Rock Platforms at Beautiful Sombrero Key Beach in Marathon, Florida - Visit The Florida Keys

Sombrero Beach is one of the best beaches in the Keys and offers all the amenities for a full day of family fun! It's a popular beach for both tourists and locals. The beach itself shows a range of sediment from fine carbonate sand to gravel. Pleistocene limestone bedrock is exposed as a rock platform which makes it exciting to explore, the kids loved it! The weather conditions were not ideal for us, but I can see that on a clear day with good visibilty the edge of the rocks would be fun to snorkel. Although if you really want to snorkel you should take a charter out to the stunning Sombrero Beach Reef that is just thriving with sealife.
Shady picnic areas, white sand, playground, bbq areas and clean public restrooms make it very easy to enjoy the full day there.
