I was lucky to have a really cool older guy that was my big homey as a teenager. He was the captain of the football and basketball teams. Real local celeb, always in the local papers type cat. All around, all state athlete. And he was a talented musician to boot. He'd take me to functions where there were older chicks and stuff but he always told me that I wasnt under any pressure to do anything to fit in and that included sexual stuff with the girls. Its funny to look back at my high school life and realize how non-present sex was. I'm not sure if it was because I just wasn't around those types of people, or if it was me not recognizing it, but especially when compared to my friends at other high schools, its seems weird that there was never like a "thing" within my social circle. I mean, I had romantic relationships and interests but sex was never the end goal for me (and it still isn't lmao). I read these comments and people are all talking about their high school experiences. Yours is a breath of fresh air. I only remember 1 person saying he lost his virginity at 13 and everyone got silent. The girls were talking about having sex with their boyfriends, but that is what one does when you are in a relationship I guess. My friend group only one guy lost his virginity before graduation and it was a childhood friend from Hungary he met again one Summer. Most of my friends have found someone to partner up with and it feels like I am left behind somehow, but they never shamed me for that. They are supportive and they even set up a tinder for me, but I am not interested in dating at the moment. I feel like I need to get my mental right before I enter a relationship. Don't want to hurt someone because I wasn't ready yet, you know. I just turned 24 a few days ago. I will probably start to worry around 27-28, but if it is not in the cards for me, it isn't meant to be. I am not religious or anything either. It would be nice to have that kind of intimate relation with someone, but I haven't met someone I feel something for more than just an interest in their personality or what they do.

Initially I was a bit anxious about not having any dating or relationship milestones even in my early 20s that a friend of mine said I should just have a one night stand (note they were joking). I told myself to wait and find someone who loves me and I love too. Eventually I had my first relationship at 23 and I’m glad I waited because I learnt a lot from my own maturity and from my partner. I’m happy I had these moments with someone I love and who loved me back.
I'm from America and its crazy to look into other places like a group of people including myself thought it was normal (at the time) lost their v card at 14 or 15 and its crazy to look back on because everyone had a horrible time.

Thankfully, when I was a kid I never really felt the pressure of "having to lose my virginity", in fact, in the vast majority of cases, schools and societies in the west tend to promote abstinence (which comes with a lot of issues as well). I decided to have sex because I was intrigued by it and it seemed pleasurable. When I finally did, I ended up really enjoying it and actively looked for more.
People who pressure you into having sex are usually other kids, and it is because of the parents and institutions keeping sex as a taboo that teenagers end up developing all these unhealthy attitudes towards it. Sex should be talked about more and old, backward terms such as "virginity" need to be abolished. The concept of "virginity" is specially harmful to girls, who grow up being told that losing it will somehow diminish their "value" and would be a stain to their purity. Women obviously don't have this same standard or pressure the boys are describing here.
Both the boys pressuring themselves to have sex and girls being too afraid to enjoy or explore their sexuality are products of a patriarchal society who is still too afraid to talk about one of the most natural human activities there are. Nowadays, no people or institution should be pressuring you into doing anything. Follow what you feel is right for you and do it responsibly, always acting with empathy and care.
