- Just before the All Star Break, the Bucks have seen enough and have fired Adrian Griffin, and are reportedly hiring Doc Rivers as his replacement. On this episode of Road Trippin', Richard, Channing and Allie discuss how Griffin's firing draws parallels from David Blatt and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, and why Doc Rivers makes sense to lead the multiple stars on the Bucks roster. Yeah I'm with yall. I think Griffin's defensive scheme just didn't work with that roster and that Lillard-Holiday switch reeeaallly made it hard to adopt that scheme.
As a bucks fan, I'm a little nervous considering Doc's recent playoff struggles but have more faith in him than griffin. Plus, a duo of Giannis and Dame is better talent wise and maturity wise vs. CP3-Blake Griffin and Harden-Embiid.

Hey girl, as a Bucks fan who’s watched close to every game for nearly a decade, you’re definitely wrong about jrue being the difference maker for this team. That’s some bogus shit right there. jrue is a point of attack defender. There are many many point of attack defenders in this league. Before jrue was on this team, there were other POA defenders and the bucks were still a defensive juggernaut.
The bucks roster as currently constructed should certainly NOT be 22nd in defensive rating. They can easily be a mid defensive team and if they do so, can certainly beat all other opponents in their offensive game.
The issue isn’t that jrue is missing, it’s that there’s no understanding or cohesion on defensive assignments within this group. They were very disorganized and confused.
Giannis was calling plays and directing the team because griffin just wasn’t 🤷♀️
100% guarantee the Milwaukee bucks are capable of defending and doing it well.
Last night vs the Cavs were saw Brook STAY in drop without the pressure to guard one v one and giannis NEXT to Brook as a help defender. This is the most effective system for this team because it plays to their strengths defensively.
Running old men around Willy nilly, switching multiple times, big 7 footers guarding out on the perimeter is asinine. That’s why griff had to go. He wanted the aggressive on-ball defense to work for the bucks as it did for the raptors, but this team is very different in roster construction.
Best wishes to griff. He did is best in murky waters and nobody should fault him for that.
