when i heard connor said "batman should not be cool, he is a freak!", i knew he really understands the character and the movie
EXACTLY, I really think Joey missed that point, and even more upset that Garnt thinks he has "no character arc." Media literacy -100
Exactly, like he’s considered a weirdo, even by his children and the rest of the Justice League, and I’m happy that they leaned into Batman being a weird loner, even if they exaggerated him being an emo a little too much
Just wait until Joey found out about how almost every live action Batman have eye liner on
Facts
They all do. They just wash it off in between scenes. Poor Joey.
@@jornavyr2459 not even, the movies want you to believe that is not there. They take off the mask and its just not there.
I disagree with them saying there's no character arc in The Batman, he starts out thinking that violence and vengeance can solve everything but ends with him becoming the symbol of hope instead of vengeance
ikr its literally one of the main points of the movie. it pains me when ppl recklessly say batman has no development
Thats what i love about that movie, in the end he becomes my favorite version of batman
His dynamic with Gordon and the police force also had an interesting plot within the film. In any case, saying he had "no character arc" is a stretch. It sounds like the POV of someone who watches shonen anime and expects character development to be delivered on a silver platter, even though Batman's arc should be very obvious. He starts and ends with a monologue that greatly contrast each other and show how he's changed after these events, you'd have to have skipped those scenes to think "oh, he was sad before and now he is still sad."
I'm actually more annoyed at Garnt wanting the fucking batman origin again than Joey making emo jokes.
I'm surprised that Connor actually appreciated The Batman and Joey missed the point of the movie.
yea I thnk this movie really hit with big batman fans and casual batmans fan, where one could appreciate the nuances of the execution and the other the sheer epicness of it. Whereas big movie critiques or superhero fans that aren't specifically batman fans like Joey, didnt seem to really understand the movie.
I don’t think Joey understands Batman
I guess having a man crush on Robert Pattison makes you more focused on the movie
@@dajokahbaby1506 Can confirm this is true
you can understand the meaning of a piece, that doesn’t mean you must enjoy it.
Honestly connor has better taste in movies than both garnt and joey. That batman take from joey was horrible.
Joey doesn’t like Batman, but he loved Greenland out of all fucking movies, and thought it was one of the better disaster movies, ofc Batman isn’t a masterpiece or anything, but really? Greenland? It turns out liking David Lynch and Kurosawa isn’t a guarantee for good taste lol.
I mean, a few points have to be deducted for the Sonic 2 review. The movie is still a fun time and a solid 8/10 because there is nothing inherently bad about it, like the first movie. And this is coming from someone how isn’t the biggest Sonic fan
@@dajokahbaby1506 David Lynch is a meme.
Always has been.
1 hundo
@@dajokahbaby1506 He didn't say Greenland was a masterpiece. The execution just happen to be effective on relaying anxiety to the viewer (Joey). Enjoying vs saying a movie is a masterpiece or loving it is different. He just didn't enjoy Batman.
Normally we clown on Connor for his unusual takes but Joey and Grants takes on The Batman is by far some of the worst we’ve ever heard on the podcast
It’s not tho, a lot of people thought that Batman was just ok or hated. Granted a lot more people like but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea
@@brace4impact258 it’s true that it may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but stating stuff like how Batman never changes at the end of the film? (No character arc??)That’s just objectively wrong whether u think the film did it in a good way or not
Liking the film is subjective of course but stating stuff that’s just not true?
how are they the worst takes on the podcast? I get you like batman but this isn't even that bad compared to the craziest things they've said.
The Batman really is a movie for Batman fans. If you know and like Batman, they were hitting a lot of classic notes with some nuance. If you don’t or need to be re-invested in each iteration, I can see how you might be put off.
Batman is emo. That is the essence of his character. He is deeply traumatized and the only way he can deal with it is by reliving his trauma over and over with the idea in mind that maybe he can stop it from happening to anyone else ever again.
no batman isnt emo. batman is batman.
You can see Connor slowly getting more irate with their shit takes
I’m really surprised that Joey, the resident midwestern emo fan with blonde highlights, doesn’t care for the new Batman movie
wait a damn min why did i think his highlights were natural this whole time
The batman was whole at the end realizing he needs to be a symbol of hope instead of fear...how was he more broken at the end????
