    Thanks for the great tutorial Caleb. I used the technique to make scales from some 3000 year old petrified bog oak. Took some effort as the wood was as hard as iron but also as black as coal! Buffed to gorgeous lustre and looks fantastic.

    Kike Tarifa D. Hey! Sorry I couldn't respond. For some reason it wont let me respond to linked comments. Found a work around:) Yes its boiled linseed oil! I use it to bring the color out though, not for polishing. Also the material im working with is g10 not micarta. G10 is a glass filled resin and micarta is paper, linen, cloth filled resin. Thanks for watching!!!

    There many ways to make handles! Horns, rocks, plastic, metal, wood ect ect 1 of the coolest ways is now. Taking plastic of all different colors and shave them to the shape you want and melt them into block to form handles. Can have any color you wish. Like blue and yellow ect.

    Have you tried Ultre-X G10 by Norplex? There's G10 and then there's Ultre-X G10 which I think is cotton or paper or both but I'm not sure because the knife making sites aren't specific. Thanks

    I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I have been watching a lot of CZcams videos on knife handle's. I think if you would have moved the chair out of the way and moved your camera on the other side of the vice it would have been much easier to see how you blended the scales.

    I just got a dremeli want to start modding my knives the budget knives first like make one of a kind scales I know you can do soooo much with a dremel my first success was sanding Dow a beed blast blade and got it to satin I was stoked that light the flame I’m not trying to go crazy custom I’m just bored of the same oh same scale and I don’t want to spend a lot of money anymore I’m sure you heard of Zach Stuff and his BM bugout projects there so awesome I bought 3 at separate time cuz the scales almost cost as much as the knife but I completed CF.TI. And just recently finished a micarta it broke me so I want to dye scales texture scales and make it my on I have several decent budget knives I came across your channel and was very impressed I want to learn to mod a doing clean. So I subbed you thanks for this video hopefully I can find more of your videos for inspiration thanks brother much props.

    • @WhiteBoneKnives
      @WhiteBoneKnives  Před 5 lety +1

      Not foolish at all! You can certainly do this with a file. Just might take a bit longer. I wouldn't use a file on g10 though since it's filled with glass. The file would dull rather quickly. I would stick with micarta if you were to use a file.
