- This is finally it, the huge project I've been working on for nearly 4 months that I'd kept a secret for so long. Many factors went in to why it took so long to finish such as how much footage there was to be edited, procrastination, work, etc. Could've maybe been done sooner but finally though it's all done. All the footage has been recorded with over 150 clips in total, all the editing is done, it's absolutely perfect as I said it was going to be. This over 3 hour marathon basically shows the custom top speed setups I've made for every car in the game (regular, special, and custom) to help gain a crucial edge in races to even the playing field where very long stretches of straightaway are present like Tokyo's Wangan or Nagoya's Higashimeihan. Places where racers like Red Devil, Jintei, and The 3 Dragons normally destroy players with their sheer speed. Keep in mind these are best suited for fully maxed out cars so these won't work as well with cars tuned to a lesser extent. On the other hand, if you have an engine swap for a particular car, you may be able to go faster than what I got with said car here as these are all for fully maxed cars with no engine swap.
All cars here were tested on Tokyo's "Wangan In" route which is easily the best place to find a car's top speed on here, I put lots of work into the setups for each car so they're all top quality. All cars top speeds have been improved to atleast some degree, some in particular a lot. It's important to say though because I can't possibly stress this enough. These setups will only be effective in places like Tokyo's Wangan or Nagoya's Higashimeihan where top speed comes first and handling can be "somewhat" of an afterthought. These are all full blown custom top speed setups made solely for that purpose only so if you try these in other environments, especially in very curvy places like Tokyo's C1 loop, you're gonna have a lot of trouble with them as they're not made for these areas. Weird I was playing zero when I was 11 back in 01 last time I gave it a whirl with an emulator was back in 2013 this and gran turismo 1 some of the best racing games. Every racing game I try to play nowadays tries to give me a tutorial on how to play a racing game even tho I’ve been playing games since I was 4 so I get bored and uninstall

The FD has the highest power to weight ratio in the game because we don't know how much the Ford GT weighs. Definitely one of the best cars of the game.

Although, I also have to say that I never played TXR3 but I did play TXR Zero and got to go as fast as 303 MPH but the the game stats only read upto 297 don’t know why, anyways, it was lots of fun!
The highest achievable speed is capped at 263 MPH. Just like how the limit on here is 230. There’s no way to go faster unless you can find a way to hack it & remove the limiter. I think some game stats like max speed can get way messed up sometimes because I think mine’s way off to.

This must've taken a great deal of time, amazing work! Though I can get the Impreza's (GDB) max speed past 218 until the governor/ redlne kicks in at 224mph, kinda funny.

Something TXR did that I wish more driving focused games did was the ability to use blinkers and hazards. It's small and useless but I played with them all the time :)
They aren't useless, you can use them to tell your rival(s) which junction you want to go to.

So I play the game on PC with an emulator. And I've hacked it so I automatically have the mileage high enough to do swaps and infinite money. I've tried every swap on every car in the game and the results will probably surprise you. Fastest car in the game is a Suzuki Cappuccino with the turbo rotary. And when I say fastest. I mean all around fastest. Fastest acceleration. Highest top speed and insane corner speed. It will do a rolling burnout from like 40mph to 190mph like some of the rival cars do and pull hard to 230mph and stay there. It is also twitchy and the handling is like a go kart. If you can master that the car is an absolute rocket.
One of the best handling if not the best handling car is the FD RX7 with the turbo rotary swap. Loads of grips.
The Gemballa GTR 750 911 is also extremely fast and great handling but cant be upgraded. I think its 750hp stock.
The Ford GT with a Turbo L6 motor is extremely fast but very little grip for some reason. The car slides around like crazy. If you think the stock motor is fast try the the L6 turbo motor.
Also I believe the Ford GTs weight wasnt listed because it was still a concept car at the time. The weight in real life is 1580kg. Kinda heavy honestly.
Also I cant overlook the work you put into this. Great job man. This almost inspires me to do the same video but with engine swaps.
Well I don’t have an emulator so no surprise I can’t hack my way to finding that stuff out like I wish I could. Tbh I’m not at all surprised that the Cappuccino would be the fastest. I mean Team Ratt’s leader had an engine swap & remember how fast he was? Not surprised either about the RX-7 since I’ve seen what it’s like courtesy of NailStrafer’s finale walkthrough video like I’m sure a lot of us have. And again not surprised about the Ford GT since it’s the fastest in the game to begin with already top speed wise. Little grip of course due to lots of power with little weight which is why I don’t like using it anywhere other than the Wangan really unless you beef it up with reinforcements, stronger brakes & just more weight in general.

