Hearing the boys dismiss "Guernica" while being a history buff who studied the Spanish Civil War and Picasso's desire to bring the atrocities commited during that period to light through his painting was pure pain.
Same bro. That painting is so revelant nowadays no other work ive seen has captured its catharsis and anguish from war survivors to war survivors.
I did homework for students and had to write up research papers on many artists, Pollock kept getting assigned (none for Picasso) and one of paintings I wrote up was Guernica 🥹
It's just not as impressive as something any of the rennaisance painters made etc
Anyone who has studied art history will get an anueresm from this video.
I guess you can say that to every of their episodes 😅
Not that deep bruh
Aneurysm* if you are gonna act like you are so smart at least spell check..
Neuro Divergents set their family on fire the moment these guys pick a topic
Connor is having a “Yoshikage Kira” moment in that thumbnail
lol
I was thinking the same hahaha. I now want to see an edit of Connor on Kira's face.
Garnt truly nailed it with the analogy of Art. It’s absolutely a unique form of communication, towards everything and everyone.
They midly offended the entire art comunity😅
Mildly?
As someone who had to learn about these artists in school, this segment goes hard 😂
#9 deserves to be higher up because it shows the ideal, real and mirrored worlds all in one masterpiece. TED-Ed did made a great video explaining it
I love that they all cheered for the painting with the naked man in it
The "Wanderer above a sea of fog" is the Sawano drop of paintings.
I can't look at it without hearing the wings of freedom theme at maximum volume.
Imagine not knowing Guernica or Las Meninas 💀
Yeah I literally died inside when they said that 💀it was hilarious xd
Guernica is legendary
I literally had to look it up what those are and I’ve never seen them anywhere.
i mean if youre not that into art or dont study it, you cant rly be expected to know everything. its not that deep
18 painful minutes
7:10 uHM achTuaLlY the first photographs took from hours to DAYS to capture and develop even one
Ya’ll would love the documentary “Tim’s Vermeer.”
It follows a retired early software-graphics engineer (Tim) who is figuring out how the “Girl with pearl earring” era of paintings was made with such amazing lighting effects. It’s also produced by Penn and Teller.
Spoiler-ish Alert:
Your “screen capture” comment was more accurate than you would imagine possible.
Wait can you elaborate on the screen capture comment? I watched this and still didn’t get it
@@jyw0000 I may be mistaken, but I recall him saying something where he compared the way those photos look to a screen capture. Spoiler:
“Tim” in the documentary figured out that the paintings were done with the help of a mirror.
Vermeer was literally painting/tracing over a reflection to paint so well. There are even artifacts such as certain straight lines being curved subtlety that only could result from this method.
It’s a really fun (in a geeky way) documentary. Vermeer was a good painter, but his paintings are so good because he was a great technologist for his day.
If I misremembered the screen capture comment and it’s not connected, I apologize for the confusion. I’m typing this comment at work where I can’t get away with rewatching the actual video ATM.
@@JasonJrake this is why tracing in art can be good. (not to mention the tracing technique was used even by Disney)
For anyone interested in art from the 16th-century italy: "Arte" from Kei Ohkubo. Great artystyle, nice story and a good way to learn about the techniques from this time. ;D
I loved that manga. That was my first non Shounen manga series I have ever read. Anime is a bit ok with lackluster production.
Absolute GOAT manga
Next on trash taste, “ranking the top 10 world religions”
The mods will uh, be very busy that day
Calling Guernica mid is an insane take lmao
The painting that is stuck in my head is"La Fiancée Hesitant" or "the reluctant fiancee" by Aguste Toulmouche it's just gives me a feeling that she was not preparing to be wife she was preparing to be a widow 😂😂
I looked up the painting judt know because it sounded familiar and yup. it goes so hard
i am PRAYGING that the philosophy of art students rise up and contribute some good information in the comment section for the full vid
I studied some of this at uni and its super interesting and you can communicate about this experience so much more clearly when you have this knowledge so this is actually a challenging topic to talk about so I think the bois did a pretty decent job at attempting this discussion
edit : that photo with all the scientists is the most epic thing ever, I think about that with Freud and Jung too, you can imagine them at the library chilling out talking shit and discovering things...
Saturn Devouring his Son
Dali goes hard fr fr
3:31 Oh Elfen Lied....... 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
My art teacher told me The Perstistence of Memory (melting clocks) comes from a meditation Dalì had after eating cheese. I'm not joking. I dont know if its true but it could have definitely been the case from mindfucking Dalì.
Wonder how artists/ art students will think of these ratings xD
I find it hilarious because basically all of them they called mid. They have no clue what they are looking at
dying inside /pos
I got kicked in the nuts last Friday and it felt way better than watching this
I think they have no clue about most of the pieces and just went by immediate first impression, lol. It truly is trash taste, but at least they made a bit of effort in getting to know a few (especially Joey, even tho the trio confused contemporary and modern together). I didn't expect a deep dive into art from the bois, but it definitely would be more interesting if they dug more into it rather than scrolling through most of it.
remindse of that one tiktok/short where the guy eats the muffins of his depressed roommate.
says " w.e hes going thru it must suck, but i hope it gets worse cuz this muffin is delicious"
3x3 for favourite art when?
Calling mona lisa mid is crazy. The man basically reinvented how painting is done.
Okay, but can we all agree, Creation of Adam at #10 is a fucking crime, right?
this should be titled 18 min of offending all of art and art history community 💀
It ain't that deep tho?
Wow this gonna be an interesting and pretentious episode (reminds me of Joey’s recent video “This is the Most Pretentious Anime Tier List Ever”)
It's actually the opposite of pretentious because nobody has any idea what any of the context behind any of these paintings and they have no idea what they are talking about. They are just shooting the shit and are ignorant.
This is quite literally the opposite of pretentious
What is that thumbnail 😂😂
michael angelo is 1 no cap
it's goated fr
They have literally run out of topics.
Run out of topics? My dude, they just expanded into a new domain of topics with this one.
They will eventually have to talk about anime and become what they swore they aren't
@@Equinox4242 You got that right.
I hope no one who actually knows anything about art watches this cause even with what little knowledge I know I am appalled except in the few parts where they are actually appreciating the art
if you like dali you have no knowledge
I've seen more impressive art on deviantart
no you havent lmao
