    Hi and welcome once again everyone to my how to play series featuring the wows tier 5 british destroyer Hms Acasta. This world of warships Acasta guide contains all my own personal hms Acasta gameplay highlights including wows acasta modules, full world of warships acasta build with captain skills including my own thoughts and strategy on how to play the hms Acasta in world of warships.
    Hms Acasta holds a unique place in history being involved in the first loss of a british aircraft carrier in combat. In June 1940 Ardent and Acasta were escorting Hms Glorious back to Scapa Flow on 8 June. En route, the three ships were spotted by Scharnhorst and Gneisenau at 15:46, which changed course to investigate. They were not spotted by the British until shortly after 16:00 and Ardent was ordered to identify the German ships while the other ships remained on course. She turned back to rejoin them before the Germans opened fire at 16:27 and was engaged by the 15-centimetre (5.9 in) secondary armament, mostly by Scharnhorst, while both ships fired at Glorious with their main batteries. Acasta remained with the carrier and began making smoke after the Germans opened fire, even opening fire herself although her guns lacked the range to reach the battleships. The destroyer was struck not long after she began laying smoke, but it had little effect. After the carrier was hit multiple times and starting to list, Acasta left her and closed with the battleships to shorten the range for a torpedo attack. Now more visible to the battleships, she began to be hit more regularly. The first attack was unsuccessful, but one torpedo from the second attack blew a massive 12meter gash in Scharnhorst's hull at 17:34. Acasta was then reduced to a blazing wreck and her captain ordered her crew to abandon ship. One of the gun crews delayed long enough to fire a shot that struck one of the Scharnhorst's main guns, but inflicted nothing more than shrapnel damage. The destroyer sank stern first around 18:20. Most of her crew died from exposure before the Norwegian merchant ship SS Borgund rescued two survivors from Acasta three days later, along with 36 men from Glorious.

    Acasta is unique among her peers due to her lack of the Engine Boost in exchange for super acceleration. This makes it much easier to quickly react to and evade slow incoming torpedoes that have been detected at proximity detection distance. However, this is only possible if the ship is already in forward motion or stationary, as the acceleration from reversing to forwards is, much like the cruisers of the same nation, painfully slow. Another attribute which Acasta also lacks is a buffer range for using torpedoes; that is, her maximum possible concealment is the same as her torpedo effective range (6.0km). Players will have to utilize the enemy ships' path and forward momentum to stay hidden while launching their torpedoes undetected. And the power of Acasta’s ability to single-fire torpedoes thus comes into play; any enemy ship heading straight in a line can and will be struck by the salvo of all eight of her torpedoes, which generally results in a devastating strike.
    While Acasta at a first glance seems as one of the weakest destroyers of tier V, her acceleration, concealment, and ability to single-fire torpedoes are her other strengths that players can utilize, although it is difficult to do so. She requires a different mindset and approach to use effectively. And above all else, players should avoid Podvoisky as much as possible, as Podvoisky can be considered her worst enemy due to the speed difference.
    Extra care should also be taken engaging destroyers at higher tiers due to the concealment disadvantage.
    I had a lot of fun playing HMS Acasta and it's a tough little ship capable of outperforming all expectations. I hope you enjoy the video and let me know in the comments what you think.

    Hello again everyone, I finally managed to get a chance to play the tier 5 british destroyer Hms Acasta after finally uploading a video recently on the Hms Daring. Due to getting the tier 6 and tier 7 in containers I unintentionally skipped over this great little ship. I've had a ton of fun playing the lower tiers again and the Acasta is a tough little nut to crack. I hope you all enjoy the video and let me know in the comments what you think. o7

You are very much on the right track, all the info is there regarding modules, skills and flags to take. Thanks for the tips on defensive play. I'd started up the UK destroyers after playing the Japanese ones and kept wondering what I was doing wrong. Now I'm playing more carefully and conducting more ambushes as opposed to aggressive runs I'm seeing far better results. About to unlock the Acasta and your tips here will be very useful!

    No doubt a coincidence, but after resetting my capt to your advice and taking on board some of your tips, first game as low tier Acasta was a Kraken (rare for me) including New Mex, Gneisenau, Emerald, Shiratsuyu and a Gnevny. Had plenty of support from team, but still-thanks

    This by far and away is the best play list...so much so I am in for second helpings!
    What you are so good at is helping me understand situational awareness. I used to rush in to the cap, often with poor support, and just get wrecked Now I am not saying I am a unicum, but I am now starting to get 20-40k damage consistently.
    But what do you do about lemming trains? Do you follow the pack or brave it out solo. This is one aspect I find really hard to know what to do.
    Keep up the good work!