Well I don’t have an emulator so I don’t have a choice. It’s either on console or not at all & with making CZcams videos being my main passion these last 9 years, being limited to console isn’t gonna stop me. I can’t work PC’s for crap anyway though, not any better than your average Joe could anyway. I wouldn’t be able to work an emulator plus my PC isn’t all that great to be able to cope with the performance demands from an emulator.
Yep, all 4 of the special cars are real. West No. 5 is my favorite of the four. It just looks so menacing. There's a video of the car doing a parking lot autocross somewhere online. I also suspect that having to race Nobuteru Taniguchi's S15 with a stock vehicle is because the S15 is a drift car. I also like his S13 and S14 he built as well. MCR's Shinichi Kobayashi was featured in the street racing video in TXR Zero with the 630 hp R33 GTR. I'm sure everyone knows the Supra Manabu Orido owns. He is known well for crashing into guard rails lol!

I’m a big fan of this game! I have this game for both platforms PlayStation and Dreamcast! I remember if you upgrade the turbo and you press select button you activate the turbo boost but the water and oil temp increase. You can change cluster color, taillights and headlights colors, roll bars, exhaust etc! This game was way ahead for the time! I’m 37 years old now and still my favorite car game and I’m still playing!

Also "Jintei" is just Speed King's name in japanese, it means the same thing. I think it sounds cooler untranslated like that myself though to be honest. "Speed King" or as he is known in ITC "King Speed" just sounds too damn corny for me lol.
That crazy. When we battled in this game. The RX-7 & The ford GT were definetly not the fastest cars in terms of winning H2H battles.

Yeah those factors make alot of sense. I remember in fast and furious Tokyo drift I engine swapped the ae86 I think, and made it as light as possible. And my top speed was like 260+. It was crazy 😂
the Suzuki Capuccino, is argubly a beast, once unlock the engine exchange. Use a Turbocharged Rotary Engine, gives a whopping 435 ps from its default tuned engine, coming at 149 ps. For weight, it increases like +10 kg, but is not a big deal. I was messing with the gears, unfortunately, I forgot my settings, but it does a respectable 211mph! 😮
I actually used the C5's gear ratio settings on my Lingenfelter C5 in Forza motorsport 2! It worked out well tbh. The same can go for the viper. I used those settings on the standard viper and Hennessy viper.
Here is info about Lotus Turbo Esprit(82TE): 472 PS, 46.0 KGM of torque, 2174 cc and 1000 kg at full mods(9 lvl engine, 5lvls of muffler+exhaust and full weight reduction)
Speed is a 333 kph without transmission settings
1st - 2.290
2nd - 1.940
3rd -1.320
4th - 0.976
5th - 0.760
Final - 4.350
And yeah, no 6th gear at all

The one thing about TXR3 I really wish they did. Was to go as fast as you did in TXR0. I still played the hell out of both of these games taking life to beat 100% back in the day with no internet and having to learn this shit through trial and error haha

I ended up getting the engine swap for the pulsar and went with the L6 Turbo. If u had to guess, what would be the last gear?
Basically the secret for all cars is to set the gears so that right as you stop accelerating & reach top speed that your right at the cars peak power rpm where it says (insert 2-3 numbers here) HP at (insert 4 numbers here) RPM. Look it up and just keep messing with the gears till your RPM is where it needs to be. The same logic applies to other racing games too.

