Hello, Brian. A very concise and useful video, keep up the good work.
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet (so many comments to read) but one reason to get the complete hot end is to make changing nozzle sizes practical. I have the 0.2, 0.4, 0.6. and 0.8mm complete hot ends and spare hot ends without fan, heater, thermistor, or sock.
The complete ones are for swapping nozzles while the mere hot ends are for repair parts. I have them in a parts box with the screws, socks, clips, and thermal paste I keep in a drawer under the printer.
With a little practice, swapping complete hot ends is not much harder than standard nozzles. It takes me about 2 minutes. I've had a harder tine with some standard nozzles and of course I don't have to heat up the hot end to get it free.

Finally had this happen to me after about a year of owning the x1c. It was time to replace the nozzle anyway after taking it off I could see the hole was much larger that the new nozzle.

Another great video Brian. I just got this model printer a month back and have used it almost daily in our Fifth Wheel Home. I was a little hesitant to consider changing the Hot End for a 0.6mm one, but after seeing your video I think I can do it now safely and completely. I have my printer sitting on a desk with the back facing a window that I open whenever I print anything and it makes both me and my wife happy that we can't smell anything printing with PLA, PLA+, and PETG filaments. I haven't tried printing with ABS or ASA yet so that is another bridge to cross in the future.

Very useful video! Thank you. I just used these instructions to build up my own E3D ObXidian 0.6 complete hotend module from E3D and Bambu parts instead of swapping parts from a factory 0.4 nozzle.
It was 100% useful, just done it!
Very helpful. I broke the thermister on my .04mm from frequent hot-end swapping and had to order a replacement. Ended up replacing the nozzle too.

Wow thanks a lot Bryan, exactly the same thing happened to me and I was trying to figure out whats the issue for two days now. On mine the bendage was less and not as noticeable, maybe that's why I didn't see it until I took the nozzle off.

I do like how easy it is to work on that part. The magnets are a great and just being able to remove a few screws and unplug a few wires makes it a quick job.
Also now the video had appeared in my recommend list again, I would like to say that, Don't use blowtorch on the hotend . There is probably a PTFE tube inside the nozzle, and heat treat it makes it losen up.
The right way to un-clog your nozzle is use a solder iron or heated wire to stuff in from the material feeding line and try to pull the stuck material out.
This video is great. My unit does not have a silicon sock, just 2 months old. Is sockless the new fashion?
Bryan, hoping you can help. This video was very informative. I have a clogged hot end and I am in the middle of a large print. Is there a way to preserve my position in the print so that I can turn off the printer, remove the AMS, unclog the hot end, and put it all back together and resume the print?

I am a carpenter by trade I have never owned a 3D printer, but I am seriously considering buying this bambu X1carbon yes it is a large investment compared to other 3D printers. I am not worried about programming. I can figure it out. What scares me is maintenance. Would you recommend the bambu for a beginner?

Seems like a very delicate part to be damaged so easily...
I've heard the nozzle drag on a print before, and that sort of thing doesn't phase it. This was a hard hit. Startlingly loud. I'm not surprised it bent.
Something to note is that this printer is printing at a very high rate of speed. Furthermore, slice engineer has been patent trolling around the idea of reinforced nozzles for a few years now.
I like that they provide pre-wired and bare ways. Meeting both novice and hobbyist needs.
what a more sane design than my MK3S has. The wires are more better protected from blobs of death, accessing the parts is lot less like dealing with a wooden puzzle toy. I wonder if they'll sell those separately to people who don't have bambu printers?

Flawless. No failed prints. Comes out excellent every time; using stock + some customized settings. Have only tried BambuLab’s PA-CF filament.
On my X1c the cable in 3.56 is GLUED to the socket. :D
Have you tried the Professional firmware from mriscoc on the Ender 3 v2? Would be interesting to see a comparison with JyersUI... Cheers!

Do Not bend the heat sensor while unisntalling. Also make sure you remove the cable before uninstalling. Do not hang your hot end by the heat sensor cable like I did before.

