flour on top. Combine the flour with the broth well. Add back into the inner pot with the remaining stew and stir.
    9. Simmer on medium for 10 minutes to cook the added flour and thicken the stew.
    10. Serve and Enjoy immediately!

I'm a truck driver that was recommended a Ninja foodi with crispr/pressure. I'm looking for stew recipe for simple no kitchen prep using ONLY beef, carrots, potatoes and pre pack stew season. Tried different ones but can't make them work with so many missing ingredients. Any help would be great, ty

I have the newer ninja foodi pressure cooker. So just to make sure.. it only takes 8 minutes to actually cook the beef without the vegetables? Wow!!! I was thinking it would be about 20 minutes. Great video. I will try this recipe with the vegetables when it gets cold for just some stew. For now just the stew beef and gravy over some rice. ❤ Great video 😊!

The "8 minutes on high pressure" really takes 20-25 minutes once you add in the time it takes the cooker to get up to pressure, then the release time. The 8 minute timer does not begin until the cooker is at pressure and sealed. We cook our rice in the Ninja all of the time, and the 2 minutes at high pressure + the 10 minute natural release takes about 20 minutes in total. Hope that helps!

Nope, he clearly states he splits roughly 5 lbs between the two cookers.
I enjoy the ease and quality build of the smart lid, but its air fry mode is so much louder than previous models. Im torn between which one i keep haha.

hey man. do you ever use the slow cooker?

    • @GalleyoftheSun
      @GalleyoftheSun  Před 5 měsíci

Are you talking about the slow cooker feature on the Foodi? I don't think we have. Mostly the pressure feature, the sear feature and the sous vide.

If you just press any setting you are doing like how you go form pressure cooking the meat to the vegetables you won’t need to turn the ninja on and off to go to the next step…just food for thought

What can i use in place of red wine?

    • @GalleyoftheSun
      @GalleyoftheSun  Před 8 měsíci

If it is the alcohol you are worries about, it will all evaporate off, but here is a great article on substitutes for wine in cooking: www.bhg.com/recipes/how-to/cooking-basics/wine-substitute/. Hope that helps!

Great Video but a bowl instead of a plastic bag would work, too.