I know this is a year late comment but, it's actually the other way around. The #400's (unknown's) car was based off the Devil Z from Wangan Midnight (the manga was first serialized in 1990).
There's also a cool theory (most people already accept it as facts though) that Devil Z was based of a real life car tuned by Hosoki Masaru for a Mid Night Racing Team member, the car is known nowadays as the Air Breathing Research (ABR) Hosoki S130Z (a 280ZX).
The (apparently) rival of this car is the Yoshida Special Porsche 930, that also seems to be the inspiration for Blackbird in Wangan Midnight and #361 ZERO in TXR0.
Oh well, too late to change it now. I knew it was one way or the other. I'm not as much of a Wangan Midnight fan as I am a TXR fan which is probably to blame for the error.

I'm kind of getting into those 80s to early 2000s Japanese car tuner scene recently. Starting from Toumei Expressway racers, the Yatabe Top Speed Trials, and of course Shuto Expressway racers (the one TXR as a whole is based off of).

It seems that you just need to have beaten any of the zones for him to show up. I had completed Tokyo prior to hopping into Nagoya, and I eventually found him. Considering the information the game gives you, and how often sites say that you can only have wanderers left, you can imagine my surprise!
I discovered that too during my walkthrough a couple years later. Because I did the same thing, conquering Tokyo first after reaching stage 2 before moving on to Nagoya next.

@@MrKoala-kv5qd Despite what guides say, i went NA V8 and then turbo V8 (Slightly more power from the turbo V8, but more weight). The power and weight differences between them and the NA I6 and Turbo are largely negligible, although the V8 is a 5 speed and the I6 is a 6 speed. Also the novelty of having a V8 Piazza is fantastic lmao.
The Piazza is just such a lightweight car that every swap has some premise, unlike most of the cars ingame that either benefit purely from the increase in power, or an increased number of gears. You may just be better off saving, tuning and trying each of them to see what works best for you!
Even the I4 NA and I4 turbo with their insane peak power (IIRC their peak power is right at the redline, some 10000rpm with a 6 speed)) and reduced weight compared to everything but the RE swap gives them some merit because the car is already very light, and the Piazza has a decent tire width so its actually pretty compliant regardless of how much power you push through it.
This video puts the Piazza right at 200mph with the 5 speed (granted these are all-or-nothing tunes that sacrifice some acceleration for outright top end speed), and all the engine swaps have higher HP than full tune stock IIRC, so you can really just double down on what works best for you. V8 Piazza will always be right in my heart though.

Insane video. Also do you know how to tune in Tokyo Xtreme Racer 0? I have the fully upgraded White Charisma car and when I get in a battle, my car skips 2nd goes into 3rd and then back into 2nd. Its really annoying.
Start using Manual transmission if you haven’t already, that would be the simpler way cause mine did that too till I made the switch. Otherwise just lengthen 2nd gear enough to the point where it stops doing that.

For the R32, is the 210+MPH top speed only when you have level 6 engine or do I need engine swap??
Only car I tested in the video with an engine swap was the Chaser, it’s the only car I’ve ever gotten the miles for it on. The rest are just fully tuned minus the swap.
so every car you tuned the suspension is at its lowest?? it makes for harder control while going up against other rivals though
Apart from ride height, the rest of the suspension related stuff is basically down to preference. The rest of the settings didn’t seem to affect the speed as far as I’ve noticed. Not everyone has the same style when it comes to driving so just do as you wish. I only did the same thing for every car cause this project took nearly 4 months. Having a different suspension setup on every car would’ve probably doubled it. Plus I’m not exactly the most knowledgeable person in that area. Having soft suspension to absorb the bumps in the road, especially when your going 220+ MPH, is a good thing to have though which was my goal there.
Oh for future reference. Dodge viper v-10 are notorious for not having any real top end power. Unless you get the GTR which was tuned for pro racing so it can reach those speeds. But every other viper ever made is not going to do well in high end top speed. They only excel in mid range speed and acceleration

Hey, should I buy the Mazda RX-7 in Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero? It is my favourite car of all time.
It’s pretty fast but you’d have a tough time against the final boss with it. If you get White Charisma’s or Midnight Cinderella’s custom models though, you’ll be alright.

