This Megatron has to be by far the BEST version! Strong, smart, and intimidating all at once, with a very well written backstory and also voiced by the OG Megatron.
I always loved how, despite being a kids show, TFP did a good job of presenting the Decepticons as an actual military force, with its own history, goals, internal structure, military strategy and chain of command.
Finally a show that shows Megatrons more political side. He's not just a warrior and evil. You don't get a devoted following without words of grandeur.
Love how involved Ratchet was in this show, despite not being in action much his character was so well defined and had unique challenges and development. Easily my favourite version of the character
The conversation between Megatron and Ratchet is so well written! It's so wicked of how Megatron tries to appease to Ratchet's better nature in needing his help to restore Cybertron, though the Autobot knows the Decepticon so well after being the one responsible for the war in the first place, as well as responsible for any sadistic crimes.
One thing of particular interest for me in this scene is Ratchet bringing up Megatron's brutality against Bumblebee, rather than mentioning the death of many other comrades. It goes to show how traumatized Ratchet was by that particular act, and his inability to reverse it. We all have some 'less' relevant memories that leave great impacts on our characters, and having understood that long ago, that line hit me differently than the rest of this brilliant scene.
Something I find fascinating about this show, and most Transformers content in general, is how personal the “war” feels. Everyone knows each other by name, and no one ever really uses titles unless it’s within their own ranks. Cliffjumper refers to Starscream, the second in command of the entire Decepticon army and his eventual killer, as Scream. Any autobot can have a civil conversation with the power hungry tyrant that heads the Decepticons if they stay alive long enough for him to calm down. Decepticons and Autobots can have rivalries with the opposing side. If anyone has respect for someone on the opposite side, it’s usually because of something that happened before or unrelated to the “war.”
Megatron was always one of my favourite characters in TFP. The design as a villain, is so well done. He's intimidating, he's more than ready to join in a fight, intelligent and surprisingly actually has moral standards. Remember when Starscream fought Optimus and Starscream was about to finish him off but Megatron comes in at the last second. As Starscream said, Optimus is right there ready for the taking.
Megatron is a very smart politician, he conveys his attentions, however good or evil, says the truth no matter how bad it is, doesn't lie and still gets what he wants, (to an extent). Wish we had more politicians like him.
God, the voice actors bring so much life, and work well in tandem with the animation. Superb.

He treats his enemies and prisoners better than Starscream (most of the time.)
I could watch Megatron and ratchet talk for hours and not get bored.
I love how megatron even tho he is evil he is extremely respectful and honest

The dialogues here are gold
I always loved Frank Welker's voice for Megatron in this show. It's amazing.

Megatron made an offer that Ratchet could not refuse.

The ball bearings on Ratchet to threaten Megatron immediately after having his cuffs off
This video just goes to show how cunning Megatron can be and I love it. The writing and dialogue in this show is superb.
Ratchet: Megatron you would just try conquer Cybertron all over again and enslave anyone who refuses to pledge allegiance to you!
