    I build computers and love technology. However, I love the simplicity of this Truck. When it comes to a Truck that I am financing, this it the one. I like leasing the vehicles with all the "high tech".

    Good job! I have a 2014 Toyota Tundra, Platinum. I still come back from time to time to see what good things this Tundra has. Thats how proud I am of mine, that I have to see the point of view of others and the brag it gets. GOOD JOB TOYOTA.

    People who whine about the lack of gadgets don't seem to get it. The most appealing thing about the Tundra is that it has none of that junk. Two complaints already about the key? Really?

      For the price they are making you pay, it doesn't matter. If I'm paying close to 50 grand for a truck.. I am expecting a better interior, a better key fob, a better instrument cluster, a better infotainment system that does not look like my Toyota Corolla and better seats that don't look like they were taken out of an old Camry, halogen headlights and fog lights.... This is a terrible truck for the price. Ford, Dodge and I can't believe I'm saying this, but GM also makes better looking trucks.
      If you pay $2,000 for a T.V, do you expect it to be at least 4K, smart TV with a remote control? If you answered yes, then there is NO reason why you should not have the same expectations for a 50 grand truck. Sorry dude, your argument does not hold. It will only make sense if this truck was like 20-30 grand.

    • @TodayWithDustin
      @TodayWithDustin Před 7 lety +2

      Ace I have to say that I agree 50k is a lot of money ALTHOUGH you are getting a very reliable truck with a very reliable engine and transmission. The GM, Ford, or Dodge can't compete with that. Maybe the Tundra isn't as teched out or "modernized" but there are people out there looking for a truck just like this. I'm not saying your comment is in any way wrong, it's just please try to see that there are some people who want a vehicle just like this. Simplicity should be a trucks middle name. I think trucks such as a Silverado High Country or a Titan Platinum Reserve is complete and utter bull crap. Why would anyone buy a TRUCK as a luxury vehicle? I mean if I bought a truck I would buy a base model so that I could love it at its simplest and so I could take it off road or have fun if need be without worrying about breaking some 2k item and having to pay out of pocket to replace.

    • @mdubiansky603
      @mdubiansky603 Před 7 lety +5

      You guys ever buy trucks? No one pays MSRP for trucks aside from rare stuff like the Raptor. You pay sticker for this truck you got ripped off. I wouldn't mind seeing some nicer materials inside. But every other brand has issues too. I'm looking to replace my Wrangler this spring and this is what I've come across
      GM: I'm a GM fan but these current trucks are half baked. They can't fix the vibration issues these trucks have, they recently backed off CarPlay and Andriod Auto on their infotainment ONLY on the pickups as far as I can tell, all direct injection engines have issues with intake valve carbon buildup, the trucks drive terrible with a lazy throttle unless you tune them and then compromise warranty coverage. And they sit too low.
      Ram: This was the top contender for me until the Jeep with only 24k on it started losing coolant. Dealer can't fix it and they do a poor job with their attempts to do so. Also, Chrysler is going to fail, again. Management is a bunch of fools and I bet they don't make it to the end of the decade. Chrysler makes some cool stuff but the quality is nonexistent and the local dealer being a moron doesn't help.
      Ford: Aluminum body itself doesn't worry me much. Audi's been doing it for years. But there are build quality issues with wavy bedsides and poor panel caps. Also check out the body seam on the roof. Ugly as sin on some of the trucks. You'll only see it from the bed but once you see it, you'll know it's there and it'd drive me nuts knowing.
      Toyota: Obviously not as polished as the rest of the trucks but it is the only no BS truck left- No fancy engines, no cylinder deactivation, no unique body materials, no tech that is going to be buggy. And if you want to whine about keys, look at the embarrassing junk you get on a current GM truck. They don't even put a brand name on the remote unless you buy the top trims.
      The new Titan might be the better alternative. I don't know much about the truck yet but they seem to have done a truck on a similar theme to the Tundra but being a bit more modern.

    Good solid work truck.. no gadgets to go bad and to send you back to the dealer.. had a Audi Q7 Nice to have all gadgets but every time it broke I was back at the dealer because they were the only ones who could fix it. So yea.. and if you take care of this truck you'll get 1,000,000 miles out of it.. name a audi or BMW that can do that.

    Thank you for doing this video. I've been very interested in this truck and I've been looking for videos that go over it in detail, and your video was perfect. All the other videos just talk about performance and suspension. Which is fine, but I also wanted to see all the little things inside and under the hood. So thank you again for the video, I will for sure be buying one of these in the future.

    I always wonder why Toyota puts those bumps under the back seats so that you don't have under seat storage. Something under the floor taking that space? Its really weird, i think its literally the only truck without space under the rear seats.

    • @dalephillips8250
      @dalephillips8250 Před 4 lety

      @LoneSpartan....This is the same thing I've been saying about that. I wish they had storage space there like they do on the "double cab" model. It makes absolutely no sense at all. @Sirboom I wonder if the new ones are just foam under there and you can have a storage compartment added later?

    Very nice truck, but wheels should be satin black to match the rest of the trim. High gloss doesn't really work on an off road focused truck. And as with pretty much all trucks these days, the price isn't very nice. I know it's only a couple grand more than the Tacoma TRD Pro, but it doesn't have all the features of that truck.

