Almost foretelling the wars of 20th century when they killed tens of millions of their own people for nothing and still today they are fighting in Ukraine, where they forced brotherly nations to fight each other. And the colonialism, slavery etc that caused hundreds of millions of natives being victimized to genocides all around the world.

In Sudomer the situation was a little different than described. The area is full of many fishponds which are specifically there for raising carp. These are drained to collect the fish. So at Sudomer ZIzka set up the wagons (in a semi circle but also more offset in a zig zag pattern rather than end to end, because this makes it easier to setup as well as leave), the ponds on the other side had been drained so they actually looked more like fields but proved to be muddy and attacking cavalry was stuck and the knights were forced to dismount.

I was curious to see your take on this. I m French and read the original version. Just could nt put it down untill I was through, with a gasp or laugh at every page. Louis IX 'the Saint' inspired surch devotion in his men that they managed to make an epic thaat would be told in all of Europe, and even on the arabs side, out of one of the most desastrous crusades, plagued by all sorts of mean turns of events, from weather, disease, famin, impossible odds, etc.. Louis actually never fully recovered and died in Tunis on a second attempt, from exhaustion and disease, before making it back to France. He s remembered in tradition as one of , if not the most pious, just and chivalrous king and no historian wants to fuck with him to this day, even in these sick times of turning our inherited values into shit we should be ashamed of ! Because there s simply no dirt to be found...
