      That’s not too uncommon. Movies take a while to make. We only really pay attention from the time they start filming. Before that it takes years to find a cast, find money, writers to improve first draft of script, make all schedules work etc. And hardest of all is keeping all the people and the money available and schedules free while you’re doing all this prep

    Seeing The Irishman twice made me appreciate it a little bit more and also, this film is the portrayal of the death of Gangsters movies and a way to honour Hollywood classic in which Marty Scorsese (the film director) grew up.

    it's really something, seeing that there's Bob De Niro and there's Scorsese and Joe Pesci . . . together working again for the first time in maybe 20 years.
    oh, and Al Pacino, too. you don't get better than that. _The Irishman_ was a flat-out, old school victory lap for some of the greatest artists of this or any generation working in the movies.

    it really shows you what a trip great actors take to get those great, great roles. Joe Pesci's table read is dry, undramatic, totally unspectacular. any high school theater geek could do justice to the quality of that initial read by Pesci.
    but then . . . look at what he did with it when it came time to put up for real. the way he says "and some people are having serious problems with him" is nearly perfect. you can tell he's trying to break it as nice to his friend as he possibly can . . . but he's also SET on seeing this thing done.
    it was an amazing performance, and the best of his career. it was great to see him back, and even greater to see him come back on the top of his profession.

      well it was good, but it wasnt really Scorseses Best Movie. As i said still Good but not Goodfellas Level, or Casino or other Scorsese Movies.       Have not seen the film yet; however, if most people don't understand the film there's a good chance its not written very well. Just a general rule of thumb.

    yeah like other people have said, you can really see Scorsese realize at 2:00 that this thing's gonna _work._ this picture's gonna play and then some.
    i get from his face that whoever he was looking at, Scorsese was kind of going "see? you see now? i told you. this is gonna work, and it's gonna be amazing."

      @@VicenzoV I disagree. If you were expecting this to be another knockout kinectic rollercoaster ride like Goodfellas or Casino then of course you're gonna be disappointed. This movie I'd argue is even more complex than those other two and it's a great and welcome sendoff for Scorsese's mobster films.

      Argelis Planchart I think the Irishman has a lot more depth than goodfellas or casino, that’s what I like about it. It has a lot more to teach you about life than just about a rise and fall of gangsters.
