  • New olive wood handle for a cheap kitchen knife as a practise of handle making. This is my 4th handle so far. I still miss some important equipment for easy handle making.
I gave the knife to my sister.

That olive wood is pretty nice looking, and wow what a great way to get some practice on the cheap! I hope the steel is worthy of the time put into it, for a simple veggie chopper probably held up.
Give me my Natural Maple Burl any day of the week, put a nice brass bolster and rivets/pins on it and then I'm in love lol.

Thanks! Yes it's still in use! I love maple in combination with brass as well!

Woah this is DBK! I had no idea this was the same channel, such a different video. I've been looking for videos on replacing the handle for an old santoku in aogami super that I recently ordered. I love your channel, great to see your roots. You chose a nice peice of wood for that handle btw.

Given the materials you had to work with, I think you did a pretty good job.

Nice work - I've been thinking of replacing the handle on a knife or two, but realizing, yea - it takes a lot of time and expertise (and tools) - especially for the detail work. I see why so many of them are made of plastic!

How about a little safety and tape the blade before you slip with the screwdriver again. Made my stomach turn.

+Rhyannon Lallatin I agree. I always tape the edge nowadays. Cutting yourself learns you a lot hehe
