  • I finally get the chance to sit down and chat about my latest batch of new foil wings from the legends at @AXIS Foils! Without getting too "sciency", we'll discuss the different series' of wings within the Axis line up, and what style of riding they are best suited to, which will hopefully help you decide what's the right foil setup for you.
    We're gonna be looking at the PNG 850 and 910, the BSC 740, 810 and 890, the HPS 650, 700, 830 and 880
    Feel free to leave a comment and don't forget to subscribe to my channel and share it with your fellow foil frothers!

    Great reviews. Too many reviews are useless because they just claim that every wing does everything for everyone. Appreciate you stating views of different wing for different situations and disciplines.
    Something i find much harder to reason about than wings is tail wings. To be honest i dont even really understand how a tail impacts riding . Would be awesome to get an in depth discussion and review on tail wings if you were ever up for it.

      Hey Matt! It’s sick to see an old skool kite legends name pop up 😎🤙 For prone foiling I’m using the Crazy Short fuse which is 603mm and for wingfoiling I prefer a little longer like the Ultra Short at 643mm or Short Fuse at 703mm.
      For tail wings I’m using the 400 for prone foiling and the 420 (winglets) for wingfoil. Those combos seem to work best for me 💪🏽🤙👌

    Hi, nice review, thanks. I was thinking to add a 2nd Axis wing to my PNG1150 for wing and SUP foil is it BSC970 too close for my 81 kg? I see advices are mainly on prone and wing. I would prefer keep same fuselage and I am not looking for speed. It should replace my 2nd foil a Takuma helium 1500 to reduce stuff amount. Thanks

  • @Tobeon2

    I am a low intermediate wing foiler (e. g. I can jibe nearly 100%, but cannot tack yet) with 75 kg (165 lbs) of weight and wing foiling in relatively light wind (8-12 knots) & flat water conditions
    I have used many different front foils of 2000 cm2 (Starboard S type, RRD Dynamic, Gaastra FR, etc) in the past few months. In the real beginning (e.g. you want to foil up and maintaining it), I do not think the aspect ratio makes that much difference as long as it is equal to especially when larger than 2000 cm2. One you can foil and start jibing, I strongly suggest PNG 1150 in light wind condition. When I first tried PNG 1150, I did not even know that it has more 10% smaller area 1778 cm2 compared to other 2000 cm2 wings mentioned above. It is so much easier to jibe since it glides so well.
    If someone wants to start Wing Foiling with the Axis foils, I would suggest to start with BSC 1120 to progress to PNG 1150.

    • @Tobeon2
      @Tobeon2 Před rokem

      @@apricotscrub The reason I recommended PNG 1150 after BSC 1120 is to enjoy the "glide" if the water is relatively flat.
      But, you are correct. Trying BSC 970 after BSC 1120 makes perfect sense especially in more wave area. 😉😎
      I recently got PNG 1010 with 420 rear after PNG 1150/460 rear set up. My area has a flat water and inconsistent, weak (8-13 knots), and gusty condition 😞

    Thanks for this detailed review. I'm a new foiler coming from shortboard surfing and looking at either the PNG 910 or BSC 890. • @LarryFoiler
      @LarryFoiler  Před 2 lety +1

      You’re welcome! 😎 The best way to look at this would be if you’re slightly more of a prone guy, go the 890. If you’re more interested in getting your downwinding happening then go with the PNG910. Another option would be to eventually plan for a multi wing quiver, which lets face it, EVERYONE has 😄 So you could learn/prone with the BSC890 then later as you start to get serious about going DW you can add a HPS or even ART999 wing for downwind epicness! 🤙💪🏽

I’m tempted to grab a HPS1050 for the light days (10-12 knots) or for using with a smaller wind wing. I’m just not sure it’s necessary or how much difference I’ll feel. Do you think the 1050 versus the 930 would enable me to drop 1m in wing size, for example?

    I'm looking for a little advice.... I'm a good surfer, but new to foiling. I'm usually pretty quick to pick these things up and I have access to a boat to speed up the early learning. My interest is in Prone Foiling. Medium to small weak waves. Basically looking for something to replace surfing in summer when the waves are small.
    I've narrowed it down to the BSC 810, BSC 890 and then the ART 1099. But can't decide between them... I can't really afford to make a mistake as it's a fair chunk of cash for me. Any "can't go wrong with" advise?

    I'm currently riding the BSC890 with 370 rear on ultra short fuse in the surf and wondering if the PNG910b is a better option for easier pumping back out, or do I need to go to red fuse with bigger wing? Or lose 10kgs to get more out of my current setup🤣🤣
