- Welcome to 4K Motoring!
Today we are doing some minor damage control with a problem you may have encountered yourself! Artillery Fungus appears when parking near vegetation, and shows up as small raised black spots on your paint. Easy to remove if noticed quickly, the fungus is known to embed itself into your paint and cause permanent damage if left unchecked! With a little bit of effort, this is how we clean off our paint and seal it to protect it in the future.

Nice work .. I’ve come across that are artillery fungus as well. Nasty stuff hard to get off.👍
I used clay on my pearl white Tesla and it did not take the fungus off, or more precisely it would take the hard black dot off but the adhesive that it uses to attach itself left a brownish spot underneath that the clay did not remove. I mostly used my fingernail to get them with the clay lubricant. I then used Hydroslick just as you did and it looks beautiful. On my other car, a white Subaru, the problem is much worse since that is the one usually parked next to the garden with the mulch. I used white vinegar on that and my fingernail to get it off, but there is a lot of it. So far though nothing works without using something to scrape. I only did the front hood on the Subaru and came looking on the internet to find an easier way. So far I'm striking out.
Does the HydroSlick stop the fungus from sticking? It's winter here and it'll be awhile before I find out myself.
The hydroslick has made it much easier to remove and repeat occurrences, to the point a pressure washer is about all I need. I find it needs to be reapplied roughly every 6 months to maintain this level of resistance. Hope that helps! The stuff is tough
If you have access to a steam cleaner.... That in combination with a magic eraser is the ticket. It takes time and elbow greese but it will remove ALL of the spots. The key then is parking elsewhere and or cleaning more often. Take care.
@@copierdude78I was gonna try a magic eraser but didn’t think it’d be good on the clear. You didn’t have issues with it messing it up?
@@Zippy1776 Nope. Worked great once loosened up with steam. Still work, but that stuffs nasty. I'll defiantly be parking somewhere else.
Off subject. Hey 4k an indepth video for the titan tow mirrors connected to the running lights would be great.. there's a kit but would for you to do it. Thanks
I've seen a few people post about this mod and it's something I'll definitely consider checking out!
@@4KMotoring please do and thanks!
I think some chemical guys products are good I think some are identical to their other products just dyed a different color
For sure. Some of it is awesome, some is overpriced snake oil
Does it explode like artillery
Apparently it does from the plant, it looks like a shotgun birdshot pattern all over the car
Yes, it will go as high high as 20 feet!
My boss needs some paint correction
Bring it over!
@@4KMotoring you can do it?
@@4KMotoring I've always dabbled with the soft pads, I need to learn so I can knock it out myself
Yeah, I've been playing around with it for a while and have the basics pretty well figured out
It always comes back, I think bleach may be the ticket