I had a big piece of filament harden around the whole heat end, I was able to get that off, however it's bent and I'm having a real hard time getting the clip off
Hi! So there is no way to install for example Diamondback nozzle MK8 ? if I need to print carbon filaments, because after 2kg of CF filaments steel nozzle become larger diameter.
Great video Bryan and very easy to follow. I am just about to order a X1C but want to have a 0,2mm nozzle for tiny models as well as a 0.8mm fpr faster speeds when doing larger parts. Since I will be ordering the additional sized nozzles, my question to you is this. Does the X1C come with the hardened 0.4mm nozzle or is it just the stainless steel one? Just thinking I could order a hardened 0.4mm at the same time. Thanks in advance.
It comes with 2 nozzles if you get the combo. They are both 0.4mm. They do this because the .2mm won't print carbon fiber etc. Some prints also require the 0.2mm head, so be mindful of that. Hope that helps a little.

Absolutely. The devastation was horrific.
Got my P1P yesterday, on its 4th print it slammed the hotend into the print on the buid plate and completely destroyed the hotend, thermistor and ceramic heating element. I bought it at a local shop that has a 12 month warranty, I'll be returning it. It was my birthday present I truly am upset. This printer still doesn't have all its kinks worked out. I'll be sticking with my ender 3 v 2 for the foreseeable future, unfortunately.
anyone know where to buy the thermal grease? I have spend just 30 minutes googling, and all videos seem to talk about what comes with the printer, but not where to get more. I used up what came with the printer, investigation problems, and switching between .4 and .6 nozzles - and so dont have any for installing the spare 0.4 hot end that was with it. I am not buying a nozzle just for thermal grease...
How did your ceramic heat block just pull off like that ? Mine is stuck on there permanently and won’t come off
Mine was held in place by the clip. The thermal compound didn’t act like a glue or anything. Removing the clip was really all it took on mine. Maybe some isopropyl alcohol will help soften the thermal compound on yours.
Somehow I think you're going to get a few more views of this video after the "job jamming" issue
Its a very easy process compared to some other manufacturers' convoluted hotends, but when you consider a full set of nozzle sizes and spares and some Hardened steel ones the price suddenly becomes gargantuan (How about a saver pack Bamboo Labs?), the only saving grace would be that the nozzles in the hotends have a much longer print life than the ones we are used to using, I wonder who will be the first to come up with a cheaper alternative hotend solution for this machine, hopefully it will be Bamboo Labs.
its a closed source machine, so no one can really modify it, this is the reason that many people don't like it
@@Fejszi Thats not going to stop people coming up with ways to fit off the shelf hotends to it.
it's crazy cheap, the whole hotend assembly is like 30$ with the heaters and everything, not even creality can match those prices
@@Fejszi people are still going to make third party parts for the machine. And Bambu themselves said that if their company ever goes away, they will release everything out on open source

Do not use cotton swab. You waste thermal paste and contaminate it with cotton strands which compromise flatness of thermal contact and will decompose when heated. Rather use some narrow spatula, a piece of credit card or flat screwdriver. Or just apply a line in the middle right out of thermal paste packet. There is no need to spread it, it will spread once you put the heater on top of it.

@@BV3D I don't think that anything bad will actually happen. It's just why make it possibly worse and lose thermal paste on soaking the swab with it. It would be better if that extra thermal paste which was left on the swab would get on the hotend instead. The amount you applied is likely enough, however if hotend or heater is not perfectly flat, it may be not enough to fill all of the gaps.
my parts need to be printed in .2 or .3 head size yet I dont see that as an option from cabon x1.
I got a .2 for my P1P - not sure when they added them, but got mine about 2 weeks ago.

Seems like a lot of work to change nozzle size. Especially if there is nothing wrong with your hotend. I just paid for mine yesterday. I hope I don't regret it. I hate having to constantly replace thermistors, and nozzles on my ender clone. I was hoping this part of the machine would be more modular. :(
You can get the fully assembled module for about $35, in a few different nozzle sizes. They have the ceramic heater and thermistor and fan already mounted. In that instance, it's two screws and three connectors to swap hot ends out, which should be an under-five-minute proposition.
Duuuude, you have an Ender clone that I bet has hours of tunning and mods. Now you will be getting a printer that just works out of the box... I think you will love it.

followed ur instructions but broke my thermistor cable, waiting for a new toolhead board, Waiting forever ;(..
mine was stuck on and I ended up breaking the thermistor wire. you should work with one that is not so new like yours so we can see what to do in real life. decent video if someone is changing out the brand new nozzle for a different size.

For as much as they cost, there should be no issues with these printers.
And there are very few… you can’t expect perfect with any 3D printer. If that’s what you need then maybe this isn’t the right technology for you.