Joey: Making eyeliner emo jokes and saying the movie is boring.
Me: Umm... You do know basically all batman actors wore black eyeliner as part of their makeup right? That's how they make their eyes pop. And what do you mean the movie is boring? You know how long I’ve waited for a detective Batman movie?
Not only that but in canon it makes it hard to identify you, as the only thing people can see at all times is your eyes when profaling someone usually its pretty accurate, its why most people can see through mask and stuff.
I completely agree with most of what Connor said in this one, especially about Top Gun: Maverick. IMO Maverick is not only THE best movie of 2022, but is also one of the very rare instances where the sequel is just as, if not wayyyyy cooler than the first. As much as I disagree with Tom Cruise IRL, he deserves an Oscar for Maverick.
The dark paint literally helps him hide his identity, it’s not like he’s wearing it for style. If you’re complaining about it, that’s on you
True but he’s already covering half his face. The eye make-up doesn’t really help much. Plus if you just ask basic questions like “where is Bruce Wayne when Batman’s around? How does Batman afford all that tech? Why does Batman primarily operate in Gotham?” You’d be able to guess it’s Bruce. It isn’t the biggest Mystery to solve 😂
@@kingcyclops4079 yes cause Bruce Wayne is the only rich person in Gotham who hasn't been seen with batman lmao
Connor is that one guy you see in Rotten Tomatoes reviews using porn analogies to describe a film.
I didn't expect Connor to have better taste in movies than Joey and Garnt
Joey's take on Batman is just atrocious
I don't fault them for not knowing the Batman comics lore but the movie was much better than most which came in the same span of months
Joey should stop talking about movies for sometime lol
The best highlight of showing Connors cinematic intelligence/love for Batman . While also showing Joey and Connor clowny behavior
Considering The Batman Movie is as close to being good to the Dark Knight and how much it is inspired by the Batman Year One and The Long Halloween comics it really shows that Joey is kinda nitpicky in his opinions.
Even if he is not nitpicking most of his criticisms are so dumbed down that it's hard to believe how much he missed the point of the Movie.
Like I can see how he'd always defend Akira from people it's saying it isn't that great and that there's nothing more in depth to it and he'd always argue back that there's more to Akira than what you think but then go Monke Brain when it comes to non-Anime movies and shows like the Batman and loses all awareness and critical thinking.
Hes a moron what do u expect leave him be also i think this batman was really similar to batman earth one and batman imposter
nope lol. dark knight is way better.
@@FM-dm8xj shut up
@Geranimo no
I will say this about THE BATMAN
The beginning of the movie The Batman is sad and beating people up to stop crime
By the end of the Movie Batman is Sad but has decided its better to priotize saving the city rather than beating up criminals. (So in the Next movie you'll be seeing rich Bruce Wayne doing charities and stuff)
In the Subway he doesn't even help the Asian man on the ground
By the End of the movie he can't let go of girl being carried away in the chopper.
It'd be better if Garnt and Joey said that they don't LIKE is arc, but saying Batman doesn't have one or he just "stayed sad" is just ridiculous. Besides having great visual storytelling in the ending, the ending monologue makes it abundantly clear where the development is. Media literacy -100

Shrek 2
Planet of the Apes
Mother's Knows Breast.
it depends on your favourite . For me one piece is 8 out of 10 at best and I gave 10/10 for hyouka , barakamon . For almost all ppl , it will be reverse.
Nah that movie was hella good but it didn't reinvent the wheel, and there were a lot of cliches. I feel like to get 10/10 you have to be a masterpiece, define a genre, do something mind-blowing.
Proof that Connor has better taste in movies than Joey and Garnt.
I’m sorry but I don’t want to spend valuable time to see Bruce’s parents get shot in an alley AGAIN. Batman is DC’s most iconic superhero (ironic given he doesn’t have actual superpowers), I feel like most people already know his origin story by now.
Since I haven't seen ANYONE comment on their thoughts on Sonic 2.