    I just acquired this ship through the Tech Tree, purchased all the modules, and built her using your build that you show right down to the 10 point captain. I was going to tier up to the Skane as I don't need doubloons for that either, but I felt this ship more important. Plus you have said several times you liked the British DD's much better than most dd's you have played. I'll probably tier up to the Skane next week when my on line bank roll is a bit better. In the mean time I'm hoping to sink a few ships with this tier V British DD... If you have an opinion, I'd love to hear from you. I have been a subscriber for a long time and you are also my "go to person" to hear how to play a lot of ships and their builds and captain builds as they are reachable. Thanks for your video, and I gave you a thumbs up. Hope you had a nice 4th of July 2020 and I also wish you smooth sailing....... BTW, where do I get that long aiming scale with the green numbers like you have? Also, very nice game, you are really good at World of War Ships...

    It seems like with the quick smoke recharge and built in speed boost. It allows one to slow down and pop smoke quickly and then make up for the poor stealth and torp range to fire torps from smoke? I'm still learning on the RN DD's.

    • @CarbineCarlito
      @CarbineCarlito  Před 4 lety

      Hi William, The quick but short lasting smokes gives you a lot of flexibility to your attacks, sitting in smokes torping wouldn't be my attack of choice though. I explain in the video how one can stealth torp in the Acasta although it does require good positioning and some practice.

    How do you keep from getting obliterated from Cv's? I have the VI Farragut gun boat (dd) and by the time I get where I'm headed, I have a 1/4 of my health left because the CV's know dd's don't have much AA and concentrate on them from the time they leave port until they are pretty much sunk. This has also happened to me with the British dd Wakeful but not quite as bad. The only DD that seems to come out unscathed from CV's is my Swedish Vasteras, but then it has it's own set of problems of no smoke, and I think gets worse (sluggish) when you tier up to the VII Skane, which i'm kind of hesitant to do. I think I'll tier up my Wakeful to the this ship Acasta and move her 10 point captain and use your build. But first, I need some way of not loosing my ship early in the game from CV's and none of these DD's seem to have good AA. I could really use your opinion on the CV issue as you are really a good player ...... I do give you credit, you never give any dd a bad rap, you simply show how to use it to it's advantage. Flambass said the Skane was pretty much a terrible ship and would rather have either a German or Soviet dd. I've done decent with my Vasteras, just have to torp and run and use the back guns while leaving the scene LOL. I'll take any information you have. In the mean time, I gave you a thumbs up and wish you smooth sailing.. I've been a subscriber for quite awhile and value your insight. I've been on since Christmas 2019 and I still do not have your insight or great analogy on the map and reading other ships...

    Hey great video, I was wondering what you thought of the Gallant? I missed out on getting a free Cossack, so I'm trying to decide if I want to get Gallant as a captain trainer since Cossack's price in the store is a bit too expensive for my taste

    • @CarbineCarlito
      @CarbineCarlito  Před 5 lety

      Hi Ham&Cheese, great name btw😉 The Gallant is a nice little ship with 2x4 torps with 8km of range which is very nice for tier 6. I'm going to make a video on the Gallant hopefully very soon to complete the whole Royal Navy DD line from tier 5 to tier 10. I got the Gallant from the Arsenal when it was available there. I'm not sure if it will be again. The only downside with the Gallant is almost the total lack of anti aircraft defence which due to the proliferation of double aircraft carrier games due to the current cv rework could prove quite difficult to play and get good results. That being said it's a very nice ship for its tier.

    H.M.S. Acasta don`t know anything about the game your playing but my Gran`s 1st husband served in it. He like many who served in it died when it was sunk in 1940. Althogh I have to point out them torpedoes you are talking about hit the German Battleship that not only took out Acasta but it`s sistership as well as the aircraft carrier Glorious. But Acosta`s hit of the battleship with her torpedeo put the battleship back to port and not far from the action the British and french navies where escorting troop ships returning from the failed mission to stop the Nazis in Norway. If that tiny little destroyer never managed to hit that German Battleship there could have been a lot more sinkings and loss of allied troops. As for my grans husband he died we think after being pulled out of the water a few days later heading to the Faroe Islands on a Norwegian Trawler where he is buried in Torshaven Cemetery