    The 2017 Tundra now has "Forced Lighting". You CANNOT turn off the lights even during the daytime. The engineers in Tokyo are now controlling. ALWAYS look at the light switch for ”DRL OFF". The Toyota dealer can disable Forced Lighting so the driver has control of the lights. Make this a condition of the sale at the time you buy.

  • @bradnc1988
    @bradnc1988 Před 6 lety +3

    As beautiful as the TRD Pro is, I could not convince myself to drop nearly 50k on something so technologically outdated. From the powertrain to navigation, every element speaks to a decade old truck in dire need of a redesign. Even the obvious components such as lighting represent this neglect, which was addressed in the standard 2018 Tundra.
    Word of advice to all potential buyers, wait it out.

    • @jbravo70
      @jbravo70 Před 6 lety

      Brad Brown agree 100%! Not only technologically inferior but every truck competitor has stronger engines that are getting mpg's in the 20's. Tundra with 5.7L gets u 13mpg in city, that's totally unacceptable! And what did Toyota Engineers do to the engine to fix that gas guzzling problem...They double the gas tank capacity! I've had nothing but Toyota trucks all my life, but Toyota better get with it!

    • @bradnc1988
      @bradnc1988 Před 6 lety

      The MPG was a big concern for me as well, but I can work around that one. Toyota didn't conform to the cylinder deactivation that nearly all competitors put in place for good reason. After speaking to a few GM mechanics, there was one central issue with this concept. Uneven cylinder wear. It's a major component of reliability, and therefore something I'm willing to work around. We'll see what the 2019's do.

      Tt Ss it's not a bad truck.. it's simple and built to last. You can always add the LED lights . That's not a problem.. Plus you are able to adjust the head lights when the back of the truck is squatting from hauling .

    • @ttss5726
      @ttss5726 Před 7 lety

      Really? Simple and build to last. It doesn't cost 40 grand to last the only thing that is going to last is the engine I know i have a 08 4runner with over half a million miles on it running like a champ. No at 40 grand I shouldn't have to spend money on LEDS or HIDS why because it should be common sense adding it for the safety aspect of it. A camary is far less then this truck and has LED and HIDS heck my 08 4runner at least had leds tail lights and projectors. No reason why they could have added it. Its like buying apple products you have to wait 4 or 5 generation to get what should have been include the first year it came out. Prime example the 5th gen 4runner 2010 halogen everything then each year the added LEDS and OEM HIDS etc etc. As far as your comment of adjusting the level of the HEADLIGHTs to compensate for squatting UHH NO its built for hauling there should be no squatting unless is over the max recommendation of the truck. Your advice is GHETTO at best I'm sorry i have better things to do then adjust headlights overtime i decide to haul just to finish and have to do it again. Thats why they get away with doing stuff like this people like you say ill just work around it. Just like others have said also the cheaper out on the tires also so thats another added grand on top of the purchase for the better tire that actually works rather then the shit tires it has now

    • @Danny-d
      @Danny-d Před 7 lety

      Tt Ss wow.. well it's different strokes for different folks and for a lot of people it's like that I'm not the only customer. So relax and I have had problems towing and had the rear end squatting. Just depends what you do with the truck . Most people are just simple and not complex ..also LEDs are really expensive to replace . There not just a bulb it's usually like a LED light bar like what u see on the new car.. the new Honda have them and A lot of people don't want to dish out that kind of money if they're going to keep it over a long period of time. Xenon option would've been better but they're like $100 a bulb and last twice as long as Hid.. and most people customize these trucks .. but next year's model will have that option.

    Wow no tech, that is music to my ears. A lot of you people are greedy af. Just because this truck has a NORMAL key or halogen headlights doesn't make it "old" or "dated", it means Toyota is listening to the group of us that want a real normal pickup truck. Wish they would go backwards on cwrs, they are getting too far a head.

    • @CJColvin
      @CJColvin Před 7 lety +1

      Dustin Hart I hear you man I prefer simple rather than complicated. The reason why I love about my 96 F150 is that it only has powered windows, door locks, aircondition, and remote start and that's about it and don't have all this junk that they're putting in modern vehicles today. Modern Trucks in general are not only overpriced but they look hideous and ugly and my 96 F150 will outlast anything you see on the road today and plus my truck looks better than anything you see on the road today as well.

    would anyone pick this over a raptor? if so what's your reasoning?

    • @ramenthenoodle_
      @ramenthenoodle_ Před 7 lety

      Del up to a $20K price difference. Possibly even higher with dealer markups.
      Another reason would be the Toyota reliability, reputation and resale value.
      Don't get me wrong, the Raptor is bad ass... but Ford.

    • @Hans0622
      @Hans0622 Před 7 lety

      So how would you say the tundra fares against the raptor off road?

    • @ramenthenoodle_
      @ramenthenoodle_ Před 7 lety +1

      Del the raptor is hands down the best factory ready off truck out there. However the price reflects it and the markups make it not worth it. The problem is Ford is just not known for being reliable and that's a huge component of an off roader. You don't want the fear of a mechanic issue when you're out in the middle of nowhere. That's the issue with Jeeps too. Chryslers are extremely unreliable vehicles.