Sonic 2 was honestly the better movie than the first because it actually felt more like a Sonic movie. Its not a mediocre buddy-cop movie like the first and Jim Carry actually resembles more to Eggman and has a much better balance of playing as the comedic villain. I'm also one of those people who will partially defend the dance scene. While it is cringe, it was meant to full establish the brotherly bond and connection between Sonic and Tails. The whole point of Tails' character is that he doesn't think that highly of himself and slowly builds confidence while spending time with Sonic.
Seeing how well they've handled Knuckles (who hasnt been done well since SA2, Heroes, and Sonic X), I am praying they handle Shadow with grace. People who say that Shadow is an edgelord don't really know Shadow's character well enough and only associate with his spinoff game. He wasn't even close to being an "edgelord" in SA2 or in Heroes.
My only concern with Shadow could be his voice: I could imagine Knuckles voice on him and would fit really well, so with this third movie we will have 2 animated characters with very similar voice and that could be an identity issue. If they manage to make shadow's voice very compelling but identifiable, we will be on the right track.
@@luisguillermogarcia3724 I agree no doubt.
I’ve seen a lot people saying Keanu Reeves should voice him, a casting choice I don’t exactly agree with. Shadow should have either a soft, almost condescending tone like David Humphrey in SA2 and Heroes or something more rough/deep, determined and intimidating like Jason Griffith and even Kirk Thornton.

Everybody malding out here
connor has the best takes among the three of them. i agree on the marvel stuff and batman.
and i surprisingly liked the new top gun movie too..
Comic books are the western version of anime. I don't think that's much of a crazy take. It's kind of always been that way. With comics vs manga.
Comics has the problem where the people adapting not only refuse to do it properly, they turn it into their vanity project.
With Manga/Anime, if you get something wrong there is a damn uproar.
i would like marvel much more if they did more accurate adaptations, like anime being 1:1. It's sad they didn't take that opportunity with any of the mini-series--an opportunity for long-form comic book stories that wouldn't fit a movie to be adapted. Instead, it's just MCU but worse.
@@Shockguey

Somehow I think the TikToc generation will not be able to follow it.
Disney should have ended Marvel after "Avengers: Endgame", but no they had to keep milking that cash cow dry until it dies and no one wants it at all anymore.
If you know comics, you know that storylines always continue somehow.
It’s business. They can’t end it. They gotta keep the money train going. This is what happens when you have a franchise that’s too big to fail.
Not really, it could have but it doesn't mean it should have. There are tons of great characters and stories to be told that the MCU hasn't touched upon yet but sure lets ignore that and go with the ignorant, cynical schtick.
I'm fine with it going I just think it should have introduced the crazier stuff sooner. Gimme X-Men, Fantastic 4, and Ghost Rider already.
End Marvel there? With the amount of stuff from the comics that we haven't even touch yet? It was far from ending my man.
Nah Dr. Strange changes because he gets over his ex girlfriend and can finally move on in his life and find love. It’s symbolic at the end when he changes his broken watch she gave him as he now moving on. That being said movie was still mid.
Yea but before that movie we never see him caring or even hear about his ex (I forgot her name) in any movie after the first. It was never a real part of his character to begin with.
@@onlychrisallthetime
I mean it was a part of the first film so that was part of his character there, they also have this whole point in the film about being in control and Strange's more arrogant behavior as in the beginning he's still talking back to Wong and not really accepting him as Sorcerer Supreme but bows to him by the end. I agree the movie could've handled it all better but people saying he doesn't change I feel kind of missed the point.
Joey projecting too much on the eye liner LMAO
Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were both awesome, but my favorite Batman franchise is Gotham, tbh. I just thought all the characters in there were portrayed excellently and I loved the mood of the show. So now when I hear Batman, I actually think of Gotham first.
If doctor doom or galactus come into the mcu they better not screw those character's up
i like the mcu the problem is it is going be hard to top the 10 year build up they had since right now after thanos got taken care of all the heroes are kind of dealing with their own shit right now in the aftermath. The over arcing plot has not started yet is what i am saying.
The other issue is that they keep turning their potential antagonists into jokes.