I tried racing rival Meteor Storm from team Miyabi, and he smoked me in the same Gemballa GTR500. Do rivals have better ratios, or are they just enhanced in the game to be faster even though the Gemballa GTR500 can't be modded any further? I want to try to get that acceleration.
They probably are enhanced to an extent. I mean they have visual customizations like paint & rims which we can’t otherwise do, especially with that Gemballa you just mentioned.
@@MrSmashboy28 Yeah, now I believe they're enhanced. I raced a GTR500 with my GTR750, and that car was ahead up until 200 mph...that wouldn't be possible with a stock car....
@@cdman7976 they probably have upgraded parts as iirc if you use a cheat engine and unlock the car tuning section, both the GTR500 and 750 have unused upgrade parts.
Nope they have a special boost that runs for 5 seconds or until they slow down for a corner or something. It applies to bosses and crew leaders + some wanderers. It also kicks in as a form of rubber banding for any rival that falls too far behind. That’s why rivals that drive cars with absurdly long gearing like the Nissan Cima can be outrageously difficult or annoying depending on what stage you’re at and where on the map you’re racing.
If your car gets stuck while the count down timer is running the game sometimes gives you the boost. I had an AE86 with the first upgrades you can put on a car banging off the limiter at 140ish and hawking down the crew leader I was racing, pretty funny tbh

I’ve noticed the boost gets randomly applied to drivers that aren’t supposed to have it. I’m not sure if it’s a glitch or based on where the race starts but I’ve seen rolling guys take off like rockets and leave me standing with a distinct sense feeling the AI is a total cheater and doesn’t even play by it’s own rules

This video is helpful. But I barely get any speed at the 6th gear in my skyline r34. Everything is maxed, except body tune, aero parts are colored carbon, and it's at 1477 kg. I looked at the gear setup and I did exactly what you did with it. Am I doing something wrong
Some cars you just won’t gain much with. Natural carbon would help a little more since it’s a little lighter than colored. But the R34’s gearing was already pretty good to begin with.
@@MrSmashboy28 I see. I beat the entire game anyway, and I'm doing the wanderer battles. But some of them are just complicated to do. Also, I bought the gemballa gtr750, and it handles better than the gt40. Basically, the ford gt slides a lot when I turn it.
Cause it’s an MR and probably very light. The GTR 750 is RR, both Gemballa’s are fantastic in the handling department.

Battle speed is just your average speed. Do more races in straight areas where you can keep your foot on the gas to raise it.

Tbh if you can just lure bosses into racing you in places where they’ll absolutely struggle then anything can become much more doable even with a weaker car. I did that in my playthrough a couple years later. Lured J and the 3 dragons to Kanjou and from there they were a cakewalk.
@@MrSmashboy28 truth be told, my lack of sleep the night before must have made me an idiot cause I ended up beating them on the outer highway away from Kanjou starting the first race around Jimokuji area on East Higas. right after the toll booth. I must be a masochist now reading that back.

There is now a patch version of this game, released early this year for the US version, now the homebrew community, has fixed the wanderers money requirements!
Exotic Butterfly: now requires 200,000 Cr. and the WIND STARS decal stamped in your current car.
Wirlwind Fanfare: now requires 1,000,000 Cr. to race against.
You can play it in emulation, but I prefer to burn a backup DVD, as my PC gear, doesn't have enough juice, to handle it...

The one I just linked you too has “82V8” for its chassis code. The other one you’re talking about, the 82TE isn’t in the video at all as I’ve already mentioned in several comments now due to Exotic Butterfly with his stupid 20 mil CP requirement being the only person in the game that drives that car.

Depends with or without an engine swap. Ford GT’s the fastest without one no question. With one I have no idea as the Chaser is the only car I’ve ever gotten the mileage needed for an engine swap for. And it definitely isn’t the fastest.

No I didn’t, it starts at 2:28:34. Only car I forgot was the Lotus Turbo Esprit which I didn’t even know was in the game until after finishing the video as it’s Exotic Butterfly’s car along with his stupid $20 million requirement thus I don’t have it unlocked & probably never will.

The FD has close to as much power as the Supra & R34 while also weighing several hundred kilos less so it makes sense honestly.

You didn't state it, but the Death Driver also has an effect where if you drive with the traffic on, the traffic cars will be all white and there will be ghosts of passengers inside those traffic cars.
Cause I didn’t know that at the time. I did a video on that earlier this year.
