  • As I continue to dive deeper into tactical elements in checkers, I wanted to highlight one of my personal favorites: The Brooklyn. It can be difficult to see during games, regardless of your skill level. It is subtle and deceptive, and it can take a lot of practice to learn. Once you have mastered this tactic, it will become an invaluable tool to use in your games.

    Side Note : I played face to face with one of my friends a few days ago using as a base one of your older videos and indeed win 2/2 . Thanks for all the help

    Good Vedio, Agree about your comments that it is overlooked usually as it is hidden shot and time taking to get fimiliar with.
    Enjoy your insight to the game. Keep up the good work. :)

    If you should buy one book about checkers, which one would be? Thank you

    • @azcheckers
      @azcheckers  Před 3 lety

      You are very welcome! This is a great question, as there are many different books covering many different aspects in checkers. The first book I always recommend is Lees' Guide, as this book helps lay the foundation of standard opening play. For players that have a couple years or more experience, I recommend Kear's and Basic Checkers.
      I also recommend anything by Richard Pask, and you can view some of his work here: www.bobnewell.net/checkers/paskpdf.html

    • @azcheckers
      @azcheckers  Před 3 lety +1

      @@enricodurso9282 When I play online, it's typically on playok.com. I also recently checked out flyordie.com, as people have been requesting I try that website out for a while. Both sites are good, but playok.com seems more geared toward the serious player. I don't play on any mobile apps at the moment, but I'm looking to change that soon as people have been recommending I check some of them out. Hope that helps!

    • @azcheckers
      @azcheckers  Před 4 lety

      Yes, the single corner is one of the most popular openings in all of checkers. It's also one of the most balanced, which is probably the reason for its popularity! I do go over one variation in a previous video, but it's certainty worth exploring more. Thanks for your comment!

      You can win here for red?! This is a classic Lees' Guide draw. Red does not have the timing for first position. The game should be a draw, but would like to hear how you might approach red's next move!
