    The Arditi were Italian shock troops developed to break out of the prolonged stalemate on the front lines against the Austro-Hungarian army in Northern Italy during World War One.
    Known as "The Daring Ones," they were among the bravest and most courageous troops of the war due to their fearless charges of enemy trenches with only daggers and grenades as their main weapons.
    Trained in 14th Century martial arts and fencing, the Arditi were masters of close quarters and hand-to-hand combat. Utilizing speed and surprise, they were highly effective in seizing enemy positions and causing terror among their opponents. The Arditi were among the main contributors in finally defeating the Austro-Hungarian army in November 1918.

    It was actually even scarier. Arditi were rewarded with prizes from bringing back weapons and live prisoners, especially officers. So not only were they fighting hand to hand, but they'd even try to capture people.

    A number of ARDITI delle FIAMME NERE (Arditi of the Black Flames) of about 130 suvivors after one of the usual fearless assaults had been sieged by the Austrians (over 4000 men) in the town of Pontvecchio and quickly ran out of all ammunition...so the commander ordered an extreme attempt for that very night loyal to the motto "o la vittoria o tutti accoppati" (either Victory or we all die together).
    Well...a number of about 80 Arditi managed to surviv and break the siege, literally "a calci, pugni e morsi" (with kicks, punches and bites).

    Think of the wound a knife makes. Blade at least an inch wide, more than 6" long. A heavy rifle having to move a rifle is bulky. Up close, the barrel can be deflected., A soldier is inside of the gun barrel, the gun isn't much use except, striking and blocking. A big weapon, where Arditi have much easier maneuverable knives, stabbing and slicing. Then being well skilled with maneuvering, blocking, parrying, that's more than someone drafted in, taught to shoot and a few basics.

Also the design is a better cutter than stabbing knife. It is hard have a real idea of the USA out of propaganda, as any country in the position of cultural dominance, but:
      - War of Independence was a minor sector of a major European conflict and the help of France was decisive to win.
      - War of 1812 the same: if Great Britain wasn’t focused on fight with Napoleon in Europe the US nearly return a British Colony.
      - War against Spain was fought with a nation in full decline and both Cuba and the Philippines was still successfully fighting alone for their independence, but the US take advantage to occupy the Philippines instead help to gain freedom and indirectly the same with Cuba not to talk about Puerto Rico.
      - WWI fought in the end.
      - President Wilson pretend to establish the League of Nations to prevent conflicts but the USA didn’t join...
      - They retire from Russian civil war beaten by Red Army.
      - In Nicaragua in the ‘30 Augusto Sandino kick out the marines.
      - WWII start fighting in the middle and oversea with their territory untouched and protected by two oceans.
      - Corea war was a draw on the battlefields and General Mac Arthur in a hard self delirium maybe exchange himself for Alexander the Great ask to start a nuclear war against China.
      - Vietnam war was a military and political disaster: they also use chemical weapons and killed and abused thousands of Vietnamese civilians despite in movies seems they had exotic love stories...
      - Grenada (yes Grenada...) was a full victory
      - Panama (yes Panama....) too
      - War in the gulf Americans formed a coalition of half of the world against one single nation.
      - Invasion of Somalia , Irak and Afghanistan the same with poor results.
      - The bombing of Yugoslavia was made by entire NATO
      - The USA de facto conquered Japan because the atomic bombs: a mass murder weapon. Interesting about Japan is the US first contact was by the uninvited US Navy ask with guns to open the bay of Tokyo with the force and less then a century after they nuked twice Japan
      - They was “brave” only against peaceful native Americans armed with neolitic weapons and Mexico who was always destabilized from the interior to grab how much territory as possible.
      Despite this the american propaganda machine have brainwashed his people and not only but really we don’t know the real power, skills and bravery of american soldiers because their propaganda exploited the victories and put in oblivion the losses.
      On contrary make exactly the opposite about their enemies and sometimes sadly their allied too to make their show.
      It is obvious the USA is a superpower but not as the Americans pretend to depict.

      History Uncovered- Like your vids, but you're seriously preventing yourself from getting major views by your narration style; monotone and bored sounding is not going to get subscribers. If you don't sound interested, why should we be? Again, I enjoy your content, but your presentation needs work. Then you'll be a hit.

    • @HistoryUncovered
      @HistoryUncovered  Před 6 lety +3

      Narrating isn't easy.. especially when you have to say and pronounce every word perfectly. One mistake and you have to do it all over again. I'm definitely not bored narrating..I'm making sure everything sounds correct. I kind of sound monotone normally.. Oh well...I'll keep trying.

    • @ChrisDynamo
      @ChrisDynamo Před 6 lety

      History Uncovered- Believe me, it's very clear that you're reading your script, that's why it sounds unnatural and a bit too grim (even despite the subject matter), making it tough to digest quite interesting information. You're very easy to understand so less focus on pronunciation, and try to visualise that you're telling this to a person sitting in front of you, that will really let out the passion, get the viewer engaged. I'm not saying that narration is easy nor am I just railing on you, I don't want you feeling defensive, I think that your channel could be a real hit, making your latest video the standard in views and not a fluke, and these few tweaks might be what you need to really break out.

    quando sei al caldo davanti al PC con lo stomaco pieno e un buon bicchiere di birra vicino e magari una pipa e la donna nella stanza accanto è una cosa ... ma se sei ferito e sofferente (tipo un osso rotto o un dolore tipo colica o dente cariato o un crampo muscolare interminabile o come una scossa nervosa continua i un bruciore agli occhi tipo taglio cipolla ma amplificato...) senza un aiuto a portata di mano, solo, e sete e fame da aver crampi allo stomaco in una trincea nel fango, sporco al freddo con pioggia battente e puzza di formaggio rancido o uova marcio o mer*da e la paura di essere scoperto ...la poesia della guerra e del morire in povertà ti passa...o quantomeno ci pensi. Cit di un amico ex legione Straniera... when you are warm in front of the PC with a full stomach and a good glass of beer nearby and maybe a pipe and the woman in the next room is one thing ... but if you are injured and in pain (like a broken bone or a pain like colic o carious tooth o an interminable muscle cramp o like a continuous nervous jolt i a burning in the eyes like onion cut but amplified ...) without help at hand, alone, and thirst and hunger from having stomach cramps in a trench in the mud, dirty in the cold with pouring rain and the smell of rancid cheese or rotten eggs or shit and the fear of being discovered ... the poetry of war and dying in poverty passes you ... or at least you think about it. Quote from a former Foreign Legion friend ...

      La poesia della guerra esiste solo nella testa di chi la considera uno spettacolo da guardare da lontano. Mio nonno era negli arditi e non sono mai riuscito a fargli dire una sola parola su questa parte della sua vita. Ho imparato presto a non chiedergli nulla sull’argomento, non rispondeva ma la faccia che faceva era più che eloquente.

    I think thy used a different knife. The Sardinian knife you mentioned & pictured is not a dagger and has no locking mechanism witch would make it almost completely useless in battle. I know this because I have one hand made in Sardinia and it more akin to a peasants knife or shepherds knife.

    • @Hissatsu5
      @Hissatsu5 Před 3 lety +1

      @Kung Fu Warlock yes but this knife in the video has no locking mechanism and can’t be used in combat the only thing it’s good for is for a picnic or utility task but it wouldn’t be safe for combat it would most likely cut the persons fingers off who is using it !

      Something like that, you need to know that not all of them were specially trained, since the war times doesnt give you chance of that all the time. So on the last months the Arditi had trained ppl and soldiers too between their lines because on each assault they lost heavy % of ppl
