    This video contains personal ingame highlights and icarus gameplay on how to play hms icarus one of the first british dds world of warships. This video summaries tactics and strategy how to play icarus but also how to play british destroyers. The new additions of british destroyer wows include the Acasta, Icarus, Jervis, Lighting and Cossack with the full wows british destroyer line coming soon and being available to all. The british destroyer line will add a new dynamic to the game world of warships and in particular destroyer gameplay. The british destroyer line wows contains the following pros and cons.
    With the new addition of british destroyers world of warships, HMS Icarus at tier 6 was one of nine I-class destroyers built for the Royal Navy during the 1930s. Part of the last series I-class of the standard destroyers of the British Navy.
    As an I-class destroyer, Hms Icarus wows was one of the ships of the ultimate class of Interwar Standard destroyer begun by the A-class of Acasta and her ilk in the late 1920’s. The design progression of icarus world of warships is relatively minor.
    Hms Icarus was commissioned in 1937. Icarus had brief service before Britain entered WWII in September 1939. When world war 2 broke out she was deployed to British waters and where on escort and patrol missions she contributed to sinking the U-35 and U-45. In early 1940 she was converted to the minelayer role and from March 1940 to April 1941 she participated in laying about 30 minefields while escorting many others in locations as far apart as Vestfjord, Norway and off Brest, France up to 60 mines at a time that could be up to 1,800 mines.
    Resulting sinkings if any are unknown from Icarus destroyer but her sistership on one sortie is credited with sinking German destroyer Max Schultz.
    British destroyer Icarus was one of the ships sailing to mine Norwegian waters when Germany invaded and was being covered by battlecruiser Renown, which fought a brief and inconclusive action with the German Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. While in Norway she captured or sank two German merchantmen and also participated in the Second Battle of Narvik as a minesweeping
    escort for HMS Warspite, though she doesn’t seem to have been heavily engaged.
    In May-June of 1940 the Icarus was one of the best performing destroyers during Operation Dynamo. In six trips she extracted 4,396 troops, equivalent to a Brigade of infantry and not bad for a ship with a complement of 145. In exchange she received minor damage. After re-converting to a destroyer role Icarus participated in the hunt for the Bismarck and was one of the destroyers left behind by the Hood and Prince of Wales before the Battle of the Denmark Strait. Through 1941 into 1942 she operated on convoy escort including some of the first Arctic Convoys to Russia. Icarus wows at tier 6 can also partake in the ingame mission Operation Dynamo.
    After all the minelaying and action from Norway to Russia to France Icarus was diverted to take part in the critical Harpoon and Pedestal convoys to Malta, before returning to
    Home Fleet escort work around Britain. In Mid-1943 in common with many of the Interwar Standard type destroyers she was converted to a dedicated convoy escort,
    losing two of her guns in exchange for a Hedgehog anti-submarine mortar and other ASW equipment. From then until the end of the war she worked as a convoy escort and helped account for two more U-boats, U-744 and U-1199.hms icarus, hms icarus wows, icarus world of warships, icarus destroyer, british destroyers world of warships, british destroyer, how to play hms icarus, how to play icarus,how to play british destroyers, icarus wows, british destroyer wows, wows british destroyer line, british destroyer line, british destroyer line wows, world of warships british destroyer line, how to icarus, british tier 6 destroyer.
    Icarus was a lucky ship. Of 11 I-class ships she was one of three survivors at wars’ end. She provided good service with contributions to 4 U-boat sinkings, saving 4,396 soldiers,
    adding a significant portion of RN minelaying, many convoy escorts and earning 10 deserved Battle Honors. She was scrapped in 1946.
    The ships of this wows british dd line class were the basis for transition from quadruple to quintuple torpedo tubes.
    Has access to the Hydroacoustic Search consumable which while active, detects all enemy ships and torpedoes within the specified radius of 3km with basic skills regardless of obstacles such as smoke screens or islands.
    The ship can accelerate quicker than most other destroyers. Has the ability to launch individual torpedoes. Low surface detection range of 6Km with max skills and camoflage at Tier VI.