Keep/Skrull War: Uh Oh turns out the Kree were destroyed and the Skrulls are peaceful al along
Kang: He's another Ultron jokester, doesn't have the motivation of trying to save Revanna (because damsel in distress)
I don't expect them to get Namor right*, I don't expect them to get Doctor Doom right, or Silver Surfer or Galactus, or Wolverine.

"Which had the signature Marvel"
Not really
"If it's a bad restaurant under new management (Victoria Alonso)"
Alonso has been with the MCU for years even before Phase 4 so that doesn't really make sense
"that is KNOWN for making bad dishes (Phase 4) "
But is also known for making really good ones so phases 1 through 3, like it's hilarious to me that after one "bad" phase, and I put bad in quotations because I genuinely think a lot of the rage against is overblown, people are acting as if there wasn't a decade of success and there's no chance they'll ever be good again despite even in this phase there's been solid films like NWH and Shang Chi.
"So long as Victoria Alonso is Co-Chair, it'll continue to be crap"
She isn't co-chair, she's an executive producer and head of their VFX department, and as I said before she was doing the executive producing for year well before Phase 4, like I think Ike Perlmutter is still the chairmen though Kevin Feige is really the one overseeing everything either way this point is wrong.

My biggest gripe with all this is Joey roasting The Batman's eyeliner. It makes sense, Joey! Christian Bale was doing it too! What, you think his eyelids just naturally turned black when he put on the mask in The Dark Knight movies!?!? This movie just likes to show how shitty and not at all glamorous it really is to be Batman. Dammit, Joey...😂
No the MCU isn't like an anime, it's like the comics it was based on
They are saying it consumption wise
The thing about thr Thor movie was that while it wasnt great, it kinda was needed for Thor's arc, in a way. Definitely wasn't "filler" like Connor said, other MCU movies fit that bill much more. The Jane storyline just awkwardly cut off in a really weird manner during the Thanos saga. They randomly broke up between movies and we didnt get much of an explanation why, then we didnt see Jane or any of them again for like 8-10 years. So it makes sense some Thor director would bring that loose end full circle at some point. It's just a shame they had to waste Christian Bale's talent in doing so with a terribly conceived and executed story. Felt like the movie was simultaneously too long and too short. Too long just in general, I didnt need 2.5 hrs of romance and jokes, but too short in that the God Butcher shit didnt make any sense and that villain was not remotely fleshed out. Why was he so much stronger than the other Necro Sword user we saw at the beginning? What's his background as a fighter? Why didnt they actually show the God Butcher butchering Gods? We saw more of Thor doing that ffs!
I disagree that the movie was terribly conceived and executed. The god butcher stuff makes complete sense, while I agree he could have been fleshed out more but we was given was solid and is a leagues better than literally any other thor villain (and most MCU villains) aside from maybe loki. We don't really need to why he was stronger or his background as a fighter, as for him butchering gods yeah it's a bummer we didn't see him do much of that.
@@johnman8398 How did it make perfect sense? We saw Gorr himself had no powers and was weak af before he got the Necrosword, but the previous Necrosword user was so weak that he goy killed by that god that Gorr worshipped at the beginning. So how was Gorr so much more powerful when he had the Necrosword? So yes we did need to understand what made him stronger. The only great Thor movie was Ragnarok and it was also another jokefest (just a funnier one), so it's not like he's had tons of great villains. If we're being honest Loki himself was a pretty mediocre villain until the Dark World when he did that swap thing with Odin, since he wasn't even very strong unless he could manipulate someone woth the Tesseract
@Joe Dorben When I said that it was in reference to him as a character and again why he's stronger than the previous user is doesn't really matter it could simply be that his drive and hatred allowed him to be stronger than the previous user or that he grew stronger over time and kept the sword longer the previous user or both. The point is that it doesn't really matter and is just a nitpick. If you consider Ragnarok a great movie then this one should also definitely count as one as it's better than ragnarok (it being funnier is debateable). I was gonna say that he was straight up better than loki as well but I know how most people feel about that character and I didn't feel like arguing about that so I said maybe to be on the safe side.
