because one is meant for off road which is the TRD Pro, and the Limited is designed for families. because it's a crew cab model, but both have a short bed. on the TRD Pro, putting a long bed makes the ride unbalanced when your going off road. and it works similar with the Limited. i think the best value Tacoma, is the SR5 trim levels. the reason being is that even though it's not as good as the TRD pro version off road, you can still go off road with it and at the same time give you a better ride on the road than the TRD Pro version gives you. it's a balanced trim level, plus you can choose if you want a longer bed. unfortunately regardless of the trim level including the base SR, the crew cab only comes with the short bed, but the single cab or ext cab you get a longer bed. i have a 2014 Toyota Tacoma with the SR5 trim level, and i have the ext cab version with the 6ft2 inch bed.
Raven you are wrong. Starting in 2016 there is no single cab truck.The SR5, TRD Sport & Off Road come as Extended Cab long beds. Dbl Cab versions are available with either the standard bed or for about $800 the long wheel base long bed. The Limited and Pro only come as a Dbl Cab standard bed.
Why, why oh why is carpet in a truck? First thing I did for my Tacoma is get WeatherTech floor mats stored the carpet floor mats in a bag in my garage.

I'm someone who offloads a little for fun (I don't modify my car as I like the car stock). I tow once in a while but not a lot. Im looking for a truck thats powerful and is not too big. Which truck should I go with? Thanks.

This is a nice truck, but Holy moly trucks have gotten WAY too damn expensive. It's not surprising though, sine car companies always tend to inflate the prices on their most popular vehicles to cash in on the popularity. Even at these absurd prices, trucks are still outselling every other segment, by far. It's crazy.
I don't understand how a vehicle that gets major changes once a decade (and will use the same chassis for even longer) can just sky rocket in price. I just drove a ZR1 Diesel Colorado around for 1000 miles though and really want to get the ZR2.. 47k though, jesus. If it was an i6/v6 maybe..
It's all about the demand. Manufacturers will continue to gouge consumers on trucks as long as people are willing to paying the price, and based on the ever increasing truck sales we see year after year, plenty of people are willing to pay up.
Wouldnt pay 50 grand for this over priced truck I have 2017 trd 4Ă2 paid 32.500 for it used & thought that was somewhat high funny thing is those who bought the trd pros for 50 grand up to 2019 didnt get electric seat from any 2020 regular trd 4Ă2 on up comes with an electric seat owners of the prior years have to be feeling very cheated on that..
biggest disappointment: It doesn't have a steering wheel warmer. how many times must my hands touch the ice cold steering wheel while my body is nice and warm

I really like this truck. For the cost of it, this 2017 Tacoma should have an optional moonroof, and a long bed as a option too.

My son has a 2017, 4x4 with a manual 6 speed trans. Some have had problems with the auto trans. Had to order the manual trans and wait four months.
