In my opinion, Checo has a better chance of staying on the grid if he gets dropped during the summer break rather than after it, because some midfielders will take him for his ad money and his past overperforming in the midfield cars

For what it's worth, the guys at Autosport spoke to people at RBR and were told that Lawson has not only the work ethic and speed to race in that car, but the folks at RBR told them that he also has the mental makeup to be able to cope with racing Max. Obviously this is speculation, but it is coming from RBR and not for example Tactical Rab ( oh by the way you have caught him in subscriber number 👊🏻) , but Autosport is a respected outlet. RBR's problem is Checo's poor qualifying. So he's having to do recovery drives... If he could qualify Top 6 most races, and finish 3-6, the occasional runner up and win - RBR would be super happy.
This is my unpopular opinion, but give the seat to Bottas. At Merc, he has shown he follows team orders, performs consistently in that top 5/6, his driving style is adaptable, and would likely retire (after 2027, maybe 2026) when the time Lawson or another young driver would be ready for that seat.

    They won't.
Horner wanted to stage a hostile takeover of RB so he could get rich. He succeeded and everyone responsible for the teams success realised that because of the debt needed to purchase a controlling interest in RBR from the Thai's the team is now all about the $$$.
    See:
    >Newey leaving,
    >Max/Jos unhappy ness
    >Marko
    >Branding the fk out of Alpha Tauri
    >Keeping divers for marketability and merch sales, not on track performance.
    >Mass exodus of talent.
    >Gerri insta forgiving Horner's infidelity.
RB is cooked, but this was Horner's goal, now he has a controlling share he gets a larger % of the profits in his account even if the team itself are a shadow of what they used to be.

We saw this back in the day when Michael Schumacher won back to back with Benetton '94 '95, but when Berger and Alesi moved to Benetton the following year they could hardly keep that car on the track under MSC set up. They had to pull back the set up to make it driveable (and slower) for mere mortals. Not their fault, just not able to do what MSC could.

Red Bull's problems will become more obvious because of Newey's departure. They may still be the champion this year (if it is extreme enough, the driver's championship may also be threatened). McLaren still poses a threat (Red Bull may lose the team championship). In the past races, Max cannot guarantee pole position in every race. In the face of tire failure competition, Max's greater tire wear exists. Because the current development progress is almost the same. Because this single concept has been used for more than two years. The place that can be explored has reached the limit. Despite the obstruction of the development ceiling, the iteration progress has reached an almost identical point. Because it has been found that ground clearance has a great impact on the performance of the car. As for the position of Red Bull's second driver, no matter who is used as a scapegoat, it is not the best choice. There is just a punching bag position. This aerodynamics itself is not complicated. It's just that there are not many downforce points that can be found. Red Bull's lack of team operation has always existed. From the Vettel and Mark Webber period. Verstappen Ricciardo period, Verstappen and Alben Gasly period. And now Verstappen Perez period. There has always been a lack of cooperation from the second driver. The second driver is always caught up in team competition or kicked out, which is closely related to the problems of Red Bull's extreme management.

So, as someone who is capable of putting down top 1% times in iRacing, I can speak to the differences in Checo and Max getting the car to do something different.
It's not just driving style. Sure everyone has a preferred style. But you have to be ADAPTABLE. Checo is not being adaptable. Instead of driving to what the car likes, Checo is trying to make the car do what he wants.
That is NOT how to be fast. That's what makes Max, Senna, Schumacher and those like them so great - they drive to the car, not making the car drive to them.
I say this because I was like Checo until March of this year. I went from around the top 5% times to inside top 1% when I focused on figuring out what the car likes. Once I do that, I adapt to that and suddenly, times plummet.
He needs to do this, and quick. Or he'll be out of RB.

I completely disagree about Max in the other cars. You have to bear in mind since late 2018 that Red Bull has been totally and utterly moulded around Max and only Max. Verstappen is as crushing as he is in that RB because the team and car is wrapped around him, like no other driver team combo in history. Which is why none of his post Ricciardo teammates could ever perform close to him. Plonk Max in the McLaren I don’t see him doing much better than Lando or Oscar in the MCL38 or much better in the W15 than Hamilton or Russell. This isn’t a bash on max at all, but he likes a very specific car type and struggles when he doesn’t get it, think back to early 2023 when the RB19 had understeer characteristics.

A good reason for them to put Ricciardo in IF they decide to boot perez is car setup , with Ric having a similar driving style to Verstappen, they will be able to make the best of practice sessions (of which they've been struggling of late, putting them further on the back foot) . Disregarding how he performs in the second seat , I would expect this to ensure Verstappen at least seals the drivers championship .
Looking further ahead , I don't think Sainz is the answer to be honest , his preferred driving style is more similar to Perez than Verstappen . If Ric can't be within the perameters set for Perez (for 25) , and Tsunoda doesn't work out (or he's planning on following honda) , Piastri would be my aim 👍

Then wtf is the point of dropping Checo then if they can't secure the constructors as well... DR hasn't shown any form of consistency what makes you think he's capable of performing alongside Max even if their driving styles are similar.

    • @andrewntoth1
      @andrewntoth1 Před měsícem

@ZOMBIE2LIFE did I write anything about whether they should or not? , did I say anything about constructors or where Ric would be? 🤷‍♂️ . Simple point was they won't have to set up the two cars seperately ...

Sergio has access to Max's setup and telemetry. F1 drivers have a history of driving many different F cars that require drivers to adjust to the car. Sergio has no excuse. RBR should drop Sergio and sign Carlos to 2 or 3 years with conditions on the contract if he does not perform which rumors are that Sergio has. If not Carlos, then Yuki might be better than Daniel. It is still Max to lose in Hungary and I think Haas is better than your bottom 3 with the upgrade package showing potential in the last race.

i disagree when you say anyone other than max wont win the last few races. First of all compared to the divers in mclaren, merceddes and ferrari, max has the best strategist, pit crew, race engineer and a shit 2nd driver. this is very important when teams are close in perfomance. max doesnt look alien anymore and he had good chance of loosing the races he won recently if redbull operation were like mclaren Redbull is still the joint fastest with mclaren. only thing that is different is redbull is no longer dominant like the first 5 races.

I don't get the big hype about this, Red Bull still arguably have the fastest or 2nd fastest car on the grid. Them and mclaren are withing less than 1/10th of each other, mercedes are still behind despite their silverstone win, but have big upgrades coming. The top 3 are within a tenth and half as of the last few gps, but red bull have still got the most aero efficient car. Mclaren and mercedes are better over the bumpier tracks, and are getting there with the drs aswel. Everyone acting like red bull are in crisis, the only crisis red bull have is with perez and Jos.
