Five years ago, This is still best looking truck.
Today, I test drove a 2018 JLU Rubicon (the one everybody is so "excited" about). Then I went across town and drove a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off Road. I have to say, Jeeps are cool and all that, and maybe a little more capable off road.... but the Tacoma felt MUCH more refined, tighter and just better built. Plus, it was almost $10K cheaper than the Rubicon!! Sorry Jeep fans, no insult intended, but the Tacoma just made that $50K Jeep feel almost junky. Besides, that extra $10K would go a long way towards mods to make that Tacoma even more capable. I'm sold on the Tacoma.

Best Toyota Tacoma video I've seen so far. As for the truck, I have a 2017 TRD Off-road and everything is pretty much the same. Wish they add Power Seats. That is my biggest Complaint.

@Colson Pallo you mean Army Green? The tan is called "quicksand" and not available in the Pro for 2020. Personally, I'm planning on a TRD OR in Cement.

Just picked one up a few days ago and so far I really love it. I know transmission tech has come a long way, but I still prefer manual. Locking gas cap or compartment is absolutely critical...can't believe that doesn't come standard. The bed really should be a foot longer.

I've got about 500 miles on a new TRD Off Road. Generally I'm happy with it. Though don't expect to get anywhere near the EPA mileage ratings unless your daily commute involves straight, empty roads with no stops... and you always have the wind at your back. I drive 20 miles roundtrip to and from work. The route is almost all open country roads. There are only 5 stop signs total. I'm really easy on the gas peddle. Never in a big hurry. But the road is pretty curvy. The best I can muster is 18.1 mpg. Usually it's high 16's or 17, which is below the bottom end EPA rating. So that's a bit irritating.

It's starting to climb and at 1300 miles I'm at 19.6 mpg for this tank. I have corolla I bought new in 08 and remember mpg climbing till almost 30k and hope the same with my 2018 tacoma

Also, does anyone know if Toyota has fixed the rust issue with their frames? There is a current lawsuit on tacos, tundras, and sequoia. Apparently they rust prematurely. I can’t believe Toyota would skimp on their frame! I figured that was a thing of Toyota’s past and surely they wouldn’t be so dumb as too let something this major continue.. sad because they’re so reliable otherwise.

I have this truck but a 2017 model. I’m glad they changed the factory tires to those much more off-road capable Goodyears. However, I’m disappointed in the 3.5L engine. On the other hand, my 2017 with the tech package gives me heated cloth seats, which apparently you have to upgrade to leather now to get the butt warmers. This model year does give you some nice accenting on the seat stitching; not sure I like the red dash accenting though. To each his own I suppose. BTW - love the little hand. What spurred your decision to use the hand pointer?

What I don't like is the lack of power seats at the high end of the trim. And, rear drum brakes in this day and age?
There are many good articles online explaining why drums are used on the Tacoma if you want to learn.
They finally upgraded to proper tires, nice! The seating position up front, and lack of leg room in the rear, kill this truck for a lot of people

It's the same as every 2014+ SR5 if you just want something to look at. That was the last refresh and it was just interior changes. I'm considering buying a 2015+ SR5 but everyone has convinced me that KDSS is amazing if you're on the road most of the time, and that requires a Trail edition. Also, be aware, 2019 is either the new 4runner or the end of 4runner as frame on body. Nobody seems to know yet.
You don't need a review for that... Get one and take it from someone who recently did.. You won't regret it!
Its the best car on the planet... don't let the fools tell you otherwise (usually they say things like "the 4runner is outdated" or "its slow"..) Off-road as well as on-road the 4Runner is king! unmatched really, it does what a Jeep Wrangler does and you can still drive it daily comfortably and it comes with unmatched reliability.. go for it!
It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but then it doesn't have issues with those bells and whistles too. The Tacoma and 4runner are the top 2 highest resale trucks you can own. You can enjoy them for a few years and not lose your shirt if you ever decide to get rid of it.

I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD 4x4 LEMON with 10,500 miles. Starting off on a
grade it clicks like a spindle then goes bang bang bang steel crashing
together sound. Horrible, whole truck shakes. Anyone out there
experience this? Mechanic said its traction control. Now they say its
hill assist. TOYOTA WILL NOT WARRANTY> They say its normal operation.
Locked up trying to get onto a busy thoroughfare. Had to back into the
parking lot I came out of. Scary Scary. I bought this last truck I am a
senior. It is a big big mistake. Any advise ? Lemon Law Lawyer here in
Oklahoma says I need to get it in 2 more times on the same issue but

headache? By the way the Tacoma's wont tow at all at all even at half
it's tow rating. Constant struggling shifting out on highway to maintain

people are arrogant and rude. Had service lied to me about reproducing
the issue no problems found. Service guy lied, Toyota Dealership ,
Ardmore Oklahome....Kicking myself for trading in my 2014 Chev 4x4...

Cheap to put on and cheap to maintain.
Very disappointed by the rear drum brakes. Cost more to service, less capability than discs. parking drum disintegrates to non-working from road grime in short order. Continuing ancient technology on a $40k truck?!

What blows my mind is how ridiculously high priced these are, underpowered, and not crazy off road capable, and horrible fuel mileage, and worse when you tow and can’t hold much in the bed.
Buy a used diesel truck for same price and beat this in EVERY CATEGORY I just mentioned.

They are a new tire package available in 2018. See window sticker at the end.
Those tires don't look stock. The TRD Off-road I seen at my local dealers have highway thread tires.

That's the first dealer add-on I actually thought was cool. The rest of them I would skip on, but those are really nice tires and adds to the look of the vehicle as well.
The dealer didn't add it. It is an option from Toyota.
