If you ever feel useless just remember that Shedinja has defense stats
fr that thing ain't gonna survive any super effective hits anyway unless it has a focus sash which can only work for 1 turn
@@Cobrakys Yes. That is what I mean. every attack will always do at least 1hp of damage provided it's not an immunity. Shedinja has 1 hp, therefore no need for defense
Transform copies every stat except HP, meaning you can potentially have a Shedinja with more than 1 hit point
@@Deathnotefan97but thats just cheese
@@Deathnotefan97also that doesnt do anything to shedinja himself
Actually Shedinja doesn't TECHNICALLY count as nincada's evolution. It's just a byproduct of the evo.

If you're gonna use it, a -def +spd nature is quite good.
@@marhawkman303 I assume you meant +SPE, but no, that's dogshit. Shedinja is too slow to worry about a speed boosting nature. Just use a +ATK nature.

ok deadass i had no idea that scyther, kleavor and scizor all have a 500 BST, i think thats a really interesting way of basically having formes.
Thats the best part of the 3 of them. They also all represent Rock Paper and Scissor. Although Scyther as Paper is a stretch

When you showed the blurred picture, I was like: IT’S NINCADA!
🎶WHO'S THAT POKEMON?🎶😂
Well that obviously makes sense, he's a literal shell of his former self 😂
It's a sensible decrease. Considering the fact that Shedinja is merely the husk of Ninjask, it lore-wise makes sense. Competitively, it's equal sensible, since it can be equipped with a focus sash to prevent it from dying on the first turn. It's moveset counts
It also makes sense competitively because the DEFENSE AND SPECIAL DEFENSE STAT ARE LITERALLY USELESS ON THIS THING. Damage is rounded up in Pokemon too, so even if the attack did less than 1 damage mathematically, Shedinja would not survive the hit anyway
@@harrya9458 def and spdef are for impostor, transform and substitute
Honestly they should have given it a better special attack stat than it got. Make the defenses both 1 since they do nothing and increase the speed too.
@@lofifuture-0643 yeah I found that odd too, considering in the anime, it's known to use Shadow Ball. Then again, this is at the time where Ghost type moves are only physical.
@@ammagon4519 Yeah I get your point, but at the same time Shedinja feels like it should be the poster child of glass cannon Pokemon. It's just weird to me that they gave it any stat points for its defenses and didn't really increase anything besides its physical attack.
I actually got this one right because Shedinja has 1 hp. Feels good to figure out something like this without pausing
Shedinja having 1 hp has nothing to do with it's BST though because its base hp of 1 is purely aesthetic. It doesn't actually use its HP base.
@@ZenoDovahkiin It is technically true that its HP stat isn't used to calculate it's HP, but its HP stat is set to 1 so that it makes sense in relation to its 1hp. This means its 1hp trait is indirectly the reason for this lower BST, so saying it has "nothing" to do with it is a bit disingenuous because the BST is affected by its trait of always having 1hp even if that stat isn't directly used since its HP base stat is used when determining the BST.

The irony of me working on a Shedninja evolution when this shows in my feed
The easiest explanation for Shedinja being a byproduct and not an evolution: I believe Nincada can evolve into Ninjask without a Shedinja being formed, while the opposite is impossible
That is correct. Nincada always evolves into Ninjask. Shedinja just shows up in your party if you happen to have an empty slot and a spare Poké Ball.
That’s wild lore. “Shed-ninja”
So that’s why he has funky type resistance because he’s just a shed husk of a former nincada? The writers at Pokémon are fkn metal
Wouldn't a shedinja always form from an evolution with ninjask just in game it only appears when you have free space?
In the context of the Pokémon world wouldn't It just just wander off if it wasn't caught kind of like how in the game you don't capture it if you don't have a free slot.
That would definitely make sense, though I don't know the lore there, maybe it doesn't form in the wild? Idk honestly
If you don't have a friend, Machamp, Gengar and Alakazam are impossible to get. They are still evolutions.

I’d like to add to your argument by pointing out the fact that the evolution cutscene literally shows Nincada evolving into Ninjask, not Shedinja. The requirement is to evolve Nincada with an empty slot in your party and a pokeball in your bag, and if your Nincada is nicknamed, Shedinja doesn’t take on said nickname, Ninjask does, so it’s pretty clear that Nincada doesn’t become Shedinja.

It's a subject of some debate but the majority of sources say yes it counts.
Technically it is considered a new pokemon that is automatically caught/directly added to your party when at least one slot is empty.
@LPFan That seems pretty inaccurate. All official sources (that I know of) list it as an evolution. The top fan sites have it considered as an evolution. Additionally Shedinja receives all EVs, IVs, nature, and most importantly met location from Nincada. Personally I consider the met location as the ultimate indicator that it is an evolution.
You can say that *you* consider it a new Pokémon but I'd have to say that overall it is considered an evolution by both the game and the community overall.

Shedninja has a BST of 236, but effectively it’s only 161, as its defense stats are useless. Crazy how much an ability can carry a Pokémon.
Haunter is a Pokémon that I feel gets weaker when it evolves into Gengar. Losing Levitate for Cursed Body is quite a downgrade, especially given their weakness to Ground.
Not really, it's still Gengar. What I mean is it's still significantly stronger and faster. Up until Gen 9, Gengar also had a move pool advantage with access to Nasty Plot and Focus Blast though happy to see Haunter get more love. Additionally, Cursed Body isn't actually that bad...it's kind of bloody annoying especially when your sweep gets interrupted because Gengar swooped in and disabled your key move.
The situation with Scyther and Scizor actually gets more interesting when you consider you can have the former hold an eviolite, making it overall more flexible and just as bulky if you consider it can be taught Roost.
Steel Bug >>>>>>>> Flying Bug
Scyther also does get technician and dual wingbeat for a decently powerful STAB, but scizor does have a superior typing
Yeah but Scizor can also learn Roost by evolving it after Scyther knows it, and its type is vastly superior.
Yes but you will have less attack a worse typing you have more speed sure but to what benefit really with Scizor you can turn it mega to add even more attack whilst bulking up its defence or use a different item when that's not available not to mention bullet punch swords dance less stealth rocks damage and so on
