    - In terms of materials, ergonomics, display and sound ROG Ally is a substantial improvement over Steam Deck.
    - ROG Ally uses a 1080p/120Hz IPS display with Freesync versus Steam Deck's 800p/60Hz LCD.
    - Running Windows 11, ROG Ally gives us access to any client available on PC. From Steam, to Epic Games or Xbox Game Pass.
    - Steam Deck takes advantage in some aspects better of your hardware thanks to its custom OS and Gaming mode.
    - Valve also collaborates with some developers to optimize their games on Steam Deck and this makes the differences with ROG Ally not too far apart in some titles.
    - However, ROG Ally hardware can outperform Steam Deck by up to 20/30fps running at its native resolutions as a general rule.
    - Load times on ROG Ally are faster when turning it on, starting games or within the game itself.
    - ASUS has started down a promising path into handheld PCs. If it continues to work to optimize the ROG Ally hardware, Valve would have its work cut out for it with the successor to Steam Deck.

La ASUS sin duda es muy llamativa, aunque por precio optaré por una Steam Deck, además sólo será una extensión de mi PC y consolas, así que jugar a 720p/800p es suficiente. • @Sarge92
      @Sarge92 Před rokem +4

      is it? go look at what happens in a head to head of windows vs linux when in 15w mode and the truth becomes clear windows is a bloated mess allyn needs those specs just to handle windows what your actually getting for gaming is not as much as you think
      the ally is the worst thing to happen to the handheld PC gaming market
      because it sets back any and all progress valve could have made now instead of valve being able to apply pressure to the gaming industry to increase support for getting anticheat and other games workable on linux theyll just point to ally and say why should we?
      so now were locked back into the windows ecosystem where we need to spend more money on hardware and even the os just to be able to get a decent performance and alot of what you actually paid for in performance you dont get to use because that gets taken up by windows and having to run it
      windows is a terrible os for gaming
      playstation does not use windows
      nintendo does not use windos
      and heres the shocker XBOX doesent even use windows it uses a verry verry verry basic stripped back to hell operating system that has only the components needed to run the dashboard and the games themselves
      no one does this because the less footprint your os takes the more performance you can throw at the games themselves allowing you to keep hardware costs down
      most games being on windows is not a argument for adopting windoes its a symptom of the problem valve was trying to fix by breaking the strangle hold on gaming windows had and they where doing it in a way that didnt even pull the monopoly over to them the same development into proton that made windows games run on steamdeck makes them work on other os's
      the only major holdouts was anticheat which valve was slowly making progress towards but now why bother ea activision epic and all the others who barley gave a fuck about there users in the first place will just say fuck em tell em to buy a ally if they wanna play
      games being on windows was never because windows was good they was on windows because that was the platform that most people had

    • @mjdibella
      @mjdibella Před rokem +3

      @@Sarge92 well, it’s interesting that you would mention ‘anti-cheat’. Some of us (myself included) need to run apps that make games easier. I am 73, with arthritic hands. I regularly run WeMod or Cheat Engine….in single player mode only, of course. Valve’s adamant refusal to allow these tools to run on the Steam Deck has made it impossible for me to play several games. I can use these tools on Windows easily. Look, nobody is saying that these tool s should be used in any online, multiplayer setting. But offline, it’s no harm, no foul. Valve could easily have worked to implement an offline restricted mode for modders. They have refused to do so. On the other hand, it is easily done in Windows. I look forward to buying and playing Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and other hard games, which I will play offline in ‘easy mode’. Valve gets a sale, I get to play, and I stay offline so nobody else cares.

    I’ve been using the Ally for over a week and it’s been running great. After you do all the updates, it seems to be running okay without any major issues. Overall, it’s a beast! I’ve been playing a lot of FIFA, COD and NFS. The only major issue to me is the battery life, most of the time I have it plugged in. I can barely get through 2 online fifa matches on full charge. A power bank would be a good investment if I were to use it more on the go. So if you are on the fence, just cop it, it’s an amazing handheld! If you can deal with the normal windows problems and god tier battery life 😂, this thing will NOT disappoint!

Make it 720p or 800p 60hz like SteamDeck and enjoy the extra performance. Screen is already small, and battery is already on a tight budget. Now people will say "then open games in lower resolution" ... Nope, nothing compares to 1:1 native scale.

    Me encantaría saber cómo corre RE4 y Hogwarts en medium. Llegará a 30FPS estables?

    Why the colours seems better on the ROG Ally ?

    The upgrade isn’t significant enough to justify leaving the steam deck and it’s exclusive features. It’s probably safer to wait for a steam deck 2

    Thank you for this analyze. For me looks like it's not worth to upgrade from Steam Deck at all. Performance SD 800p vs ROG 1080p is very similar. On such small sized screens, 1080p is not a a very big improvement from 800p. Also I like 16:10 aspect ratio.

      Exactly it’s actually disappointing because this SOC is capable of a lot more. Asus went cheap with the ram it should be the 7500mhz variant and windows 11 which has high overhead costs. If valve makes a handheld with the 7840 it will be legitimately twice the performance of not more. SteamOS is a streamlined operating system of beauty especially with game scope! I knew windows was going to have crazy overhead smh. Hopefully valve decides to release one later this year or next but if they wait that will be even better next gen amd igpus should run 1080p native 60fps

    Interesting that if you’re playing the Deck at 720p/800p and Ally at 1080p the performance is pretty close if not
    Identical between them which isn’t bad at all. I know at 720p on the ROG performance is up significantly but I always prefer to run native personally so looking at this there isn’t the headroom for performance like one would have expected.

    • @JoeyClover

      ... wattage wasn't mentioned. Also, run at 720p and upscale to 1080p "native" if you want the boosts

    It’s obviously better than the Steam Deck, but is the Rog Ally better than the Ayaneo 2? I’m deciding on which one to get

      Ally is faster and cheaper than the Ayaneo. Build quality on the Aya is better