Joeys opinion outside of music and anime are just awful, makes it worse how sure and snobbish he sounds, like only HE can be right
Really? To me Joey barely sounds like that way, unless he's talking about anime, Japan or Aussie wildlife. He always sounded like it's just his opinion
@@pennyinheaven I dunno the way he talks about it in a condescending way like saying “he’s sad at the beginning and sad at the end” Did he not watch the movie? Batman learned Gotham needs a protector not a vigilante and he learned why his methods were not the best which is why he was “sad” . Massively undermining the whole movie like people didn’t want a detective Batman seeing as how he’s referred to as the best detective, it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t know what he’s talking about & it’s fine to have opinion but he says things like they’re fact a lot

2:25-2:55
I always hear this point but the simple solution is you don't have to keep up with it all, it's not rocket science.
Problem is that most of the films and TV series arent stand alone things anymore and have to be interconnected in some way. If you didn't watch wandavision, you had no idea why Wanda went batshit crazy and became obsessed with having children in MoM
The tv shows was a nice little experiment but it really hurts the production, more so with the VFX drama that happened. It was better off as just two or three movies a year, a show is too much honestly. Also, no one wants to get into these movies feeling like they NEED to do homework beforehand.
@@nenocen4109 You still don't need to watch WV for MoM, sure it adds to the experience but its not mandatory to understand what's going on. If you basic attention to the movie you understand that oh she at some point had kids and lost them simple.

I am not saying that the Batman is the greatest adaptation there is,and some things were lacking for sure but not everything has to be like "The Boys" or the marvel cinematic universe.
Imo the movie was as realistic as a superhero movie can get.Really brutal fight scenes where you could feel the weight of every punch, the characters had realistic reactions to the things that were happening while at the same time it had the typical batman monologues and unrealistic undertone that may sound and seem childish but actually adds a lot to the character if done right.
At the same time the movie revolves around the detective side of Batman witch no other adaptation dared to touch in depth before because it's really difficult to pace. Also it was a really unique look on the character of Batman witch had started to become really boring and redundant. We don't need another playboy Bruce Wayne from the gate go,we don't need another perfect Batman and we certainly don't need another pearl scene for god's sake.

Everything was good about Batman except Batman. He’s the weak point. I don’t mind him being emo when he’s Batman but he shouldn’t have been emo when he’s Bruce Wayne and should have had more scenes as Bruce Wayne the billionaire playboy
This was about Batman before he became Bruve Wayne. The movie took place not that long after his parents died, so he's not going to be a charming experinced billionare playboy right away. We have 2 more movies with Robert Pattison as batman so whats the rush? He was great in the first film
@@coldfire2753 not really because when the movie starts he’s already been Batman for 2 years unlike Christian bales Batman who hadn’t been Batman for a year
@@hamimhasan_
I actually thought the opposite, I thought Batman carried the film and was the best part, the other characters weren't bad and I even liked Gordon but Pattinson I think might be my favorite Batman
@@hamimhasan_ That doesn't really prove anything. The only thing that shows is that christian bale's batman is worse than battinson, which is absolutely true. This batman movie is about a batman thats still trying to find a place in the world, its about how he BECOMES a symbol of hope as opposed to vengeance which is perfectly shown when his first scene in the movie is him beating the hell out of random goons while the final scene is him helping people amidst a literal disaster and it being hopeful.
The new Thor movie was absolute shit. My mom couldn't even sit through the first 15 minutes before turning it off. I powered through it just to know what happens for the mcu storyline.
bro ratio this video please
The one good part of The Batman was the Nirvana song early in the movie. Also the opening for Thor Love and Thunder was dark as fuck.
Video was great until they started talking about The batman smh, that movie was beautiful
Idk I thought the batman was fine, but boring at times and I don't think it needed to be 3 hours long.
ah hell nah bois loki was shit too
greenland was kinda cheesy tbh. It’s a very very cliche disaster movie
It is but the execution worked for him, not the story per se, I think.
Loki was trash
I really like Garnt and Joey takes on anime/manga but their taste in movies in absolute garbage, what are you saying on that The Batman was ok? And that BATMAN as a character is not interesting ? Are you f kidding me? Jesus Christ, se me cayó un ídolo.
