The beginning of Techno Viking king is heroic tho. It set up the whole video how cool he is. They should’ve watched it

I remember every AMV and anime fight scene just being a Linkin Park song.

connor is right, shrek memes really blew up after shrek is love shrek is life, i remember that spike in popularity very vividly.

Yeah I think GMod was the real cause of the resurgence. Shrek was legitimately huge in mainstream pop culture in its day, but all the really stupid stuff like "It's all ogre now" is purely internet humor.

Techo viking was also heavily esoted and reshared, the meme aspect arises for most of the early memes is the adaptability and recaptioning of the image or video to express a wide array of ideas

Ah good ol GEMA and literally everyone hated them to death in Germany. There was also a common catchphrase in German "GEMA scheißen/kacken" which broadly translate means "GEMA Shit" although pronounciation of GEMA could also be understood as German slangish saying of "Let's go shitting" and always used in reference whenever there where issues with music licensing and stuff and they where well shit.

I remember that and I hated it, someone shared a video and I couldn't fucking see it!

"Geh mal scheissen" semantically would be like "go eff yourself" in german😊

Gema is literally a character in Di Gi Charat and his titular suffix -gema.

The Techno Vikings name is Johannes. He shortly appeared in an Interview by german Late night TV host Stefan Raab.
edit: Apparently this is disputed and not confirmed. No one has released his confirmed identity to this day.

I remember watching the gameplay of RE5 (I think before it was released), and someone using Let The Bodies Hit The Floor while showing the gameplay. It was a banger

As far as kids comedy movies goes, Shrek is the undeniable greatest of all time
The memes really cooked its aura

I think garnt is right about shrek. Shrek was always culturally relevant, but I think that video marks a time where the generation that grew up with that movie + began to utilize the internet. If you've ever talked to someone who didn't or couldn't watch SpongeBob or shrek as a kid, even if they go back and watch it, they usually don't care as much about the memes.
Like Shrek is love Shrek is life kicked off the period, but I think it's wrong to use that to underestimate the relevance of shrek prior to that point.

Only on Trash Taste they manage to butcher a meme. Cant believe they skipped the beginning of Techno Viking. Its Not funny without that Part !!!😂

  • @MrAnu8is

Shrek really has cultural relevance af because it was a total shot at the typical disney cliche. Hes a lazy swamp ogre and gets the typical beautiful princess that turns also into an ogre. And yeah there's also the donkey married a dragon thing. Its ultra progressive so people love it especially the first one.^^