    Hey everyone, I was lucky enough to get a mission to open the Hms Icarus, the new tier 6 british dd from a reward crate in the current British Destroyer event currently in its 2nd week in world of warships. I've played about a dozen games so far and I have to admit it really feels quite strong so far. I hope you all enjoy the video and let me know what you think. o7

      Thank you Ulf, I'm glad I could help. I do hope to cover all the destroyer lines but I hope you understand it's going to take time. The German DD line is particularly difficult and I've only recently got the Z-52 myself.

      @@CarbineCarlito Agree with the German DD line. It's rough and not as good as the English DD line i think. Stuck at Gaede but are instead going the Pan Asian DD line. Much more fun and i am at Gadjah Mada now wich is a lot fun to play.

    I really enjoy the grind so far and have gotten to the Icarus. In many ways, I am enjoying this line more than the German or US DD's. Keep them coming! I am also a convert to the UK cruisers. The Leander and Fiji are keepers. I am grinding up to the Minotar. Both lines fit my play style well.
    Keep up the good work!

    Good tips for Icarus. I seem to struggle. I'm on Xbox though, so some of your gameplay can't be crossed over for WOW Legends. In search of Icarus videos, I came across yours.
    If nothing else I've learned, I like the cross Torp pattern... I've done the same thing at times, but I usually do so in 4 Torps one direction, and 4 more coming back the other, and although it would eventually have the same effect, I think still leaves room for escape.
    If I can learn to adapt the 1/1 cross pattern you showed instead of the 4/4 cross I've been doing, I think I can finally get the hang of it.
    On Xbox, Icarus seems very fragile. I can't seem to last long in any gunfight vs DDs...
    Maybe some of your gunning techniques may be useful as well, if I can learn your patterns.

    • @CarbineCarlito
      @CarbineCarlito  Před 5 lety

      Yes Krazykal, It took me ages to get one its just down to pure luck at the moment with a small random chance of getting a mission to unlock one of the ships. I know of one person who opened over 40 crates and got none so its pure luck at the moment until the line is released fully. I think the line is coming very soon though.

    I made your final mistake on one occasion but was lucky enough to get away with it and kill the last CV. You should have asked the CV to keep his empty bombers locally for spotting.

    • @CarbineCarlito
      @CarbineCarlito  Před 5 lety +1

      My mistake at the end was not capping the final point and closing on the cv at the same time. Another lesson learned the hard way😉

    • @Ensign_Cthulhu
      @Ensign_Cthulhu Před 5 lety

      @@CarbineCarlito I had the choice of Cap or CV, but they had two caps running and I wasn't certain that stopping one of them would be enough. The kill seemed safer, but the ability of bots to magically dodge torpedoes and the inability of the Emerald to set things on fire at long range means that it was literally a last-second victory. I could have let the CV go, and if I'd already been in the first cap when it was spotted, I would not have turned back after it.

    You must have different version to me because my ship is rubbish, its not a torp boat and its not a gun boat because its guns are really weak 120mm i think it is... WG seems to be going out of its way to make British ships lacking

    • @CarbineCarlito
      @CarbineCarlito  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Mike, The version I have is the same as yours trust me. When I'm experiencing difficulty with a ship, I sit down and examine my replays and invariably the fault is my own. I stop trying to hammer round pegs into square holes, try and recognise what the ship does well and the attempt to let it shine in that role. These ships are great and a lot of fun dont give up on them! If you have questions feel free to ask!

    • @mystikmind2005
      @mystikmind2005 Před 5 lety

      I have to admit that it is not a good destroyer.
      1) What gets me constantly killed in this ship is the missing engine upgrade, and the missing engine boost.... It may be maneuverable, but that aint worth squat if you are stuck waiting for the ship to slowly get moving and torps are incoming.... sorry, your DEAD. That's why this DD SUCKS.
      2) The smoke - its short duration is not the main problem, its short deployment IS!.... If your at full speed and deploy smoke and hit the brakes, you are going to overrun it, this really really really SUCKS! You have to start slowing down 'before' you deploy the smoke which makes you an easier target before the smoke is deployed. Either way you feel like a Nun wearing a mini skirt with this stupid smoke.

      @@mystikmind2005 You have identified some of your weaknesses in the Icarus, try adjusting your tactics to compensate and you will find your results getting better and better. Knowing your weaknesses is half the battle. Mastering the Icarus will give you a solid foundation for the improvements to come from tier 7 onwards. The Jervis is a really strong ship with more of the same guns and torps so your patience will be rewarded.