Nahhhhh I seem to disagree with the masses for once, I adore the cinema and try and see all these DC/MARVEL esque comic book movies. I highly disagree that Thor Love and Thunder is the worst marvel movie. It’s not the best but it was a really fun watch. There was tonnes of moments where me and my dad were laughing like drains. There were tonnes of drawn out scenes and awful dialogue but on the whole it was a really fun watch. I think the eternals was a much worse movie. That was TERRIBLE. I didn’t even have fun sat there. The lore was boring and not much really happened. The romance in it was dull as ditchwater and there was no real chemistry between the characters. That’s hands down the worst ranking for me. Marvel are definitely at a point where they are just filler till something interesting happens. With the Batman movie I partially agree with Joey and partially agree with Connor. I’m a huge Batman fan. I enjoy Batman and the Suicide Squad and those movies a lot more than most marvel movies. But with this one it did feel so fucking forced, the scene in which Batman takes of his mask and he has the eyeliner running down his face is just a scene I clown on daily. I get that all the Batmans use the paint the eyeliner is not the part that was insufferable to me. It’s the fact Nirvana was playing in the background and he was writing in his diary!! The way he was writing literally sounded like me as a 14 year old. It was so hilarious. On a whole that movie was great! The soundtrack was stellar, I loveddddd the villain and the story line and on the whole I loved RPatz as Batman. I loved the fact it wasn’t another origin story and the joker wasnt the villain. It’s just some seems were so on the nose how broken he was!! With movies it needs to be more show not tell but they wrote it like they didn’t expect the audience to know Batman is fucked up. That’s my only query with the entire film. It ruins the emersion
C'mon... Batman was actually good
The Thor movie wasn’t bad as he said but also not as amazing as fans say. The ending was Disney lame levels.
I'm pretty sure most fans didn't think it was amazing
It definitely wasn't worse that multiverse of mildness. Thor 4 was scarier than multiverse and was carried by character synergies, while multiverse mostly got carried by scarlet witch
I’m surprised, there’s a lot less butthurt MCU shills in the comments compared to the doctor strange video. Give it time…
Batman is Mids
I liked the villain but the "4chan" turn was kinda cringy to me. Gordon's lines were so fucking weird to me but I loved it.
I like love and thunder.
I didn't even consider going to see top gun.
It's most often times where Connor gives the hottest takes between the three with the two piling on him but goddamn this time The Anime Man didn't just have a hot take, but a trash one at that.
It'd be more understanding if his reasoning for not liking Batman is not this Bare Bones or too Surface Level.
Of course he is The Anime Man and he probably isn't that knowledgeable about anything Batman in particular and are only basing his opinions by comparing Pattinson's portrayal to the early portrayal to the likes of Keaton, Bale, Affleck, etc. but if he does think this way at least act like it and not act like you're so confident about your opinion that you make it sound like It's facts that can't be argued while speaking in such a condescending tone.
.
WOW listening to everyone but connor talk about batman made me want to freak out as a batman stan😂 please read more batman comics
Am I the only one who liked Love and Thunder?
Edit: don’t get me wrong, there are problems in the movie, but it was good enough that I enjoyed it.
yeah
No its a solid movie with some problems that people exaggerate to make it seem worse than it actually is.
@@johnman8398 nah its shit
I enjoyed it, but it is objectively not that good.
I personally enjoyed Love and Thunder. the film of course, was far from being perfect but I overall did enjoyed the movie
Unless you’re at the theater, complaints about a movie’s length are instantly irrelevant to me. I watch 7-8 hour VODs with little difficulty, a 3 hour movie is nothing.
The Batman is actually one of the most comic accurate Batman out there. But, I'm not exactly biggest fan of young Batman era where he becomes somewhat a detective. And I don't think would give it a rewatch
L take on Batman Joey
I’m glad people are realizing that Joey doesn’t only have horrible takes but is also super arrogant with them
Idk, he always injects "I think" or "to me" or "my opinion". He was also careful on saying his inputs. Never giving the notion that his opinion is the right one or the only one correct. So idk how that was arrogant.
Nah people are just going aggressive because Joey doesn't agree with them
Watch rrr
the weather actually wasn't record breaking. that was a lie. we have records from only a few years ago that were hotter
